UCLA has to be ecstatic.....

Lavar Ball pulled his kid off the team and out of school altogether. I guess they weren’t supposed to discipline him for his China incident. Good luck to any school who takes on this headache. I feel sorry for the kid.
Wow.

Unreal.

His old man is a total a$$ wipe that's for sure. Maybe a call to Todd Marinovich is in order. Is he still alive?

He won't be at any other school. Daddy will want him getting paid to play someplace.

This might be the moment we get one of those crazy SMF threads about why Pitt should bring the kid here.

According to Lavar the youngest Ball still plans on attending UCLA. Have seen him described as the most talented of the 3.

Those kids should have been left in China to deal with the Chinese justice system.
After that I doubt they'll ever have a problem with the US system!
It would have been a great example for other "punks" who think shoplifting in any country is right. Fyi they stole from a bunch of stores and it was more than sunglasses!
What a bunch of losers including Father Ball!
Ten years in a Chinese prison would be appropriate justice!

I predicted that move . . .

The Lakers are already sick of Lavar Ball's shit and have devised "The Lavar Ball Rule". Lavar might be the biggest jackass in the entire world of sports right now. Did you guys catch Lavar on CNN? Boy is it cringe worthy.

I just used the same comparison. He is like Marv Marinovich combined with Richard Williams (Williams sisters dad).
LaVar Ball should never be mentioned in the same sentence with Richard Williams. Williams was definitely rough around the edges, but he was 100% successful in what he did, and always tried to look out for his daughters, both of whom are smart, very wealthy, and successful beyond even his dreams in tennis. A lot of folks don't like him because he wasn't going to put up with any racist, or classist BS in that country club sport. Tonya Harding needed a Richard Williams when she was dealing with the classist BS in the world of ice skating.

Ok Donald. Screw the kids because the old man is an asshole. Yeah, they screwed up. But 10 years in a Chinese prison? Get real.

Marv’s plan worked as Todd made it to the NFL.

The rest fell on Todd, but the drugs became an addition at too young of an age then spiraled out of control in college.

Yeah, I can't see how Richard Williams was anything other than a success as a parent. He raised two girls into women who rose to the top of their profession and who seem to be good people as well as good tennis players. What's wrong with that?

And I think that's a good example, that Tonya Harding needed a Richard Williams type parent. One who would tell their kid that the solution to possibly not being as good as someone else isn't to get their pals to crack the competitor on the back of the knee with a baton, but rather to work harder and make herself better. Richard Williams would have never put up with a bunch of idiots like Jeff Gillooly, Shawn Eckhardt and Shane Stant having anything at all to do with either of his daughters. Good for him.

On that note, I'm really looking forward to seeing "I,Tonya". Reviews have been spectacular.

Not defending Harding, at all, but there is a lot more to her story than the end of her professional skating career. I agree with the post above that said she needed better management all along (i.e a parent figure like Williams).

Actually the best change that she could have had in her life would have been a parent like Williams around from day one. Unfortunately not everyone gets that in life.

Surprising that you'd have that opinion.

You're probably right!

But given the family I don't think they think they did anything wrong???
Especially when the "old man" tweeted "it's no big deal."

Well it's a big deal for the Chinese and it is for them if they're in China and they break Chinese law!

When I used to fly into Singapore and I looked at my boarding pass it said stamped in Red letters " the possession of drugs and the trafficking of drugs could result in the death penalty"

And they decided what was a drug. We had to have prescriptions for anything carried in our carry on bags!

So maybe the whole arrogant family will travel to Singapore and have some drugs with them? Things can be worse than ten years in prison.

It's important to follow the law no matter what country you're in!

Bottom line is I doubt they learned anything from this experience!

They should have traded the Dad for the release of the kid.

If it were my kid, I'd want him out of there as quickly as possible and then I would deal with it the best I could as a parent. But in this case, the old man doesn't even think UCLA should be punishing him. He said the kid should have been back on the floor after week. He's a piece of work and not teaching his kid anything.

Lavar Ball pulled his kid off the team and out of school altogether. No, Ball's son pulled himself off the team as Lavar has no power to remove an adult from a college which brings up the point is that these dudes really need to get together and grow up and tell their old man to pound sand already and they are done with his foolishness. .

These were Lavar's own words. To make it worse he says his son will not attend another school and Lavar will now prepare him for the NBA draft. In what world does this guy live in? The kid isn't on any draft board. If he was considered under the radar he would be 10 times higher than where he actually is.

But Lavar assures everyone that the youngest kid will still attend UCLA. If UCLA accepts him they are crazier than loons.

LaVar killing any chance his middle son has of having any kind of career. Kid was probably more of a mid major type player that UCLA had to take if they wanted the other two sons. He’s screwed now.

Doubt the youngest attends college anywhere. Probably try and have him play in Europe for a year before he’s draft eligible.

That would be fun though, we'd have a few laughs! Lots of great discussions here, Bring in Ball Jr. and Pitino! LOL!

He's like what? 18 or 19? he should of refused and tried to return to the team eventually, he's an idiot too.
Yeah. I'll bet it would be real easy to disobey that Idiot of an old man.

He's on scholarship at UCLA, I assume he has a room, food, at least? Then again, he's probably got an over inflated self image because of Dad's delusional self?

Didn't he also pull the dorky little one out of his Chino Hills high school?

Saw where Greg Kampe at Oakland said he’d take LiAngelo “in a minute”. Probably around the level he should have been at to begin with.

The dorky little one is ranked 7th in his class. He is the prize of the family and his dad will undoubtedly ruin him. Father of the decade.

Wait a minute. We aren't hearing squat from the parents of the other two players. Perhaps they realize that actions have consequences.

Yikes. I saw some video of him from AAU and all he seemed to do is stand at the offensive end of the court while his teammates played defense, and then they threw him a long pass.

I reckon we shall see what becomes of him.
