UCLA wanted Jamie Dixon not Cronin!

I was shocked UCLA wanted Jamie. I mean I think Jamie is an above average coach but I thought UCLA should have shot WAY higher than a guy who spent most of the last decade on the bubble. Cronin was clearly the better choice. Surprised he was their backup option.

And Pitt could have had Cronin. What a travesty.

Check out Cronin's post season resume at Cincy. It wasn't pretty. Jamie's overall resume was better at the time.

Lol. Thank god you’re not an AD. You’d last about 3 days
I’m fairly comfortable evaluating , recruiting , and hiring talent - as I’ve been successful in building talented teams at a couple places .
I’d trust my eye for how to pair down to look for leadership qualities of candidates based on resumes
I have a hunch I’ve done far more hiring than you .

let me ask you a simple question
What makes Brandin more qualified than Travon or ron Ramon ?
Other than being elevated to top assistant under Dixon during what some here describe as our descent into mediocrity - to move backwards at Rutgers ?

Not all Bruin fans wanted Dixon. His failure to advance beyond the Elite Eight was troubling. After all, UCLA is always looking to rekindle their championship run under Wooden. Cronin is doing a better job than Jamie would do. Just look at the TCU program. Just like he did at Pitt, he peaked and is now down-sliding. The Dixon Big East magic is so difficult to reinvent for the Big 12. Clearly Capel is inexperienced AD Lyke worst mistake. I give Jamie much credit for even when his teams were not at the level of his first decade run, he was one thousand times better than the chaotic mess Capel has brought to the program. Next season will be brutal for both Capel, his extended family of coaches, and Lyke.
"...brought to the program"???

If Brandin goes and head coaches hs for awhile /
He’ll be a more attractive candidate than presently
Agree with you. The truth is he’d be a total crapshoot. He needs a few successful seasons as a mid major HC. The fact that he hasn’t been hired into one of those jobs after all these years is probably not a great sign.

And I should say - there’s nothing wrong with taking steps backwards necessarily - but it’s the first question I’d ask .
The second being what can he do to tell me he’s ready for a head coaching job now after being in the same position for years ?”

He'd have to assure me (if I were AD) that he would have an unbelievable staff lined up.
