A little defense and rebounding probably wouldn't hurt either.
Yeah. Scoring 78 points strikes me as not that bad.
Teach how to box out. Corhen missing a box out during the last minute was a killer.
Someone mentioned this in the gamethread, but we do seem to get gassed. Corhen in particular labors up and down the court often. Maybe we need to give Kante minutes just to give Corhen a break. Either that, or run some suicides and get in better shape.
Stats are telling-- Pitt shot better both on 2s and 3s, made more FTs, etc. etc. But, got destroyed on the back boards 43-31 and as a result by points in the paint and Louisville took 68 total shots to Pitt's 55 as a result.
Pitt was more efficient but Louisville won on shooting volume due to their huge advantage on the boards.

Offense is fine. Rebounding is the problem. Defense #2.
Valid points, Pitt does benefit from the dribble drives, but I think too often it's forced without a legit option.

They didn’t lose today’s game because of offense, blame defense and rebounding. Defense was bad on many fronts, whether it be transition defense after both made and missed baskets, to not working through screens properly. Smith got his many open looks gor 3’s due to deficiencies in both those areas.
We did well on offense and 78 points wins most games where we rebound and don't stand around as spectators on defense. We were outrebounded by 13, offensive rebounding by 9. And this horrid defense we have just stood around flatfooted and watched 'Ville run their plays and find the open man with no intention of defending.
If we can't beat a decent team, which 'Ville is this year, on our home court, what will we do on the visitor's court with no rebounding and no defense? This has nothing to do with offense, although I'd love to see Pitt push the ball more before the defenders have a chance to set up. We protected the ball, didn't turn it over, and were very efficient. But that doesn't win games most of the time unless you play good defense and rebound at least respectably.
The ACC will get in maybe 4 teams into the NCAAT, 5 tops. Is Pitt one of the top 5 teams right now? That's up for debate, but this awful display of a lack of rebounding and defense says they aren't. This puts more pressure on them now to win some road games and all of their home games if we can expect an NCAAT bid.
