Umm, if we win our next 3 games

we probably will win the Coastal. How funny is that? We'd be 5-1 with tiebreakers over VT and UVa. Miami/VT and UVa/VT still have to play. Its not like we are playing Bama, Clemson, and OSU the next 3 weeks. These are winnable games. If we win them, we can head into the game at Wake with a chance to clinch a bid in Charlotte. May not even have to beat Miami if they lose 2 more which is possible

Exactly, even if we go into Miami with winner advancing I'm not counting us out if defense plays next few games like they did the ND game... a few years ago I would give it a no chance scenario but considering we beat Miami twice in the past 4 years or something like that, they don't scare me as much. Even the way we okay VT year to year I'm not worried about them. All remaining games are winnable if we play smart and get something with offense going. Was a great time to have a BYE week this week.

Does my heart good to read a positive post. The season is not lost. Beating Syracuse gave us a chance to straiten things out. How well we play against Duke (in a win, of course) is very important now.

I agree, winning the next three games are critical, but running the table, now that would be sweet.

Obviously I want to see a victory next week against Duke, but it’d be nice in the two weeks they’ve had to prepare that the offense will actually complete passes between the numbers. That’d definitely assist the passing game woes.

Alternately or in addition...if whatever might be ailing our QB (knee?)has had more of a chance to improve with additional days off, and they give him some more (any) RPO plays as a result. No, rolling out only to throw a 3 yard pass is not the same thing.

Here's the thing though. Winning the Coastal at 7-5 will create 0 buzz and even me as a diehard fan, will not consider itna great season. I mean I'd be happy to win the division but it would have a very Fiesta Bowlish feel and I posted that early in the season. Cool it happened but we did the bare minimum and nobody cared locally. Didn't move the needle at all.

Duke game is HUUUGE. It’s an absolute must win and 3-1 in the ACC puts us in a good spot. 3-5 overall on the other hand is almost a death sentence. Sadly most of the whining fair weather fans will probably stay home but hoping we get a good turnout. Still a chance at a good season.

Except we wouldnt be going to the Fiesta Bowl or anything like it, we’d be looking at Pinstripe or Sun at best.

Yea but the ACC Championship, to me is better than a bowl game and really only a step below the NY6 bowl games.

You are probably right, sorry I’m a little bit distracted tonight.

Waiting for Purdue to finish this off so I can start multiple threads burying Steel Curtain the way he did to me after they started out 0-3.

And I would like nothing more than Pitt to go to the Sun, it’s the one game I’m sure I can attend. Beers for all are on me.

It was cause little buzz loacally, but with only one ‘minimum’ anything in 40 years, they should have a parade. We’ll see, stills seems more likely 5-7 range.

Just win the next one.

It is good to still be in a conference race, even though you struggle early in the year. Northwestern and Purdue are still alive in the Big 10 west, Pitt and VA are still alive in the ACC Coastal, and all essentially control their own destiny. Now, all of them are long shots to put a run together (except Purdue, which looks really good tonight), but its fun to still be looking at standings with as good of a chance as anyone else, standings-wise.

I'd like to see this team score more than one touchdown in the second half this week before I worry about winning the Coastal.

Pitt lost to North Carolina and could not beat any team of national relevance. Winning the Coastal would be great, but to think it means they are turning the corner is laughable. The team is not in good position for the current or future. Recruiting is a joke.

This team is not going to win the next 3 games. UVA is a good football team with a running QB (style hurts us). Second of all we have a head coach who wants to run a pro style power run game and hired a OC who is a well known west coast passing game coach who was also asked to keep some of the Canada motion stuff. We are to unorganized to go 3-0 the next three. We need an offensive identity. The defense may be bad at times, but it knows who they are in terms of scheme.
Pitt will beat Duke and Wake.
I pretty happy with the staff except Watson he has completely killed my optimism for this team. Hope I am proved wrong, but after the QB circus last year and then watch the dismantling of KP. Not to mention we can't give the ball to our All american.
5 wins .....we start all over with new coach for no reason

I actually liked going to both of those bowls... and you can throw in Annapolis as well.

It would have been cool if the team showed up too.

A 7-5 Pitt team in the ACC championship game would be a black eye for the conference. Let's do it. It'd be fun just to have the team get some national attention for being in a conference title game even if Clemson would be favored by 20. A conference title game loss and bowl loss would give us the rare 7-7 season.

I think 5-7 is more likely but all for divisional chaos.

Disagree a bit. Because of who and what we have coming back, and the schedule next year, I think it may springboard us.......possibly get a preseason ranking 20-25 which would be important.

What we have coming back? Answer: as many question marks as we had this year... this team will start out next year with zero momrntum given the likely way the rest of the season will evolve. They lose nearly 50% of their staters and don’t have a single impact player. This crew is in a deep rut.

Isn't there a soccer game on somewhere in the world that you should be watching.

I wonder if anyone has ever gone 7-7?

Off the top of my head I remember Turner Gill’s Buffalo team going 8-6 one year, but I bet 7-7 has never happened.

Frankly, I can't see us beating Duke or Virginia after what I witnessed yesterday watching their game,

WTF is wrong with you guys?

“ there will be no buzz.. herp durf”

“ black eye for conference if Pitt wins”... ugghhh

I want Pitt to win out period.... if that takes Pitt to conference championship fine...

Holy hell

I’m convinced most posters don’t worry about their own feelings but instead worry constantly about others perceptions... who cares? What’s wrong with you ? Seriously? At this point win as much as possible and move on... Jesus this isn’t hard.

College sports is ALL about perception. Perception gets you recruits, rankings and fan support. What’s confusing about this?

A 7-5 team in the championship game wouldn’t be preferable, but it happens. A 7-5 team winning that game and the conference would be a black mark. Of course that’s nothing a few flags from the bojangles crew couldn’t take care of.

Nebraska went 7-7 in 2002. A year later Frank was fired by Nordy’s boy, Pederson.

Pederson refused to see Nebraska gravitate in mediocrity under Solich. Instead, after no one wanted the job he had to hire Bill Callahan and Bill flushed Nebraska football down the toilet.

I don’t think there has ever been an AD who liked firing and hiring coaches more than Pederson.

Good catch, although I was more looking for a 7-5 team that somehow made it to their conference championship game and lost that and the bowl game as well.

Joy. Another up and coming program to join KEntucky in Ohio recruiting. Leftovers for MAC. Pitt better get a stronghold in the south somewhere.

You do the best with what is left this season

Period

Pitt not a National title contender

Newsflash

Oh no!
When did that news come out?
Geezzz I take a few hours off to watch the Nascar race at Kansas Speedway and this news breaks?
I already had PITT penciled in for one of the teams in the NC.
I guess I'll have to un-pencil PITT for the NC. Good thing I didn't use a pen and ink on my CFP sheet.
