USMNT March fixtures thread

Ole Shaq Moore has been very solid filling in on the right back tonight. Flying in from Spain on short short notice at that

Here's my bold prediction Cotton. Mexico will get out of the group stages in Qatar.

Very odd statistic as per espnfc.com

Panama has roughly 61% of possession. But they are being completely dominated. Very rarely does that stat play out that way.

This was a comfortable win. Credit to Derp, his post game, he just said they want to get 3 in San Jose. I expect 3. CR is turd. Eff them up lads!

What am I missing?? Goal diffential is 10. But they said we can’t lose by 6.

If we lose by five we will be tied on goal difference. The second tie breaker is total goals scored, and the US has scored 21 and Costa Rica has only scored 11. So if CR wins by five and ties the goal difference, they still lose on total goals. So CR has to win by six goals and over take us in goal difference to get ahead of us in the standings.

This won't happen. I think they grab all 3 in San Jose. This team is locked in.

I think Derp should start Jesus in San Jose. He was very solid tonight.

Well laddies, barring a monumental collapse in San Jose, the boys are going to the middle east later this year.

Still not a fan of Derp, but he did one thing that he was required to do and that is qualify. Looking forward to the draw on 5 April so we can start to dissect what our chances are.

He’s got a large pool of players to pull from too. That midfield…wow. I’m not saying it’s filled with world class players, but he will have options and tough decisions later this year. Obviously McKennie and Adams need to play against the big boys, but guys like LDLT have shown to be good and have upside. I watched the replay of the match last night as I fell asleep, and he was all over the place and involved in those goals.

Now I can save the $5 and watch the.....what amounts to a friendly.....Costa Rica game on Telemundo instead of getting a Paramount+ subscription. Or maybe I'll head over to Joe's to watch it.

Still think he should field as strong as a squad as possible. You'd think CR likes their chances against the Oceana Rep in the playoff match

So for all our complaining about Berhalter, I predicted 10/11 starters vs Mexico, and I predicted 9/11 yesterday (I missed on reyna, and I was convinced he was going to start Long).

I’ll make my prediction for Costa Rica after I think a little more about it. I just hope he sticks with the game plan and doesn’t play defensive like he did the last 15 minutes vs Mexico.

The CBS coverage is absolutely dreadful compared to FS1
I kinda like it to be honest. Dempsey and Davies are good. The English chick is hot. Onyewu isnt bad. The play by play guy isnt too bad. And weirdly Edu does the color even though he works for Fox. He isnt bad.

The studio stuff isn’t bad. And it’s essentially the same as their Chanpions League coverage. But their in game coverage of the CL is good too and maybe being simulcast from another network internationally?? But I’m sorry, the in game broadcast in concacaf was like cable access television of a Bethel Park vs USC section match. It was amateurish.

I don't like their All-English CL coverage

I don't get the big need to always have someone with an English accent on their studio shows, I forget which network, they have the obligatory hot female analyst, but we are the USA, we should have a female AMERICAN soccer woman in that job, but they have a chick with an English accent.

Agree. If we are going to be serious about being a soccer power, why do we always need an English accent to validate our coverage?

If they want English people for the NBC EPL broadcasts enhanced by American Tim Howard who starred in the EPL, that’s one thing. That’s why NBC has crushed it in their presentation of the Premier League.

But for USMNT soccer, I don’t get it. Like I said, FS1 coverage is great. It’s all American. CBS coverage blows.

When Pulisic was involved in that scuffle, I had no problem with Costa Rica being pissed off. He did the worm 2 minutes earlier after scoring to go up 4-0. I saw it as a juju type move. But now we all know the whole story.

That was the worst celebration I've ever seen, any sport! :)

Costa Rica has 9 starters on yellow cards, and suspensions carry over into the continental playoff. They’re really backed into a corner here.

btw, wondering if a win/loss gets us out of Pot 2.

Just heard this:

Pot 1-
Portugal loses, Mexico loses or ties, Netherlands loses or ties, And UsA wins, USA gets Pot 1.

Wow, do those really carry over? If not, I wouldn't even risk playing them.

So when does the pairing for the World Cup announced? Friday?

I can see it now... USA, France, Brazil and Senegal
Sorry I missed this. This is what’s great about soccer. They don’t make you wait. With all of their competitions, they announce the draw for the next rounds immediately. The draw is Friday morning.

the draw contains 4 pots.

pot 1 is the top 7 teams in the world rankings + Qatar. Belgium, France, England, Brazil, argentina and Spain are in this pot. Portugal is still pending for the final spot in the pot if they win tomorrow. This guarantees that they won’t be drawn into the same group with each other and will all lead their own groups. The USA, who is #13 in the world, could slide up into that pot if things break their way but it’s unlikely. Hard to imagine but even Mexico can get into that pot ahead of us. The best we can hope for is the US gets drawn into Qatars group, thus avoiding the other top ranked teams.

crazy to imagine though that the #6 team in the world (Italy) won’t be there, and #8 Portugal still may not. We will find out tomorrow if Portugal advances. They probably will.

there will be a group of death though. There always is.
