There is no shame in losing if you perform to the level of your preparation EXCEPT if you were not prepared.
Clearly, with 7 penalties in the first 8 minutes of the game, Pitt was nowhere near prepared to play a game. Not close.
Like last week in Dallas, Pitt looked slow. The players aren’t slow. Unprepared players are slow. They have to think and that split 2nd costs them dearly.
Pitt was not in the game mentally.
There are reasons why Pitt doesn’t get respect nationally. We don’t deserve it.
PN is a known commodity and this game does not surprise me at all.
I’m not calling for him to get fired, but on the heels of last year, no one can reasonably call him a good HC.
He is average at best.
Oh, Pat, please stop the glib comments at your presser. You aren’t funny.

Dude chill out. The defense had two picks and the QB's probably cost us 2 touchdowns and set them up for another. The refs also cost us 3 points and 3 minutes of game time on that 4th down stop. Oh yeah and that crappy call on the two point conversions. The coaches are at least 3rd in line for blame tonight. The refs called us for everything and missed crucial calls all night.

No Fn chill out - it’s time for a change. The coaches are at the top of the list for this meltdown. TIME FOR A CHANGE AT THE HEAD COACHING POSITION.

Between the bizarre changes on the offensive line to the completely inept offensive playcalling and (to be expected) horrific end of game management it was a particulary horrible game for a coaching staff that already more often than not is clueless most games to begin with.

You don't start 7-0 and lack the talent to beat this Virginia team. Total waste of the best start in the last 40+ years

Dude? Who you be?
Hey, if 7 penalties in the first 8 minutes is your idea of good preparation, I can’t help you.
That game wasn’t lost by the Refs, it was lost in the 1st quarter when Pitt showed they didn’t come to play.
I love it when people accept shit. It is why the world is filled with flies.

Duz isn't bad. He isn't good. I'm making up a new term. He's a Pitty coach.

Pitty: adj. leaving one pissed off and frustrated far more often then left happy and fulfilled.

If he was better, he'd have moved on by now or wouldn't have come here in the first place. If and when he does leave, only a pitty replacement would be available to replace him.

Pitt just treading water for a decade with this guy. You can sign up for at least 4-5 losses every year with him….even when he wins the first 7.

Hard to win games where the refs give the other team 5th down at a critical point in the game....Pitt was down 2 with one of the best kickers in College Football and 6 minutes on the clock. In the stadium, we were all celebrating the stop and then they gave them another play. Nobody knew WTF was going on....

Well, it was Virginia. So even with spotting them the extra 3 it shouldn't exactly be tough to win.

Thats called Pitt football circa 1938-2024. We're in the same situation as about 60 other programs. I imagine we get kicked in the nuts slightly more than most of those but that's mostly because of stupid expectations based on what the program was between the 2 world wars and our unfortunate rivalries with 3 schools that give a crap about football (PSU, WVU and ND) and a brief 4-5 year period a couple generations ago.

I am convinced that the acc heads tell the refs who they want to win, the conferences and schools make money on bowl games, Pitt is already bowl eligible and the acc want Virginia bowl eligible and now they are 1 game away from it, and this one was at pitts expense. I believe the conferences dictate who they want to win, the refs were out of position. Really????

I don't see UVA winning again in 2024.

10 years and not one team has come after him (maybe MSU, not 100% sure on that). He is the prettiest fat girl at the prom. Best of the average coaches here since Sherrill.

As soon as we play a decent team on our schedule, we lose. None of the first 7 teams we played had a pulse. We lost against SMU and now against UVA. UVA is fairly close to Pitt in ability and talent, but better coached. Our next 3 games are against vastly superior teams. That includes BC. 7-5 is the expectation as it was at the beginning of the year.

SMU is the best teams Pitt has played. Take Kent State and YSU out of the equation and there isn't much difference in the rest of the teams Pitt has played. They all have a winning record. None of them are anything special, and none of them are ass either.

We really don't know. Duzz doesn't have an agent and probably wouldn't leak that info unless it was for some self-serving purpose. I think he likes coaching at Pitt. At this stage of his career, he's pretty much pigeonholed himself geographically.

Duzz is a lot like Matt Campbell, Kyle Whittingham, Kirk Ferentz, or Mark Stoops. His teams compete at an acceptable level and he's been been to the mountain top in terms of what the program can realistically achieve.

What are you talking about… Syracuse, WVU and Cinci are all better than Va. Are you following this season from another solar system?

There really isn't much difference in those teams.

UVA has been just as competitive as those teams this year except for the UNC game. UVA beat BC by 10. Louisville scored a TD in the last 2 minutes to squeak out a win over the CAVS.

I thought they were going to say they were going to review the spot. Everyone was in disbelief.

While I thought Pitt would win, I kept saying this before this game, cautionary for anyone thinking they would have this comfortable “get right” game - If Pitt can barely edge out comeback wins against Cincy, WVU and rely heavily on a late missed FG against Cal, they sure as hell can lose a close one possession game to Virginia.

It’s still an unacceptable loss at home, but not shocking.

Shame it had to happen in front of what was by far the best crowd of the year.

Did we give out tickets to military families or something? There were way more people in the upper deck than usual and it seemed like they were all dressed in black.

Yea, when put in those terms, no Narduzzi loss is shocking because he manages to blow at least a couple of games per year…even when he wins an acc championship

Our lot was packed with tailgating. Lines at all the portojohns. I think having the military appreciation helped, but I think Stan Yinzersky and company said hey it's a beautiful Saturday night, Pitt's playing well let's go tailgate and catch a game n'at.

Been saying this for years. Crowds are better at night because like 20% of Pitt fans have youth sports obligations that conflict with noon games.

This isn't anything unusual for a Narduzzi coached team. 6-6, 7-5, maybe an occasional 8-4 if we get lucky and play an exceptionally easy schedule.

The teams we're playing now have had a chance to see this offense and are now ready for it and will defense it. All the remaining 3 teams on our schedule will be ready for us. I don't expect us to win any of them, playing the odds. And our coaching doesn't seem capable of making adequate adjustments in game or otherwise.

Maybe the new athletic director and chancellor will pull the plug on Nards. It’s obvious thins will not get better. He needs to go!

If Holstein doesn’t get cheap shotted we win.
He was an absolute mess.

being in that position at all late in the game at home against a team like UVA is an indictment of this head coach in and of itself.

They will if the acc wants them to be bowl eligible, they won tonight and shouldn’t have, don’t bet on them not winning 1 more game
You’re nuts. The idea of UVA football being the beneficiary of an ACC officiating conspiracy to hurt a 7-1 potential playoff team so that UVA had a chance to be eligible for the Lume Poop Bowl
in Gary IN is beyond laughable. That program, is, has always been and will always be totally irrelevant in the college football all lexicon.

Interesting then that Dooz commands nowhere near the respect of his peers and the football media that any of those other coaches do.

Probably because he really isn’t in their class. Not often that you see the type of unprepared, mistake-prone, disorganized clown show of a team that Narduzzi too often rolls out there associated with any of those names. All you needed to see was the first 10 minutes of this week’s game or last weeks to know he’s not in the club you listed.

He did not have an MSU offer. He was under consideration for an MSU offer and undoubtedly would have considered it given what MSU was willing to spend, but it never came to that.

This team was totally unprepared and undisciplined last night. That's on the coaches. We had more penalty yards in Q1 than we had total yards from plays. Unfortunately, the lack of discipline is becoming a trend now. And our next 3 opponents are all better than UVA and will exploit that.
