Ethan Morton
Morton is already taking his official visits. The final list of schools looks just about set with Pitt, Indiana, Michigan, Purdue, Stanford and Ohio State with very very few if any outsiders lurking. He has unofficially visited Pitt already with Top target Will Jeffress who has Pitt at the top or very close of his list.
Coach Capel has seen Morton multiple times, the 6'4 guard ( official height from the USA basketball camp without shoes) has really turned it on with breakout performances, already breaking the school record in points at Butler with 49 the other night. Once considered a heavy Big Ten lean, one school appears to have closed the gap substantially, Pitt
The home school work has been done by Capel, who has recently gone after him hard with multiple visits from Capel and his assistants. Morton sees himself as primarily a point guard, but with his handle, passing ability and shooting ability, also sees himself as a 2 or 3. He is highly intrigued by current coaches recruiting him that are former point guards / guards in college,, ie Jeff Capel and Archie Miller etc...
Will Jeffress and his entire family are very high on Capel. Well, Jeffress and Morton are now buddies. Morton is also buddies with another Pitt target, Kofi Cockburn. Interesting huh, 3 huge Pitt targets all connected to each other. Its an easy one though. Morton played with Cockburn together in the EYBL circuit for the NY Ren
What makes this all the more interesting is I said there were surprises potentially on the horizon. Well, Morton happens to be turning 18 in the near future and has very good grades. And with immediate playing time at Pitt, is a potential candidate to reclassify to you guessed it, 2019.
What makes this important is that Pitt really needs an added piece to the backcourt and Toney, Pitt's top rebounder as previously mentioned, can easily be a hybrid junkyard dog 4.
As a Top 50 Nationally ranked player in the country, Morton would be a huge piece for the 2019 or 2020 recruiting class if it breaks either way. Coach Capel continues to be on his top targets extremely hard, and, is closing in.
Hit or Miss, Capel and his staff have also seen Wahab 3 times now in under 10 days. As far as I know, no other Coaching staff has went out this hard on Wahab. All that can be done with Wahab was done, get him or not.
