Morton is already taking his official visits. The final list of schools looks just about set with Pitt, Indiana, Michigan, Purdue, Stanford and Ohio State with very very few if any outsiders lurking. He has unofficially visited Pitt already with Top target Will Jeffress who has Pitt at the top or very close of his list.

Coach Capel has seen Morton multiple times, the 6'4 guard ( official height from the USA basketball camp without shoes) has really turned it on with breakout performances, already breaking the school record in points at Butler with 49 the other night. Once considered a heavy Big Ten lean, one school appears to have closed the gap substantially, Pitt

The home school work has been done by Capel, who has recently gone after him hard with multiple visits from Capel and his assistants. Morton sees himself as primarily a point guard, but with his handle, passing ability and shooting ability, also sees himself as a 2 or 3. He is highly intrigued by current coaches recruiting him that are former point guards / guards in college,, ie Jeff Capel and Archie Miller etc...

Will Jeffress and his entire family are very high on Capel. Well, Jeffress and Morton are now buddies. Morton is also buddies with another Pitt target, Kofi Cockburn. Interesting huh, 3 huge Pitt targets all connected to each other. Its an easy one though. Morton played with Cockburn together in the EYBL circuit for the NY Ren

What makes this all the more interesting is I said there were surprises potentially on the horizon. Well, Morton happens to be turning 18 in the near future and has very good grades. And with immediate playing time at Pitt, is a potential candidate to reclassify to you guessed it, 2019.

What makes this important is that Pitt really needs an added piece to the backcourt and Toney, Pitt's top rebounder as previously mentioned, can easily be a hybrid junkyard dog 4.

As a Top 50 Nationally ranked player in the country, Morton would be a huge piece for the 2019 or 2020 recruiting class if it breaks either way. Coach Capel continues to be on his top targets extremely hard, and, is closing in.

Hit or Miss, Capel and his staff have also seen Wahab 3 times now in under 10 days. As far as I know, no other Coaching staff has went out this hard on Wahab. All that can be done with Wahab was done, get him or not.

Thanks for the update SteelCurtain. Are you making another prediction here?

Thought I would pass the information that Pitt is in again tonight for Cockburn. It appears that all the talk about Pitt not being a contender for Cockburn is noise. Pitt looks like a dangerous contender for all these recruits.

1. Morton isn't coming to Pitt. It's not Capel's fault. I am sure his family will think he can go "big-time." He's not even on the SMF radar. Capel will do fine without him.

2. My problem with Steel writing these updates is that he is overly positive about Pitt's recruiting chances and their recruits. It's not real. He thinks we are going to land a Top class every year and when we don't, he makes every recruit out to be an under the radar superstar. He is just guessing. He was royally wrong about Kithcart but right on Johnson.

I will read his stuff but I don't put much stock into it because he can't separate the fanboy in him. Don't get me wrong, it's great to have fans like him but you shouldn't rely on him for recruiting updates.

What happened to tOSU with Morton?

I tend to agree with DT - I really don't think this is Steel posting...not his writing style. Heck, he doesn't even use the word athletic once :)

I’m quite certain this isn’t Steel.

The difference this year is we have Capel, one of the best recruiters in college basketball. He has a good chance on everyone.

SMF. Thanks for telling us we aren’t getting Morton. I feel better about getting him now.

I don't need to reveal where my information is from, who it is from, who I know, or all what I know. Do not call me out, again, without facts. Maybe a piece or 2 could be off, but it is not far off. This is 7 days old from Corey Evans himself. My report is far more spruced up with a lot more gravy on it with tons more detail then this little paragraph from rivals.com. Maybe you should stop reading about Sean Miller and stop insulting people?

Ethan Morton
had one busy fall, as he visited close to 10 colleges from East to West. Morton is one of the more talented, skilled and recruited guard prospects along the East Coast out of the junior ranks. When you throw in his high-level grades it is easy to see why so many have placed a heavy value upon him.

Morton has put things on the back-burner, as his junior season just kicked off.Ohio State’sChris Holtmannwas in attendance, as were assistants fromPittandPurdue. Those three are among the small group that should be seen as top contenders for his commitment. Throw inIndiana, too, andMichigancould always remain a threat despite the Wolverines taking the early commitment of four-star junior

This is all intriguing stuff. But I have a question on what a current high school junior must do academically and in the time frame necessary to re-classify from 2020 to 2019?

I can see how a current HS SR can maybe accelerate and graduate a semester early to enroll in January. But what does a current HS JR have to do to move up his graduation an entire year? Can they complete their SR year of HS in summer school?

He has over a 4.0 I know that much.
It doesn't take much extra to complete the criteria

I'm sure his GPA is great. But you still need the necessary number of high school credits to graduate. And you must meet core course requirements, too. That's more of the question: how can that be accelerated by an entire year?

Don't get brought down by vocal minority. The VAST majority appreciate the effort. May the force be with you.

I have ZERO idea if Vader is legit or not. But it’s very interesting to me the number of people who seem to just accept that he knows something. Someone just signs up to a message board and makes a couple posts and he’s accepted as some kind of recruiting expert or in the know. I get that everyone is eager for good news or something that sounds promising - we shall see I guess.

Personally, I don't assume anything he says means we'll get anybody. It IS interesting to read about guys we may be recruiting though. Why not leave it at that and not make more out of it. Nobody, not even the top recruiting gurus, can guarantee anything, yet people hang on their every word. Why not just read Vader for entertainment, with no guarantees, and just be happy we aren't reading another Dixon or Justice Kithcart thread. Lord knows we get enough of those. At least let the rest of us enjoy it. If it's fantasy, fine, isn't most of sports though?

Generally speaking, I agree with you. But I'll give Vader credit. It's pretty well done regardless.

Basically, I take just about all recruiting info with a healthy dose of skepticism ... that is ... unless it's reported in the Tribune Review!
:D

All recruiting is speculation. This seems too specific to be entirely made up.

Outside of your Dribbles, this has been one of the better reads on here.

I enjoyed reading it too. It was certainly a good run down on our targets.

I have often said to my friends, let's get 3 of us and stand in a line. Then see how many people stand behind, just because they think it is what is supposed to do. I guess what I am saying, many people like the information and accept and appreciate it just because it is what they want to hear.

Don't get me wrong, it is what I want to hear and I am hopeful too. I don't know how accurate any of this is, but it is also well presented, not that makes it anymore true.

What I believe most people appreciate is taking the time to gather other's information and writing a summary so they don't need to spend the time reading OTHER sites.

Pitt needs to land 3 of the players for 2019, then 3 more in 2020. Anything else is a bonus.

I initially joined the pay site for recruiting info , but realized the pay ( meaning no disrespect ) side had no meaningful insight that one couldn't get elsewhere .
I don't really care who they're recruiting I just want to know who they're signing ! Until the player signs on the dotted line it's mostly conjecture anyway .

JD and KS both recruited highly rated players ...big deal ...signing them is all that matters .

Whomever Vader is it appears he's providing some info in an earnest way . Keep it up and those who are skeptics don't read his posts .

Your posting reminded me of this commercial... :p

Ok. From what I read this evening. Christian Brown from Oak Hill, Cockburns teammate, is also visiting Pitt. And Pitt is in his top 4. 4 star ranked 65th in the country. And Corey Evans said he is underrated. Whoh nelly there is some juicy info coming out, all pro Pitt. Go get them all Capel. Keep it coming Vader, the Capel force is strong!!!

Or what? What exactly will you do?

In the movies he could just make a fist and squeeze the throat of a dude standing across the room from him. Dead, just like that. Just think what he could do with the power of the internet behind him!
