VB: Class of 2027 thread

Surprisingly slow first day for almost everyone. Texas got Henley Anderson who played on the U19 national team. 6'2" OH. PSU picked up Nejari Crooks who also played on the U19 national team. She's an opposite/setter. Would be wild if they actually used her that way. I could have sworn I saw two commits for PSU but those were the two big names I saw.
The other PSU commit is rumored to be MB Taylor Harrington from Virginia. Crooks comes in as the 11th best recruit according to Prep Dig for 2027.
Just confirmed by her on Instagram.
Just a note, some coaches and players aren’t posting on X anymore. Just instagram.

Williams is currently ranked 9th overall on VB adrenaline/12th overall on PrepDig. She's one I mentioned on the other thread as someone who wouldn't surprise me as a commit, but all I had was some reading between the lines, nothing truly concrete - I just saw a photo of her on campus.

Kyla Williams and Olivia Henry are mentioned with Pitt on VolleyTalk but Henry is thought to be a PSU lean.
Nothing against Henry but IMG is quickly becoming, in my opinion, a real problem in the college recruiting sphere. For years they've run NCSA which is a recruiting service. They recently absorbed SportsRecruits which is another service that was relatively modest in cost and provides a decent service. It's a problem because tournaments and clubs are more closely affiliating with these services. If a kid wants some attention at a tournament, they have to create a profile with a specific service in some cases. These are often free but that touches off a series of phone calls and emails to try to get you to subscribe and get even more services. Unfortunately, many coaches rely on these services to evaluate talent because there aren't always easy or inexpensive ways to do it. Again, money, anything to grab more money. Worth keeping an eye on.

I was just going to post this. Let the guessing begin. Per a different site, Henry verballed to PSU.
My guess....Caroline Ward (Indiana) and Keilani Ledaja-Brewer (North Carolina). I'll add Kyla Williams (Ohio) as a wild card.
Pretty much all of the “experts” at VolleyTalk have her among the top 5-10 OHs in the Class of 27.
PrepDig has her at #24 overall in the 2027 class. VB Adrenaline has her at #18 overall in the 2027 class.

Looks like IMG’s rankings (I know nothing about them so TIFWIW) had her at #8 overall a few months ago. Paywalled article suggests that she was talking to programs like Louisville, Texas and Florida. Seems good.
Oh, none of us know anything about the rankings. Haha. Just giving the people a general idea of their caliber.
Definitely saw a photo of her camping at Louisville. That will be the case for many of the recruits (Leilani Ledaja-Brewer, Mckenna McIntosh/Carson Caraway/Camille Csernick) Pitt is after down the stretch.

Volleyball recruiter has her as a 5 star and #22 overall and #3 OPP
I'm sitting here feeling for her Dad. Three D1 players? Can't even imagine what that cost in club fees and travel. This kid played in tournaments from FL to AZ and is headed to USAV nationals, yet. Her club team is ranked 13th (USAV), nationally. Went 20-7 in qualifiers.

As of now Nebraska is absolutely killing it with their 2027 class.....5 consensus top 100 recruits. Louisville and PSU have 3 each. Pitt and Texas have 1 each. We await word on who is the 2nd Petrone 'Pitt Is It' message from yesterday. I thought Ledaja-Brewer was a Pitt lean. I was completely wrong. She's headed to Louisville.
Every year, it seems Nebraska recruits a class of 5 or 6 top 100 recruits. And Cook (now retired) also hit up the portal to plug in one or two missing pieces. How do they have room for them since volleyball scholarships are limited to 15 or 16 (I think)?
The answer is that he culled out the players that didn’t live up to expectations in their first year or two and either coaxed or forced them out. They either entered the portal or their scholarship was not renewed. It was ruthless, but he never was widely criticized for it in the media.

The second one has to be between Kyla Williams & McKenna McIntosh, I think.
Kyla: she gets to continue to play with Hoppe (same club team), she's been on campus super recently, her family can easily come to all home games
McKenna - she's clearly a priority recruit for them. I haven't seen as many photos of the coaches with a recruit away from campus since Ayanna. It's also been awhile since they pulled talent out of California. I think we're her best option and she wrote on her PrepDig page that she wants to go a 'large school outside of CA'. That being said, it's hard for me to gauge her interest in Pitt.
#12 on prepdig’s rankings. Pretty good start to the class.
Boom! VBRecruiter has her #9 overall. PrepDig has her at 12th overall. VBallRecruiter has her at 18th overall with a 5 star rating.
Her (6'4), Emch (6'4), and Smallwood (6'5) - looking like the Redwood forest in the middle.
I think what impresses me the most about Williams is her feet. She's really quick side to side and her footwork is pretty good. She is a very dynamic hitter and can hit from just about anywhere. She also has a pretty nice serve which is cool for a middle. For as good as Fisher has been recruiting, this is a pretty big addition. She'll be ready to play when she steps onto campus.
