I wish we knew when the Saturday game was going to be, and how much of a conflict it was going to be with the basketball game.
FWIW, the four elite 8 games last year were at 4, 6, 8, and 10 PM….and I doubt Pitt gets the 10 PM slot. So the 6 PM basketball game is all but guaranteed to be right in the middle of vball.
Got mine for Saturday. Out of town for work Thursday, but confident the team will take care of business.
Wouldn't Saturday be a potential Pitt vs Louisville matchup, should both win on Thursday?I decided to do the opposite. Since I have tickets to the basketball game on Saturday I just bought Thursday.
Sweet 16 times were announced. Pitt plays at 2:30 PM. The other Pittsburgh match is the first of the day at noon.

Well…people here watched a meaningless volleyball match vs a bad Syracuse team in a pseudo high school gym…rather than watch our soccer gals in the elite 8…Vb is in the ncaa tourney and there is a Q?
PItt - Louisville Vball was not opposite PItt / BC ( or any PItt football game )Well…people here watched a meaningless volleyball match vs a bad Syracuse team in a pseudo high school gym…rather than watch our soccer gals in the elite 8…
And plenty watched a meaningless football game vs a bad Boston College team instead of watching our Vball ladies take out Louisville.
So yeah. People have misguided priorities as far as I’m concerned. Lol.L
I said misguided “as far as I AM concerned”. Surely you and others who did the same will disagree. And that’s fine.PItt - Louisville Vball was not opposite PItt / BC ( or any PItt football game )
I mean - I chose to watch PItt - Cuse ( w the elite 8 soccer on my phone ) cause my daughter and I absolutely love PItt volleyball and love the sport and they clinched an ACC championship.
Not sure that’s misguided.
At any rate - I expect an another good crowd Thursday afternoon and an unbelievable crowd Saturday - maybe a record breaker .
Don’t disagree. Afternoon game is a total bummer. But I suspect this is the schedule they needed to get all of the games on one of the ESPN cable networks (as opposed to just ESPN+)They did the same thing last year, timewise, and it's just so stupid. How many people are going to be watching that noon on Thursday game, or the 2:00 or 2:30 games?
It would make so much more sense to split those games up over two days if you actually want more people to watch. This isn't the men's basketball tournament, where people are going to take time off from work to watch the games on a weekday afternoon.

My guess is that we will have the earliest time slot for Saturday. My guess is around 2 pm. All other matches are in Central or Pacific time zone.Yeah, it is. But even at that the schedule is still going to not "work". I mean the second game on ESPN2 starts 2 hours after the first game. If that first game goes to four or five sets it won't even be close to over in two hours. Heck, if the Creighton - Louisville game goes four or five sets, our game won't even start until, say, 3:30-ish, and yet the game after ours on ESPNU is schedule for 4:30.
They did the same thing last year (and probably years before as well) and all it did was make it so that the starts of several of the games weren't on the channels they were supposed to be on. Their timing of the games only works if all the games only go three sets.
Yeah, this is what I'm thinking which might actually help attendance. My guess is that we will have the earliest time slot for Saturday. My guess is around 2 pm. All other matches are in Central or Pacific time zone.

I'm furious, why is the game on thursday at the Fitz? I cannot attend because of work, but my girlfriend is off and was planning to go with a friend, but since the tickets sold out in 5 minutes she missed out. Not playing at the pete is ridiculous.
That has to the reason.Probably because they needed the same venue for both days and they can't play at the Pete on Saturday.
This is an NCAA-run tournament. Pitt is not calling the shots or empowered to make any changes.Big miss not having the hoops game scheduled for Sunday. I bet they could’ve sold 10k tickets for the elite 8 rematch with Louisville
Kind of a dumb question.....but I assume our reserved seats for the WSU-Pitt match are also good for the Louisville-Creighton match at noon should you want to see that game also....yes?They did the same thing last year, timewise, and it's just so stupid. I think that the poster meant that Pitt shouldn't have had a hoops game scheduled on that date, just in case volleyball got a 1 seed. This is an NCAA-run tournament. Pitt is not calling the shots or empowered to make any changes.
Probably wouldn't have been difficult but it's a major miss by the school. Upside is that it will be loud and packed to the rafters.I think that the poster meant that Pitt shouldn't have had a hoops game scheduled on that date, just in case volleyball got a 1 seed.
Hoorah to that!Probably wouldn't have been difficult but it's a major miss by the school. Upside is that it will be loud and packed to the rafters.
