Got to meet Coach Fisher at the UCF game. He explained how seeding relates to the opportunity to host NCAA matches. Top 16 seeds host the first 2 rounds. Top 4 seeds host the round of 16 and the quarters. The final 4 this year is in, guess what, Pittsburgh. So if we can keep our #4 ranking we get to be host for the entire tournament, which means if we keep winning, all our games would be at home. That, hopefully, would give us the boost we need to get to the final 4.

Technically our ranking doesn't have anything to do with it. The volleyball tournament is seeded by a committee, just like the basketball tournament is. You could be ranked fourth and seeded fifth, for instance.

Also, the top remaining seed in each regional hosts the regional semis and finals, which generally speaking will be the top four seeds (because the top four seeds pretty much always make it to the Sweet 16), but if a top four seed loses in the first two rounds then the highest remaining seed in that region would host.
