Many places. but not all
Sitting in the south club Friday with my female friend, I was watching the game on the big screen when I noticed a woman with an older man and a younger teenager. The woman was wearing a 16 Voytik jersey.
She and her table mates were cheering wildly when Pitt started to play football.

So I watched some more....it had to be Chad's Mom.

A few moments later she got up to walk outside and she walked past my table. I asked if she was Chad's Mom and she said yes. I told her that her son was a fine athlete and I wished he was playing more and that I admired at how well he has handled himself. She was so sweet....she smiled and thanked me for saying that and that it meant alot to her.

She then went outside (we did a few minutes later) and cheered just as wildly as before as did her daughter, husband and I presume father in law.

It can't be easy for any of them...but they reek with dignity and class. It would be so easy to sulk or be less than gracious. It occurred to me, Chad is his parents son and has taken their class and dignity with him.

I do wish he would play more because I think he has more to offer and has sacrificed for the sake of the team....who knows if he will play more or not.

BUT.....he has something more important. Personal dignity.

He gets it from his parents.

BTW....Mrs. Voytik is very, very easy on the eyes!;)

great post.. You are right, it would be tough, I'd be the obnoxious dad screaming to "put in my son" every 2 minutes, probably be escorted out of all games. Chad seems like a class act, not surprised to hear this about his family..

Hmmm...so you attended the game with a "female friend." Tell about her (specifically how do you define the term "friend"?)? Pictures?

Appreciate your post. Easy to root for Chad V.

Go Pitt.

I don't claim to have met all of the players and their parents, but I gotta say that a lot of the players who were recruited in the past four years (or so) have been great "character guys", and their parents seem to be class acts, too.

It's much more difficult to be a "character guy" if your parents aren't. Hats off to the moms and dads

Great post. That young man has handled this with complete class. He puts the team first. I recall he hosted Peterman on his visit and helped recruit him to transfer to Pitt. Takes a big man to do that. If he chooses to transfer, I would completely understand that and wish him well and root for him to succeed.

Sat next to Chad's grandparents seats for Louisville game, friend of familly was using the seats, I told him had to be tough on family, he told me Chad's father is a Physcian and that is what Chad is pursuing and that was a factor in choosing Pitt. Hope it works out for him.

I guess anyone can take the MCATS, but it's funny that he's finance major looking to a career as a Dr.

Gives him a good fallback career if it doesn't work out with medical school or he wants to be in hospital/medical finance. Have a few friends who went Finance/Economics to Med School.

That was the crazy part about his recruitment. He was a pretty big time QB recruit, to be honest our medical school is the only reason we were in the running for a kid from small-town Tennessee. It was between Pitt and Vandy. I hope he at least continues to play football next season, for one he is a good backup compared to what we usually have. Also, I actually would really like to see them find another position for Chad to play as you usually hope that your backup QB does not have to see the field very often and I think he's a good enough athlete to be on the field somewhere.

Had to go with the better thrower once Conner went down. Voytik is a very smart player and a good athlete. WR or safety?

I would think with his speed and versatility, he could be used as a wingback...but what the hell do I know. I have liked him ever since he took over in the 2nd half in Detroit against BGSU and won!
