At the conclusion of yesterday’s game I felt a close similarity to that 2008 team that also lost the Sun Bowl.
1. Not a lot points scored. Poor playcalling. QB looks lost. (Watson and Cavanaugh) (Pickett and Stull)
2. Defense played well and looked promising for next season. Talent finally looks to be in place.
3. Lost to a team that they should’ve beat easily.
Here’s where they may differ:
Wanny knew he needed to bring in change to get the team over the top after a decent season that still left a lot to be desired. But that meant burning a bridge with a long time friend and another Pitt man. We know how the story goes, cavanaugh was dismissed, in came Cignetti. Stull and the offense improved onto a 10 win season.
Pat needs to do this.
