It included no apology to the fans for what occurred out on the court tonight.
I would have thought that would be appropriate.

What fans?? There could not have been 500 people there. It included no apology to the fans for what occurred out on the court tonight.

Any ideas as to why that would be?What fans?? There could not have been 500 people there.
C’mon, Gary. That is ridiculous. It included no apology to the fans for what occurred out on the court tonight.

You have always been very fair in dealing with me.C’mon, Gary. That is ridiculous.
C’mon, Gary. That is ridiculous.
Yes, I think it is ridiculous. Who is he going to apologize to, the 1000 that were there? Just not a big fan of it. You can see that he and the guys are trying. The effort was there, we just aren’t a good shooting team and that is the major problem. We got over 30 FT’sc which is great, but we made less than half of them and that is not going to change this year. We are a team that is constructed to play good defense, but we are not constructed to be a good shooting team. You have always been very fair in dealing with me.
You have never heard a coach offer such an apology? You don’t think the fans are extremely down after experiencing this type of opening day loss?
The Citadel demolished us from the opening tip.
You think it is ridiculous to expect our coach to acknowledge that and accept some responsibility?
Just give it some thought.
Just not a fan of it.![]()
Florida State's Loss This Weekend Was So Disappointing That Coach Mike Norvell Released a Full Apology
College football fans couldn't believe it when the Jacksonville State Gamecocks upset the Florida State Seminoles in Saturday's game.outsider.com
Understood - Thanks for the repliesJust not a fan of it.
I watched this again. There is not even a “token” taking ownership of this fiasco. It included no apology to the fans for what occurred out on the court tonight.

I'm sorry that I'm going to go here ... but I really have to.
I don't recall you once ever asking for Stallings to give an apology, nor did ever come close to it. In fact, Capel comes closer it seems to me.
I don’t really want to go there, but I guess I have to. I would much rather limit the discussion to our “current” coach.
Which coach came closer to shouldering responsibility? Which coach had more excuses?
I know my answer. At least that is the way “it seems to me”. I would welcome other posters thoughts on that, if I was not determined to keep the focus on the issues with our current coach.
They’re both disasters so at this point what’s the difference. But since you asked I think you hold Capel’s feet much closer to the fire than you did Stallings’.I don’t really want to go there, but I guess I have to. I would much rather limit the discussion to our “current” coach.

If we must - The closest approximate lossI think the current coach comes closer. Not by much, but I saw none of it from Stallings.
First, this is not about me. It makes no difference who I was easier or harder on.They’re both disasters so at this point what’s the difference. But since you asked I think you hold Capel’s feet much closer to the fire than you did Stallings’.
And I didn’t watch the video. But I don’t need to see it to think that he doesn’t need to mass apologize either. He needs to get to work to get it corrected and get more talent. If he doesn’t he’ll be gone sooner than later.
You watch enough sports that I’m sure you realize the vast majority of these pressers are coach speak. Maybe it’s more annoying when your team is getting drummed and want answers. There are some exceptions but most aren’t gone give or reveal too much. For better or worse that’s just the way it is.

Second, this was his first post game (and loss) after his building a mansion Twitter post. It also comes on the heels of mass defections and another arrest. Yet it treats it as just another post game?
I think we deserve a wee bit more.
Did you view the video? But with Stallings -- you did make it about ME, did you not?
I think this is a ridiculous request. As is expecting anything meaningful out of these post game press conferences. I feel the same way about people who constantly complain about Duzz “watching the tape.”You have always been very fair in dealing with me.

Can’t agree with you here DT. You can bemoan s lot of things with Stallings but I always thought he was pretty genuine and open in his post-game interviews. I thought they were good because to me they had more than just coachspeak.I think the current coach comes closer. Not by much, but I saw none of it from Stallings.
Did you watch the video?Do I really need to go back and find posts for you calling me out for subliminally trying to turn posters against Stallings?

Maybe I felt that way because after each game I usually had strong opinions on why they lost, what they did good or bad, etc. Abd Stallings seemed to always emphasize the the same things that I had strong thoughts on.
In the same post it’s not about you yet we (includes you) DESERVE more. Ok, got it.First, this is not about me. It makes no difference who I was easier or harder on.

Never said that. I said you always had a subliminal messaging always related to Dixon.Bethlehem John agreed if I remember correctly.Do I really need to go back and find posts for you calling me out for subliminally trying to turn posters against Stallings?
Yeah I don’t know about an apology, But I’m not one to look for that, more interested in hearing genuine and honest thoughts, not just coachspeak.Fair enough. I just don't ever remember a flat out apology to the fans that gary2 is requesting the Capel give after last night.
Do I really need to go back and find posts for you calling me out for subliminally trying to turn posters against Stallings?
It is all in this thread. No need to search. Here's what I think:
I think the key word is "expect". While I think we'll make the tourney, I don't think it is absolute. I think we have the talent to make the NCAA's, don't believe who is coaching this team at this time matters much, but do realize the ACC schedule is a grinder.
So, I don't believe it is reasonable to "expect", but I do believe that we as fans have to believe we can make the tourney and need to support the team and the coach like we think we'll make the tourney.
As far as DT's message, I think he does compare the coaches some, as all of us do. I know he doesn't do it to subliminally create bickering. His posts may end up doing that however, just because of the nature of his posts. DT doesn't usually have a major agenda, so his posts get many, many thoughts and opinions. This brings out the best and worst of Pitt fans.
I've rarely seen DT angered as I have in his response to Gary. It wasn't directed toward me, so I guess it's hard to gauge how I would feel with the same kind of post directed at me. IMO, I believe DT overreacted a bit to what was said since I didn't take it to be a huge slight.
Yeah I don’t know about an apology, But I’m not one to look for that, more interested in hearing genuine and honest thoughts, not just coachspeak.
Or maybe another approach that I like, the short n sweet but brutally honest one-liners Tomlin always seems to have.
I watched this again. There is not even a “token” taking ownership of this fiasco.
Capel treated this interview as any other post game interview.
it wasn’t and he shouldn’t have had. It was Florida State losing to Jacksonville State.
We got demolished from the tip against Citadel. It was embarrassing.
Show some embarrassment.
I did not make it about me. I made it about Stallings treatment. In the same post it’s not about you yet we (includes you) DESERVE more. Ok, got it.
I’m on Twitter but often times I realize how silly it is. I don’t see him getting there. Ever. But that was posted on 6/24. Given where we were if you even expected a solid foundation by yesterday I’d suggest you recalibrate. But I’ll repeat - I don’t see anything that makes me think he’s getting where he thinks he’s going to go either.
Oh so we’re back to you defending your boy and that whole agenda. That makes more sense then.I did not make it about me. I made it about Stallings treatment.
That was a very unpopular opinion that led to certain members of the board making it “about me.”
I think Vader is currently experiencing some of that.
