I haven't watched TTU all season. but I blocked everything else out and focused on fede. here's what he did:
* he played a good amount of minutes
* on offense, he literally didn't move the entire game except: he came out to the 3 point line and set one lazy screen. and one time, his defender just completely left him - his teammate passed the ball and he dunked it. my 11 yo son could've completed that play (against the same competition). his offense consisted of him standing just outside the paint under the basket, waiting to get a rebound (he didn't get any)..
* on defense - he also just stood there. the dude he was guarding wasn't great. but when that guy got the ball under the paint, he just went by fede and scored. he didn't do this a lot as that's not Houston's game plan. but his defense was almost nothing.
folks, it's fantasy land that fede changes this current team's fortunes whatsoever. he didn't adjust the opponent's offense whatsoever. he didn't make Houston adjust their defense whatsoever. his contribution was being a very tall dude, who, at times, got in the way of the other team's tall dude. he offered nothing else. he ran back on defense and got an easy rebound once. again, my 11yo would've done the same.
the reason last year's team stunk is they didn't get anything from the 5. we can say cam hasn't been great but he's no worse than fede. at least cam scores a bit. fede is in no way some sort of defensive wizard. he stunk at the p5 level and still does.
