Watson, Pickett, and other observations

The Canada and Watson offenses do have a lot in common. And Peterman, especially senior Peterman, is better than sophomore Pickett and that's a big part of it.

But my main argument for Canada over Watson is how he tweaked his system. There was just more unbalanced lines, more pre-snap shifts, and more variations in how fly and jet sweeps were run. Somewhat academic since he chose to leave though.

You guys are being way too harsh on Watson.

I watched the game again last night. Play calling, scheme and game plan weren't that bad, imo. The senseless penalties are my biggest gripe.

The OC has to game plan and call plays that he not only feels will be effective, but also be comfortable they can execute. There is a reason Pitt doesn't throw to the middle of the field often.

I like Pickett. He's a gamer. But he is what he is. Since he took over last year, a lot of people are trying to make him out to br something he isn't. If Pitt has to rely more than a buck fifty out of the passing game in order to win, they are probably screwed.

Daniel Jones and the offensive guru at Duke mustered 6 pts against Clemson. The biggest issue, obviously is talent. Saturday night was men against boys. It was actually respectable overall given the talent gap and conditions.

My biggest issue is in the passing game. We should have been using 3 step drops. We knew Pickett would not have much time against Miami and Clemson.

Or at least mix it up..........the offense is so freaking predictable. You can predict what they are going to do by the personnel package.
