Way OT: Your ESPN consumption

Feel free to take this informal survey:

Has your consumption of ESPN gone up or down over the last 10-20 years and what are your reasons for the change, if any?

A lot less because I watch less sports and more TV shows. We are in the Golden Age of television right now. I got the new season of Narcos right now. How could I justify watching any sporting event not involving Pitt. After that, I can start up the last season of Homeland. I'm still seasons behind on Shameless. Too much good TV and there's no sign of that ending anytime soon

Papi suddenly disappeared in November and there was nothing said about it. I think he may have medical problems. He made a few cameos this week so maybe he’ll be back.
He’s hilarious. Hope for a speedy recovery.

it's funny that i'm completely the opposite. i can't watch these shows for years. for me, they're just dumb and make no sense. the only thing i can watch is sports.

and my kids are little (but don't sleep!) so i can't watch anything R rated. i can't watch any movies and probably won't for another at least 5+ years.

NFL and NBA. I don't know if they over cover College football so much, except during the season. However, it is pretty much 8-10 teams that matter.

I just think sports should be covered in season and then in offseason, events (like draft or trades) but ESPN seems to go way out of the way drumming the NBA and NFL.

And now they cover MMA....yuck. Talk about lowest common denominator.

Going to say this is an uninformed take on MMA.

kind of the same. it's sports content, aka college football, hoops and that's about it. i will peek over on Saturday mornings for college gameday though. i still think there is a tiny bit of value in that pregame show but mostly i just turn it on to read the funny signs in the background..

sports / pop culture commentary just don't do it for me. what does someone on espn have to say about an issue that i cant make up for myself? silly "fill in" content that takes up air space until the actual sports games are on.. they'd be better off just replaying games from the night before in my opinion.

sportscenter was fun back in the day but again, that format is outdated now. you don't need to wait 8 hours to watch baseball or football highlights in today's world.

i don't even do gameday b/c there's always a kid activity and more importantly, i don't care. unless it would be pitt but that hasn't happened since 2013 and probably never will again.

my 9yo loves watching sports so that's what we watch in the evening. after that, it's too late for me to be bothered with anything that requires attention/thought.

I tune in ESPN for games and 30/30s. Seldom watch their highlight shows or politicized sportscenters. I don't follow the NBA or soccer so those are immediate clicks to another channel. I prefer NFL, NHL, MLB networks and ACC, SEC, Big 10. So to answer your question...MUCH less.

So people who
seems like the same people complaining about too much NBA coverage are the same ones complaining about ESPN being too political or PC. Hmmmmmmm....

so people who don’t like the NBA are implied racists although our favorite nfl teams, college basketball and football teams are overwhelmingly minorities...Got it.

When all you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.

Ummmm......I am sorry, if you don't think ESPN is too political or PC then you are Rachel Maddow's daughter. It has become way over the top. Case in point, was ESPN going all in on Myles Garrett's lies.

nah people with poor reading skills often are though.

my comment was about the intersection of NBA haters and people that complain about political correctness or SpOrts mixing with politics. They’re usually just mad that they can’t say things about women and minorities that they used to be able to get away with without repercussions. And they’re fine with Curt Schilling being a Trump schlub but god forbid a black athlete speak up.

and give me a break on “people can’t be racist if they like football cause most the guys that play are black.” Tell that to all the guys that get called the n word al the time by fans.

Wow! Talk about stereotyping, and jumping to preconceived, closed minded conclusions.

You might want to save your agnst for those who actually feel that way, not for those you label as such.

Its way way way down for me. As a kid I watched everyday and read the newspaper everyday. Now I seldom if ever watch ESPN, the morning shows are unwatchable, I will occasionally watch sportscenter if nothing else is on.
