Interesting leaving this late. Stats weren't impressive but athletic and played hard. Losing a upperclass backup pt guard that knew the system. Prior coaching staff top 100 recruit that seemed to never get comfortable. Down to two left

Should not be a big surprise, IMHO. It didn't appear she was going to see much PT next season. Too many players on the roster ahead of her for PT at guard, I imagine.

Returning players who got more PT last season at guard includes--Harris, Green and Hayford. Incoming guards who appear to have more promise are Everett (transfer) and King (freshman).

Wishing her well wherever she winds up!

Jahsyni Knight seems like a really nice person, she played hard, and she handles the ball well, but she just didn’t offer an offensive threat. She rarely even attempted a jump-shot of any length. I think the lone three-pointer last season, and probably of her Pitt career, was a desperation, end of the half, half-court shot.

With her departure, the only question is does Pitt has a capable backup PG for the few minutes a game where Day is rested, and the times when Day gets into foul trouble...

Go Pitt.

She was at my table at the Party in the Paint event last fall. She is a great young woman. But as you describe her problems were on the court. She just can't shoot the ball. She shot 27.0% from the field last year, which was actually an improvement on the 24.6% she shot as a freshman. And the rest of her game just isn't good enough to make up for having that kind of complete non-threat to shoot the ball on the court.

27% might get her a few minutes on last yrs men’s team !

Top 100 recruit...that tells you all you need to know regarding some of
these recruiting experts. She seemed like a career back up in my eyes.
I'm not totally criticizing recruiting ratings and reports...they obviously
serve a purpose and more often than not separate the real talent from
the average. They also are usually correct IMO when it comes to picking
the elites.
My guess is she sees what's now coming into this program. Coach White
probably had a realistic sit-down with her and indicated where he sees
her in comparison to the other guards. He'll also probably help her in
selecting a program to which she can transfer and actually be effective.
That program quite obviously is a lower level than the ACC.
Despite everything I said, I feel she can play, but as I said....a lower level.
She seems like a great team member, hustles and is quite athletic. This
will more likely be better for her, at least basketball wise.

Respect your opinion but disagree. Coaching styles make a difference and you don't know what goes on in locker rooms. I'm sure White preferred to play "his" kids. Whitney left and she was acc caliber. Maybe change is best. Coach came out saying he was moving in another direction it was no secret. You never heard anything positive about Suzies kids. I wish her luck and applaud her for staying after the coaching change.

Not sure what you "disagree" with. I certainly agree that "coaching styles
make a difference." My main point was she probably wouldn't see
much playing time with the team's current status. I have no idea whether
the transfer was her idea, the coaches, or both. As far as Whitney being
ACC caliber.....well maybe border line ACC. I doubt she'd see much playing
time on most ACC teams.
But then again, that's just my opinion.

Not 27% from three, which would be bad enough. 27% from the field. Almost all of that was on two pointers, because she only took two threes all season, one of which was a half court buzzer beater that was the only three pointer (in only five tries) that she made in her whole career.

27% on threes would be really bad. 27% on twos is absolutely awful. There are no men's players that got any sort of real playing time who have shot that bad in a very, very long time.

If you can't shoot, not even a little bit, you can't play at this level.

So she shot 50% on 3's last year. Obviously she should have been shooting more of them, rather than the 2's. Bad coaching, wasn't it? (Just kidding!)

Still puzzles me a little why Coach Suzie did such a poor job recruiting and retaining players. She had great credentials - but didn’t seem to have the eye for talent. And apparently she never saw a post player she liked...

Duquesne has continued to recruit well with Dan Burt taking over as head coach, so that tells you something...

Go Pitt.

I would think with her background that she did have an "eye for talent."
However, having the background and the "eye for talent" doesn't
necessarily result in being able to land top recruits.
IMO recruiting skills are a whole different ball game. Having a great
playing resume only goes so far. Same thing with recognizing talent.
Anyone remotely familiar with sales, understands closing ability.
Calipari obviously is a "closer" he was no great player. Manning at
Wake Forrest is not; Patrick Ewing, Chris Mullin; the list goes on and on.
As far as player retention, I believe there's a whole lot of factors. I
don't know anything about Suzie's personality, but I've heard a lot of
reports that were negative.
OTOH...Coach White seems to be able to close. His best players
last season were the frosh that he brought in to the program. This
year he's recruited even better. This after a losing record, with Pitt at the
bottom of the ACC during his two seasons here.
Anyway, just my two cents on this issue.

I was saying that tongue in cheek !
