We have to give the new coach

Do you know how bad that would make Pitt fans look?

However it makes them look is irrelevant. It simply is what will happen if Stallings is the hire. There will be massive non-renewals by season ticket holders.

Our fan base wants someone they believe (or at least they can hope) will return Pitt to where it was when they had Blair and made the elite 8. Practically no one will believe there is any possibility for that under Stallings.

So, people will walk at a Stallings hire and won't return unless he surprises and immediately does better than Dixon did this year. Stallings will get almost zero fan support unless or until he proves far better than the fans expect he will.

a chance. Pitt fans are already looked at as people that chased away a "great" coach, we can't look like we are fans that won't even give the new coach a chance.
Stallings has already proved that he is not a good coach. Pitt doesn't need him to prove it again here.

If Stallings is indeed Pitt's new coach, Barnes should be fired on the spot. The new coach is supposed to bring energy to the program, not rage against the program.

How is the BB program better off with Stallings in charge?

If Barnes didn't have a better coach than Dixon "lined up", he should not have started down this course. Drew, Keates, Wade, etc. would at least be tolerable since they are young coaches on the way up as opposed to an average coach about to be fired and the players could be against due to his treatment of Jeter?

Also remember that Barnes did not hire Narduzzi and and gets no credit for the hire. If his first major decision id to pick Stallings, he is not a Power 5 AD.

I'd much rather have Duquesne's coach than Stallings.

You do realize he can be given the excuse Jamie was given, that winning at Vanderbilt is extremely difficult, that he is a good coach in an "impossible" situation. Supposedly like Dixon and Pitt, that Pitt fans were unreasonable to expect their team to win and hold him accountable when they didn't.

It seems like he is hated on a personal level and that is a whole different ballgame though
