We need St. Peters coach

The crazy thing is, there’s nothing special about Saint Peter’s. Obviously they’re good and the players have talent, but they’re just fundamentally sound (maybe that *is* special nowadays). Great set plays, good rebounding team, and they hit their free throws. They impressed me when they were down by two possessions multiple times in the final minutes yet stayed composed and stuck to the offense. No one started jacking up shots trying to play hero ball. Well-deserved win!

Seton Hall loses its coach and will replace Willard with hottest coaching commodity of the tournament.
I cant believe those SEC schools couldn't wait a week and went with lottery tickets instead of sending a Brinks truck to Jersey City. He seems destined for SHU but if it came down to a bidding war, they cant compete with the $EC

That’s exactly it. They just keep playing their game and don’t flinch. These teams they keep upsetting get away from their normal sets, play too much one on one, and tighten up. Kudos to Holloway and St. Peter’s.

Yeah, you could tell Purdue got flustered when they couldn’t score the first five minutes of the second half. Turning point was that shot clock violation when they didn’t even advance the ball inside the perimeter. They’re a lot of fun to watch. That’s how basketball SHOULD be played. Hope they keep winning!

Teams get away from their normal sets because St Petes plays incredible, unrelenting full court pressure defense for the entire game.

St. Peter’s deserves credit, but Purdue should have been more active on offense and maintained their aggressiveness.
There is another reason they were not as active down the stretch. They had to chase around the Peacocks on defense all night long. St Petes runs the most and effective motion I have seen in a long time.

If you are implying they were tired, then that is ridiculous. I do love the job Holloway is doing. Great sets, defensive adjustments, and they are willing to run thru a wall for him.

Painter should have run more sets for Ivey. That kid is a very good player and future Top 5 pick in the NBA. I pin the blame on Painter. Poor game plan, they came out flat, and they got away from their sets.

Guess you're pretty hard on coaches. How do you know what his game plan was? And yes, players can get tired especially their 2 bigs who go close to 300 bills.

It was as if they knew their advantage was to slow the game down, so they did it to a fault. They needed to get some easy buckets after they cracked the press. Instead, they pulled it back out and tried running their half court set... except with only like half of a shot clock to work with. Pressing them wasn't even risky, because it came at no price; Purdue never made them pay for it.

I think a team with good guard play will eventually get the better of St. Peter's, but that just wasn't Purdue.

Who’s responsible for substitutions and realizing when guys need to come out? If you think Painter did a good job tonight, then I’m not sure what you were watching. He had a deer in the headlights look on his face.

I just told you I love the job Holloway is doing.

I never said painter did or didn't do a good job. I think St Pete's is a playing really well on defense and offense. You are pinning the blame for this on painters coaching based on what you think his game plan was. Sometimes teams lose because another team just outplayed them.

I am basing it on what I saw on the court.
- Lack of off the ball screens
- Lack of player movement on offense
- Not running enough sets for Ivey
- Not attacking St. Peter’s when they had numbers
- Starting the game slowly and giving St. Peter’s confidence

Let’s be clear. Purdue is far more talented than St. Peter’s.

They really are not better than St. Peter's. Bigger, sure but not better.

St. Peter's won after getting a numbers poor calls against them and needing to sit key players.

LOL - okay. Do you think they were more talented than Kentucky as well?

Ivey is going to be one of the first 5 players drafted and was without question the most talented player. Edey and Williams are also projected to get drafted in the 2nd round.

Who is getting drafted from St. Peter’s?

If this was a 3 on 3 tournament, you would have a point.

Did St. Peter’s hold Ivey to 4 of 12 for 9 points with 6 turnovers?

Forget the St Pete’s coach, we need players like Caleb Love. He may single-handedly be carrying UNC to the E8.

What does a 1 game snippet have to do with Purdue having more overall talent?

We beat UNC for crying out loud, but that night we looked better.

You brought the guy up. The game is played on both ends of the court. On the defensive end, St. Peter's was the more talented team. Purdue (Ivey) looked completely overwhelmed at times.

A lot of the so-called studs in the B1G looked very pedestrian in the tournament.

I was rooting for St. Peter’s and I’m happy they won, but you have no clue what you are talking about in regards to basketball. Jaden Ivey is going to be a Top 5 pick in the NBA and not 1 player on the St. Peter’s roster will get a sniff. But you are right. You know more than everyone else associated with the NBA. You are a f’in basketball savant.
