If he can catch this offense could be our best in years! I really think he is the wild card assuming everyone else is healthy!

Nope, we are the only school with this..I wonder if any other D1 school has a blazing speedster at WR that will light it up "if he can catch..."
Well at least you won't be disappointed. I am not going to say I 'expect' him to perform but I'll say I wont be surprised if he has a few good catches for us this year..-My expectations for Weah are next to zero. .
-My expectations for Weah are next to zero. He couldnt catch in high school......
-38 receptions for 8 TD's. Exactly my point. Find me a player that dominates. This guy is and has been all hype, ala Penn State material. He's all fluff. This is the problem with Penn State recruiting. They see a player that is a 4 star, offered by no one, put up zero stats and proves he cant dominate, then celebrates as future big ten champion, only to fail.
I guess that you need to be reminded that when Jester Weah verballed to Pitt, there weren't too many 5-star WR's begging for a Pitt offer.-38 receptions for 8 TD's. Exactly my point. Teams that are in the position that Pitt was a few years ago (i.e. "desperate") have to take the chance that an athletically gifted kid such as Jester Weah will pan-out on a football field.
And he still might.
3 years of college football without a reception in a live game, while playing in a thin position group. If he can catch this offense could be our best in years! I really think he is the wild card assuming everyone else is healthy!

I am worried about PSU WR Godwin, he has speed and agility to jump and make catches.I wonder if any other D1 school has a blazing speedster at WR that will light it up "if he can catch..."
Weah was named first team in the depth chart yesterday so the coaches must feel his hands are adequate. My point is that with our OL and running game if we find a way to go deep enough to keep teams from loading the box we have a tough offense to play against. Weah has good speed and if his hands are okay he could be that guy for us!
I think the Wideouts will just be fine along with TE Orndoff, Running Backs full of Fresh Legs, and Offensive Line that can control the Line of Scrimmage against all Teams including Clemson.Weah was named first team in the depth chart yesterday so the coaches must feel his hands are adequate. Hope he spends some time talking to Martavis Bryant and Sammie Coates the next few weeks? Or Steeler's WR Coach Richard Mann from Aliquippa!I am sure you are correct. Weah's job will not be catching balls in traffic or draped with a defender. It will be to stretch the defense with his tremendous speed running deep patterns. All he needs to be able to do is make that wide open deep catch often enough that he presents a threat that prevents defenses from risking bringing all the DB's up tight to stop the run.
This. This. This. THIS!!!3 years of college football without a reception in a live game, while playing in a thin position group.
Don't hold your breath. There's a reason this guy had exactly one P5 offer out of HS despite being an athletic freak.
That's OBVIOUSLY a different Jester Weah because it's been common knowledge on this board that our Jester Weah could never catch a football.
Really? This is the topic you are going to go all homer on? Because of a highlight film from high school where he was a pretty average player against crap competion? That's OBVIOUSLY a different Jester Weah because it's been common knowledge on this board that our Jester Weah could never catch a football.
I've posted this before, but I'd settle for the guy being a one-trick pony: with his speed, send him on a deep fly- or post- pattern every play. If his one trick produces touchdowns, who'd complain?Really? This is the topic you are going to go all homer on? Because of a highlight film from high school where he was a pretty average player against crap competion?
Not going all homer. Just pointing out that he hasn't had his chance yet so I will not pass judgement yet. And players do improve.Really? This is the topic you are going to go all homer on? Because of a highlight film from high school where he was a pretty average player against crap competion?
He hasn't had his chance yet? We have been WR desperate his entire time on campus. Not going all homer. Just pointing out that he hasn't had his chance yet so I will not pass judgement yet. And players do improve.
Yeah, those H.S. highlight films say it all about college players. The rest of the P5 programs must not have seen that one or they would've been all over him. That's OBVIOUSLY a different Jester Weah because it's been common knowledge on this board that our Jester Weah could never catch a football.
He hasn't had his chance in 3 seasons at Pitt? With the #2 WR spot up for grabs every one of those seasons? C'mon now.Not going all homer. Just pointing out that he hasn't had his chance yet so I will not pass judgement yet. And players do improve.
Actually, this is year 4 in the program--he redshirted as a freshman. He has had every opportunity to show something. I know the coaches really want him to be the guy because of his size and athleticism, so I expect he will get plenty of reps in the first couple of games. we'll see what he does with them.were the only p5 school having this much discussion about a receiver in year 3 that has not caught one single ball.
then we have posters talking about how important he is to the season and says something along the lines of.....if he can catch the ball. Listen to yourself people.
Offer sheets matter.
Huh? But this kid was passed over by everyone. He wasn't a playmaker. He was fast. That was it. He couldn't even dominate his crap competition. This is a fantastic example of the people "moaning" about not getting coveted playmakers. We settled on this project kid because he could run fast and hoped he could figure everything else out. This thread is exactly why I go crazy when I see some of you guys moan about recruits that aren't "playmakers" or "aren't highly rated". If you're recruiting a WR, make sure he can catch a football. First. Then you put the kid in situations where he can succeed.
Read a lot of scouting reports for college and the NFL that talk about speed and route running and a lot of other "skills" that effectively mean nothing if the guy cannot catch a football.
You guys win.No one ever "gets it" after he's been there 3 years. Seriously, since he is apparently running with the first unit now can we at least wait till he fails to totally write him off? That's all I am saying. Some of you guys seem to be rooting against him just to say "I told you so".He hasn't had his chance in 3 seasons at Pitt? With the #2 WR spot up for grabs every one of those seasons? C'mon now.
