I've heard conflicting reports about Rashad Weaver. An out of town reporter Tweeted last night and said that he signed with an agent thus would mean his time at Pitt is done. I think Rashad himself tweeted something then deleted it questioning the report. But for now he's still listed on Pitt's active roster, when Twyman and Ford 'opted-out' they were removed pretty quickly. I also heard he's still in Pittsburgh/Southside and hasn't left town and started his training for the NFL yet. So we'll see. I guess my point is, last night's report doesn't confirm anything just yet.
Having said that, I think Chris and I have both sort of dropped tea leaves for weeks now that some guys could opt-out for this last game, so last night's development shouldn't have been too big of a surprise if it is indeed true.
With this last game being delayed, the semester being over, Pitt being out of ACC contention, COVID considerations, and NFL futures on the line, it would be kind of hard to blame a guy like Weaver, especially after missing all of last season with an injury. Rashad has been a pretty great representative for Pitt and has been a really good player his whole career. You've never heard of any issues with him in his five years here.
