Wow... this kinda came out of nowhere. HUGE get, offers from Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Tennessee, and many others.
Well, we didn't get the local 4 star OL, (Lugg), but it looks like we got an even better one (Drake).
It's amazing that the kids outside of the area see the benefit of going to Pitt whereas most of the locals don't...

-How good are they and do we really want them? Central has a bunch of kids going to Penn State and Notre Dame and they just got annilhated in the state finals. None of them are big time athletes. This new ol we got has a loaded offer sheet. Keep going after speed and athleticism in Florida.
I've seen varying reports on his stars but they all have said he is a big boy. 6'6 with room to grow some muscle on his frame. Being a mid year enrolled is huge also for the linemen I feel also. Sooner the strength staff gets to him the better!
Yeah, clearly they must suck. I mean they are only the second or third best team in the biggest classification in the state. Bunch of pikers.
Offer sheet much more indicative of his talent than the star rating. Alabama doesn't offer 3 star talent.

Funny how people talk about how PSU "rationalizes" losing recruits but we have a lot of that going on among our own fan base.

Oh don't get me wrong. I couldn't care less where the players come from if they're talented. It would be nice to land the top local talent for a number of reasons. But it's the sour grapes stuff that kills me. If some of these kids committed to Pitt the same ones that are dismissing them would probably be heading the line saying how great they are (and 2 specifically who I won't name but should be obvious).
Well, probably human nature. I will do it to. Like the dude that goes up to the hot chick at the bar and ask to buy her a drink and she says no, goes back to his buds and says 'oh she was a lesbian'.
Good call steel ! Those Central kids looked like turds when they were put up against other division 1 kids that St. Joe's Prep had in the state finals. Thorpe particularly looked sloppy and slow to me. Let them enjoy him in state college. He will be another 4 star flop like the Sterling Jenkins kid they got 3 years ago from Baldwin that hasn't seen the field and probably never will.
I will take all the three star kids from Florida that the staff can get, especially when they have an offer sheet like he had.
