Well, one more win and we will have surpassed last year's total.

That is a good thing!

Today's opponent was no doubt the weakest on our schedule. I was unable to watch--too many pre-Christmas honey-dos; but--plan to catch the rerun later tonight.

Hopefully we get to 10-3 before ACC play--as ACC wins will be few and far between, I expect. I thought maybe 6 was possible but now I am back to thinking 2-4 after the Niagara and West Virginia losses.

Yes, we should get to 10-3, but Colgate will give us a game...they're decent
this year. As far as the "6 possible" in the ACC....well, that may have been
after Iowa, and how everyone thought we were better than expected. Iowa
has now lost a few Big 10 games and they're not as highly ranked. IMO we
were an unknown back then. Coaches now have a full scouting report
on us. I agree with your new assessment. I also expect two in ACC,
hopefully four. We get to 15 wins on the season, and IMO it would be an
over achievement.

We should surpass last years record simply because we have players who actually work hard and try hard on both ends. I’m ok with taking lumps, these kids want to play and not just chuck crap up and not even put in an effort.

Well said and we have a coach that is a coach.

Don't underestimate this team. The defense is so much better than last year. If the young kids cut down on the turnovers, and Kene, Terrell, and Diese along with JWF and Malik battle hard enough to keep us competitive on the boards then 6 games is posible. There is enough offense here as long as we don't give the other team alot more possessions because we can't rebound the basketball.

I will continue to believe that 2 - 4 wins in the ACC is a realistic expectation for this year. The big difference we'll see will be in the energy and effort this team shows and that will translate into closer and more competitive games, even when we lose.

If we win 13 total games, that will be an overachievement and huge improvement over the last 2 years.

You are assuming Pitt stays satiric and doesn’t improve. I think the Bigs are gradually gettting better every game and every game that trey, Tomey and play they will improve. Also I don’t think or at least I hope we’ve seen the best of Frame

No team stays static. At the very least i feel good that this team will improve due to the staff

Contrary to what you'e stating, I'm assuming that Pitt will NOT stay "static," and
in fact WILL improve. The reality is, so will those other ACC teams we have
to go against...they also will improve. Oh, maybe you're assuming those teams
will remain "static," and we'll be the only ones who improve.
As far as Frame.....he looked great against the worst team I've ever seen. Did you
forget his last performance a week ago against a real team? He basically
disappeared against a not that great WVU team. But yes, he IS improving too.
Anyone reading my posts knows that I've been praising Capel and what this
staff is doing. I really like our three frosh, and yes they will continue to
improve and not remain "static." I've been praising Cuka since the first game
this year. Brown?...Sorry, I'm not convinced yet. He looked better yesterday...
again vs a horrible team with no height.
You totally misread my post. 15 wins?...a major over achievement if we
get there.

You and I totally agree. I gave us 15 wins for an over achievement, so we're
obviously on the same page. Given our youth, inexperience, and lack of a
legitimate Big, this team is doing great IMO. The "energy and effort" you
mentioned is a true reflection on them as players and Capel and his staff.

We should be able to brush Colgate aside fairly easily.

Well, maybe.

Sagarin's computer only predicts a 6 point with our 3 point Home Court Advantage counted.
So, it could easily be a nail biter and there is a potential we could lose.

Colgate appears to be better than Duquesne but not quite as good as St. Louis. Also, they are rated 7 points better than the Niagara team we managed to lose to.

Bottom line--It seems foolish to expect an easy game.

"Fairly easily?" We'll see. They lost by 18 at Syracuse. Lost by only 11 at
Penn St. Lost at South Florida by 10.
They're 8-4 and have experience and height. They're gonna be tough to handle
inside, since that's their strength. We should have an advantage at guard, and
with our defensive intensity.
I said the same thing on here about Niagara. Now saying the same about Colgate.
I'm not saying they'll beat us, but am saying it's not gonna be easy.

Wasnt accusing you of being negative. My only point is that if frame and Kene and brown improve the offense will change a bit and it wont be as one dimensional and easy to guard. I also expect the three frosh to play more under control as time goes on which change the offense. In other words yes teams do have a scouting report on the team as it exists now but that wont necessarily be applicable as the team changes.

Also IMO as long as they continue to show improvement and win several games in the ACC everything on top of that is gravy. I dont think anyone anticipated such the night and day change we have seen in this program from last year to this year. Im pleased as punch and nothing short of some epic collapse in effort would make this season anything but a pleasant surprise.

We'll brush them aside easily in the first half, then rinse and repeat in the second half.

Sorry if this made you bristle.

yUP. As long as they dont get completely embarrassed and throw in the towel in any game this season will be deemed as a huge step forward.

LOL. Pretty creative, I must admit. You ought to be on a literary message
board as opposed to this place.
Oh wait....Pitt has a very highly rated dental school. Maybe you're a
grad from there??....LOL

I agree totally..
Brown is the one who really needs to improve, but since it's his "motor"
as opposed to his skill set, I'm not sure it can happen unless a psychologist gets
a hold of him.
As far as Kene.....He's improved so much, I'm not sure if he can get any better.
He's giving 110% now in effort and energy. He's a forward playing Center.

I have found myself looking forward to each game this year to see how this team improves. To date , a couple of disappointing losses for sure, but watching Capel and this team gives me hope.
