to make some fairly credible judgments of this team. They are, indeed, inconsistent and mostly poor on defense, they are soft, they rarely get an easy bucket or a second shot, they are terrible at offensive rebounding, the guards are inconsistent in every aspect of their game and crack when pressured, and most alarmingly, they don't seem to respond to the coach as evidenced by playing some of their worst ball at home in the biggest games. On this last point, I'm not sure if that's an indictment of the coach or the team. With the upcoming schedule and this team's clear lack of toughness, a free fall decline isn't out of thee question. Even if we somehow eke into the tournament, my reaction is: so what! this team's going nowhere. As far as I'm concerned the off-season rebuild has been a failure.

Today's game and the way Pitt played may be one of the most disappointing games the last 10 years. Just terrible....

I fear a repeat of last year's finish---just throwing in the towel

I can't even root for some of these guys , they just lack effort and they fold when things get a little tough , Artis gives up way more points then he scores , Young is easily rattled when things aren't going his way , Robinson is the worst point we've had in awhile , what a waste of 4 years , I miss Woodall when watching this guy run the point ..

Everyone clamored for a team who could score points and get past the sweet 16. I long for the day we return to that style. A style where we weren't always the most talented, but we ALWAYS out worked the other team and were NEVER pushed around and embarrassed.

Sorry, John, but I've got no time for the assertion that what the fans now have is what they asked or clamored for. There are plenty of tough AND skilled BB players out there. All Dixon did was trade down: physical and moderately talented players for soft and moderately talented players. 80% of the players on this team still alack some of the fundamental skills you want in players at their positions. You're not going to win many games when that's the case. And on top of that, being tough/playing hard and being talented at the same time aren't mutually exclusive skill sets. All anyone clamored for were better BB players in the total sense.

I don't think anyone thought that our only two choices were: Great defensive players with limited offensive skills OR offensive-MINDED players, with NO defensive skills or intentions.

In my mind, all of the best Pitt teams from the first decade in the 2000's ever truly missed was an above-average SG.
