No.
It really boils down to this question as to whether you think Dixon is the right coach for this program? IMO, you are going to see about the same thing from here on out.
1) Were you happy with the recruiting?
2) Were you happy with player development?
3) Were you happy with the team chemistry?
4) Were you happy with how the players were being used in the game? Lineups, Sub Patterns, etc..
5) Did the team improve and play well in March?
1) You know what, results dictate whether we all should be happy with recruiting. Results. I am no longer getting hung up on 5 star, Parade AA's, I want players who come in here, and want to get better and want to win. My biggest recruiting gripe is we have accumulated too many of the same players who want to play the same roles. Not sure why Jamie has done this?
2) No. Biggest dropoff for Jamie's tenure in my opinion. We are no longer taking raw clay like a Gary McGhee or Antonio Graves and developing them into real contributors at this level, or decent players like Sam Young, Aaron Gray, Carl Krauser, Brad Wanamaker all who improved into All Conference type of players. Now, JRob as a FR was the same player as a SR. Mike Young and Jamel Artis are the same players as they were as FR.
3) I think 1 & 2 lead to a resounding NO. Look at the loose balls we were outworked for against Wisky. We had no guys who would kill to win.
4) Again, one of the big problems this team is you have a host of players who really want to be 2/3's. No. The misuse of Luther in the Wisky game was criminal. But Jamie was trying to find some guys playing a specific role. He waited all year, the last game to do this.
5) No. Obviously. It is amazing the horrific defense we showed all year, but we also saw a "magic number" meaning this team has to score 70 points to win. Again, Jamie, "jamied it up" over the past week and obviously emphasized defense to a fault and we just weren't ourselves, weren't natural. Over coaching. Jamie loves to do this in One and Done tourneys.
