What are the expectations for the program now?

Based on who Capel has lost to before, nobody on this schedule is a patsy.
Actually they are patsies. It
doesn't matter that Capel
either beat them or lost to
them....they're still patsies.
And they'll still be patsies
regardless if Capel beats
them or loses to them this
coming season.

Pitt will surely to lose to at least 1 cupcake. Basically every non-NCAAT team loses at least one of those now so its not just Capel.

Im going to say the same thing I said months ago in that I expect major breakouts from Femi and Big John this year and I expect both of them to be two of the top breakout players in the entire ACC conference this year. With a legit point guard and legit center, those are the 2 big building blocks of the future that need to breakout this year for future success. I also expect Judah Mintz to start from day 1 next year and I think he is going to make a substantial impact immediately on offense and on defense from day 1. He is still substantially underrated nationally.

I also maintain I think this current team will exceed preseason expectations.

i like your posts and information.

I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about this and I just don’t see it.

i think the expectations for Femi are unrealistic. John, at least to this point, cannot be reasonably counted on.

the type of game we would need to be even competitive is defense and rebounding. Capel is not particularly adept at coaching that. Plus , it’s now a trend that his teams fold as the season goes on.

his only chance to salvage his last opportunity is to hold onto Mintz and pair him with some legit players (which now, seems unlikely).

that’s just my opinion and I hope I’m wrong but I do not feel good about this season.

I would just like to see team basketball this year. There is enough talent here to be reasonably competitive in the acc. Give me 16-19 wins and no transfers and one more excellent recruit to team up with Mintz and I would be pretty happy with Capel and staff.
Does this seem impossible to others? I really don't think it is any worse than 50/50. Weak conference plus team basketball equals better results. Capel will not settle for anything less than team ball this season. I am thinking 16 wins minimum! We shall see..........

The league is so bad, that it really wouldn't take a miracle to finish 6th, 7th, 8th, etc. Not saying we will do it but good coaching + breakouts by Femi and Hugley with a good supporting cast and its possible. Out of 20 games, there are maybe only 1-2 guaranteed losses simply because the league sucks.

It makes me laugh reading a lot of these posts , has JC really underperformed the talent on his team in his stent here at Pitt ?

Least we forget he came here with nothing to a university that doesn’t have an active booster group to go out and buy talent .

Why would any high profile recruit choose Pitt , a bottom dweller in the ACC , over the numerous high profile programs vying for their services ?

Now that he’s been here awhile and establishing relationships he’s landed his best recruit so far , add one more quality recruit and combining them with the other young talent here like Femi and Hugley Pitt will be fine .

Transfers and disgruntled players are the sign of times and no programs are immune from this .

If you really want Pitt bb to be successful in the next few yrs you need to be rooting for JC .

Laugh all you want, but if we are in the same position a year from now, pull the plug. Please.
