Where do you find it? Is it a joke or for real?

This has been discussed. In the immediate Pittsburgh area, ThisTV is a sister station to WTAE and that is the station that carries the game. In the Johnstown -Altoona area Comcast carries a ThisTV station that is affiliated with a different station and This TV in that area doesn't carry it. bullshit, I know.

So where you live and which ThisTV your particular Comcast carries is the determining factor.

Acc basketball is horseshit.

I don't think I have 791 on direct tv. Big east like every game was on tv.

If you don't have the Sports Pack maybe those channels don't show up in your guide--but believe I'll be watching the game on 791 in a short time. I've watched MANY Pitt games this year on those College Extra sports channels on DirecTV, they start at 788 and there are about 7 or 8 of them I think.

Oh, 791 shows that it is showing the Pitt game. I just have no idea if that channel will actual come in when I turn it on in 8 minutes.

That's what I thought, but my 'guide' for 188 at 8 PM says 'How to lose Friends and alienate people' is on. What goes? I can't believe comcast would not televise the game if they carry ThisTV.
That's the same thing. If Jamie gets blown out, he won't have many friends left.

791 on DirecTV is working. The ESPN Extra channels are great. Haven't missed any ACC game all year.

You always get this confused. The game wasn't on the "ThisTV network". The game was syndicated. In Pittsburgh the channel that happened to buy the syndication rights was WTAE, and they moved the game to their "ThisTV" sub-channel. In other markets other stations bought the game (or actually, a package of games that included this one). But the idea that because a ThisTV affiliate in Pittsburgh bought the game that that means that ALL ThisTV channels everywhere bought the game is just simply wrong.

No. I understand exactly what is heppening. My point is my Comcast doesn't carry the WTAE ThisTV. They carry a ThisTV affiliated with a station in central Pa., thus the game isn't on the ThisTV that I get on my cable. Read my post again. I am not confused, just pissed.

But ThisTV doesn't have anything to do with it. Your cable system doesn't carry the WTAE sub-channels. It doesn't make any difference if it was a ThisTV channel or some other channel. You seem fixated on the ThisTV part of it, when the ThisTV part of it is completely immaterial.

You seem fixated on telling me I don't understand this. I do understand this. WTAE picks up the game and puts it on their sister station. My Comcast doesn't carry the WTAE sister station. That is why I don't get these games. I GET THAT. I GET THAT. I GET THAT. What pisses me off is that they pick up the game and put it on a station not a lot of cable companies in western Pa. carry.

I still dont understand how Comcast doesn't carry WQMY, a FREE over-the-air station.

It was on Comcast channel 188 (ThisTV) where I am. The video quality was disappointing. It looked like they captured the ESPN3 streaming feed and rebroadcast it.

Comcast doesnt carry the thisTV HD station so what you saw is the condensing of an HD broadcast to fit a 4:3 screen.

OK, so you understand all this, and yet you continue to blame everyone else for a problem of your own making. It is not Pitt's fault that you don't get the channel that the game was on. It's not the ACC's fault that you don't get the channel that the game was on. In fact, Pitt and the ACC have made the game available to people in exactly the situation that you are in. And yet you still complain. It's as if you feel that you have some sort of divine right to have all the games broadcast on whatever channel you choose. But yeah, you understand.

OK, last post on this. I am simply frustrated that the games is shown to a limited audience. There are many Pitt fans that don't live right in Pittsburgh. So these weekday games that WTAE buys up will continue to be shown to a limited audience and I will continue to be frustrated.

And I guess you will continue to be fixated on what frustrates me. Thanks for caring.

I think the source of most frustration is the Raycom package. Since they are in OTA stations, its hit or miss whether the local CW or whatever channel will buy it.

The FSS package, we dont hear complaints about because those games find themselves on RSNs.

Its cool that Raycom puts the games on "free TV" but most of the time, they are on obscure channels and nobody has digital antennas to watch for free.

I got it on our local channel 8 which frequently carries ACC games--it was fine until midway through the 2nd half when the picture started to fragment and start-stop, then finally the screen turned blue and said the signal was lost---never had that happen---so fortunately or unfortunately, I missed the last 7-7 minutes---the announcer was an ACC guy, does a lot of the football games, and the color guy was an ex-ACC player who just couldn't shut up

Not really intending to get involved in your personal pissing match...but to a point I have made several times this season, the ACC basketball television package is far inferior to what the Big East used to have. I have DirecTv, subscribe to both the SportsPack, as well as FullCourt offerings. Where and whether the Pitt game will be carried on the DirecTv line up, whether it will be blacked out and finding it are always a challenge. And yes, there have been several ACC games where Pitt was playing which were not available to me. A far inferior basketball package than what fans used to have. Certainly hope it improves over time. Hail to Pitt!

I live out of state and haven't missed a single Pitt game. In fact, the market that I live in is not in the ACC footprint and there is an independent station that carries the Raycom games on Saturdays and Wednesday nights. Even if they didn't, I'd still be able to get the games on DirecTV thanks to the ESPN Extra Channels and the Sports Pack. And if that didn't work, I have Apple TV with WatchESPN and the ACC apps. And if that didn't work, I have my iPad.

I do agree it sucks that you have to be creative in watching the games, but the games are available in multiple, multiple ways folks.

It was available to a national audience , for those who elected to use ESPN3.

Sorry, but this is simply false in Eastern PA with Verizon. Sometimes the only option is purchasing the game via ESPN Fullcourt/Gameplan because it is otherwise blacked out via ESPN3. Maybe this is because the game is randomly being broadcast on some weirdo non-HD channel, but if it is, it never shows up via the Verizon search function.
