My oldest daughter is a sophmore and is beginning the recruiting process for field hockey. She gets letters from coaches that say everything but the magic words. Some of the things you will hear. You are exactly the kind of player we want in our program. You have the exact speed athleticism that we want on our team. We would love to have you at our school and you are a perfect fit for our program. Etc etc I had to sit her down and explain that regardless of how great they tell you that you are. And how much they tell you they want you. Until you get an official written offer that you cannot get yet you have nothing. The process is very confusing and it is easy to see how kids and even high school coaches and parents could get this messed up.
