What every happened to Captain SidneyReilly and PittLaw?

Captain died of Covid early on in the pandemic I thought. He was an older fellow and always bragged about going out every day in Spring 2020 and was never heard from again.
He said he was leaving the board months before he did and it was before covid

That is absolutely not true. He was a very early Covid denier and posted constantly about these old-timer get together he was going to. Its certainly possible he didn't die of Covid but the last we heard from him was in Spring 2020 around the time Eastern PA was getting crushed and that's where he lived.

I think you’re getting Reilly confused with someone else. I believe I know who you’re talking about - real abrasive fella - somewhere in central PA. Good chance his handle will pop into my head but drawing a blank at the moment.

BuffettParrothead was his name.

Reilly was harmless. Overused/abused the exclamation point but maybe that was his “thing”.

It was Buffett who was in the locket room talking about going to crowded events right in the throws of COVID. Seemed nice.

Yep. He was a really big Buffett fan. He PM’d me once to ask if I knew him. In fact, I did. Jimmy’s business manager and partner in Margaritaville was my best friend and he referred Jimmy to me for his divorce. In point of fact, Jimmy and his wife did a property settlement but never got divorced. At least not then.

Anyway, he said he was a Parrotthead who went to a lot of Buffett concerts and we agreed to meet at one in Vegas when Jimmy was playing the MGM Grand. But, the concerts were cancelled by Covid and we never did meet. I never heard from him again.

As an aside, I went to a lot of Buffett concerts and every Parrotthead I met was a good person. As was Jimmy.

Just curious, if you were gonna meet up I'm assuming you had a personal contact to reach him? If so have you tried to see how he's doing?

BuffetParrotHead had changed handles to Pitt family or something like that. He kept saying he was going to the casino and on cruises in the early days of Covid. I figured it got him when he disappeared.

Yea. This is correct. Reilly also stopped posting in Spring/Summer 2020 but didnt make any mention of purposely going to crowded events like Buffet. I have no idea if Buffet actually died but it may not be a coinincidence that he died during a time when Eastern PA was experiencing mass death. I think you are correct in that he was from Central PA but he bragged about going to events near Philly during that time. He could have just been yanking our chains but it was almost if he was trying to get it.

Captian Sydney Reilly left in 2018 and signed off when he left and gave fair warning. He was not around during covid. There was a second sydney reilly of whom you speak. But the original one who posted constantly about the sandusky trial was gone in 2018. I know this detail intimately. Argue til your blue in the face but you are dead wrong. Also IF he was still around for covid he WOULD NOT have been a covid denier on this board or any other area of his life.
Pittlaw no clue on him. But dont get your reillys mixed up.

Someone once called DMB the Jimmy Buffet for Gen X and Elder Millennials and I can't tell if I'm offended or impressed that it's spot on.

Whatever. They put on a great show.

Maybe it's just me but I prefer the Bangles.

I liked but really didn’t love Jimmy’s music. But, I went to quite a few of his shows in Vegas and elsewhere because another good friend, Howard Rose, was his booking agent and if the shows were in a good location and over the weekend, the two Howard’s, their spouses and Masha and I (or in the pre-Masha days, a date) would go for the weekend and it was always great fun. Lots of celebrities do “meet and greets” after shows. Many of them are perfunctory, but Jimmy really enjoyed it. (Billy Joel abhors them. When he did his tour with Elton John, Elton would do meet and greets, which he enjoyed and Billy would jump in a limo and go straight back to the hotel.)

Other than time with Jimmy, I just really enjoyed meeting and spending time with Parrotheads. Most of them are a lot of fun to talk to and be around. Many of them said they had been to more than a hundred of his concerts.

Jimmy died of Merkel cell carcinoma, the same type of cancer I had, but which as of Tuesday I received the oncologist’s report that “there is no evidence of any cancer remaining in your body.” I was very lucky and caught it early. I believe Jimmy fought it for 3 years.

while 80% on this board are still in denial of having the same diagnosis...(present company included)
I'm 45 and last year at my yearly physical i asked my Dr to give me a cognitive test as I feel my memory and attention and just being present in the moment are fading. I passed but alzheimers runs in the family so i know it's probable for the future.

You should Brag about it !
I’ve heard it’s an incredibly difficult test !

I'm 60 next month and my doctor told me to schedule the test before my next appointment. I forgot.... I've always heard it skips a generation. My grandmother had it bad and my mother was sharp as a tack at 98...uh, oh..

No
That was another guy who was a wrestler and played FB.
Can’t recall his name.
Was it Ghost 54 or something like that? I know it was his jersey number when he played at PITT and he would occasionally post the article of when he scored a TD against Temple.

Glad to hear you caught it early.

Surprised to hear that Elton John enjoyed meet & greets. One of my childhood friends had an aunt and uncle that lived in the same condo building as EJ in Buckhead. I think he said that Elton owned combined units on the top two floors. Anyway, Elton had lived there almost 20 years and they had never once seen him.

I never met Jimmy, but I worked with Mac McAnally's daughter when I lived in Nashville. Heard a lot of great stories.
