When this sorry excuse for a head coach elected

Not really second guessing, had posted it even before the play call. Analytics are on my side, but will say Miami’s kicking game a mitigating factor.

Pretty sure the mathematics agree with me.

I wasn’t even saying that the decision was obvious, more stating that the posters claiming kicking the FG was a no brainer were wrong.

Not arguing against your post, just making a counter point. I would kick that every time against in that game situation. The weird thing is the way the Miami offense and Pitt defense were playing is being used on both sides of the argument.

My real point is that there should be a valid argument about it, I can see it from both sides.

Hell this is Pitt, if we get a TD there maybe we lose in OT. Too many close games in a row to win them all.

Find me a similar scenario, in the 4th quarter with the team behind, where a coach went for the touchdown instead of the go ahead chip shot field goal

there is none. These people have no football sense at all. It is franklin crazy to go for it there. Especially with our defense (which by the way stopped them the next drive thus making this the right decision)

Totally disagree, you see it much more often the way football is played these days. Not going to go scrounging through box scores, but will definitely post it next time it happens.

More and more coaches are playing to win, playing it safe and losing is getting coaches fired.

Many coaches are relying more and more on analytics, which says the proper move there was to go for it.

And if they didn't get it and Miami moves the ball or hits a big play they might never have another opportunity to take the lead. Then, the same people lambasting the decision would say he's an idiot for not kicking the field goal.

Easy to second guess and assume they would get a stop and good field position back. Heck, the stupid play call on 3rd and 5 with 4 minutes left used the same type of rationalization.

I had no problem whatsoever with the FG. The run on 3rd and 5 into a stacked box was way too conservative.
I don’t Complain about aggessive decisions
Also why I’m not complaining about blitzing and failing on the td

ive only seen it once and it was FSU and Clemson and FSU’s kicker was hurt years ago. I’ve never seen it in all my football watching. I would have destroyed Narduzzi for being so stupid for going for it with our horrible offense there. We can’t run, we have an inaccurate qb and small receivers, and TEs that can’t catch. I mean please, what are you even talking about

well not sure what analytics you are talking about but Pitts changes went from 54.2 chance of winning to 70 percent after the decision

If that’s one of those goofy ESPN win probability things it’s best to ignore it. When it comes to gambling they have no clue what they’re doing, we would all be rich if we could bet into their numbers.

I’m talking about the link poster Badby posted earlier, which has much more basis in reality than any ESPN garbage.

you’re wasting your breath. No matter how many solid counter points you make some will simply ignore them.

Surprise !!! Kenny Pickett is still garbage !!! The playcalling when up 12-10 was because a coordinator and coach don't trust the qb. Garbage!! Please get a grad transfer !!

I'm fine with it. What I'm angry about is the next offensive series we tried to run it up the gut 3 plays in a row when it has not worked all year.

Yup.... the turnovers, the penalties, the dropped passes and that offensive series is why we lost the game. We are not that good where we can overcome all that and still win the game.

Thank you. You said this a whole lot nicer than I would have, so kudos to you.

It’s tiring. Same old posters..same stupid message..always show up at the low points. Nothing positive to say when things are done well. Disappear into the woodwork whenever Pitt wins. PATHETIC
So we praise PN for winning games he should win and excusing him when he loses games to inferior teams? Got it

to kick his pathetic FG on 4th and goal from the 1 inch line to take a miserable 2 point lead with 8 minutes left in the 4th, he deserved to lose this game— and he got what he deserved.

the 3rd and goal play call with 11 defenders stacked between the tackles was almost as egregious.

how anyone on this board can continue to have faith in this head coach is beyond my comprehension. This is year 5 and he coaches like a confused rookie with no confidence in himself or his team. Playing to take a 2 point lead and leave the last 8 minutes of the game to your defense is begging to lose.

On top of that this might very well be the worst performing and least productive red zone offense in the country. Knowing that you damn well better go for the TD when you’re less than a yard out in the 4th quarter.

Another hater heard from. Kicking the FG was the right decision. The players blew this game, not the coaches
