Listening to Ivan Maisel's podcast, and he talked about Vick going to VT. Vick considered Syracuse and almost went there to succeed McNabb. Obviously, Vick catapulted VT into national prominence, a national title game, and the ACC. It's easy to see Syracuse doing just that if it would've landed Vick.
That got me thinking who is the one recruit who would've changed Pitt's fortunes that much. We talk a lot about busts, but who is a guy that got away that would've changed the entire trajectory of the program?
On a slightly different topic, a publication did a what if Hugh Green won the Heisman a few years ago that ended with Pitt keeping Sherril, winning national titles in the 80s, and remaining a college football power. I can't find it now, but I think playing what if in this stuff is fun...and incredibly sad as a Pitt fan.
