We are so bad. I feel like I've seen at least 3 good passes to our big men fumbled away instead of going in the basket in just the last 5 minutes. Lowe inexplicably posting up on the block only to be blocked. Just hard to watch.

No clue. I forgot we are playing. The season was an immense disappointment. At least I knew those stallings teams had no prayer, this one did me the disservice of getting my hopes up.

At a time when teams not in the Big Ten or SEC are scrambling for a seat at the new college sports landscape, our 2 major teams tanked in the second half of the season.
We are not the least bit attractive to any other conference. The timing could not be worse.

I bet against Pitt for race to 10 points - easiest money bet around

Also took NCSU moneyline

True, but our prior AD at least had the foresight to lock up our not-in-demand head coaches for life.

I just had the Xavier game on for a few minutes and this overweight slug just missed a bunny inside in traffic, got his own rebound then got rejected trying to do some acrobatic putback where he jumped in slow motion. I totally forgot Hugley was there now...

Seeing how bad he still is makes me slightly less agitated about Corhen, but not by much.

They actually look on each series like they’re intentionally delaying things with intent to not score because nothing I’ve seen in 5 minutes looks like it could ever work anywhere on this planet…ever possession… catch ball under hoop? Delay long enough for blocked shot… have a jumper? Wait … the defense not in position yet…

Which is weird because I can remember this same team looking very athletic in more than a few wins this season… they also played together well… looked like…. A basketball team.
As the competition got better and figured out Pitts weaknesses there are just no answers . Who on the bench do you feel is being shortchanged on PT !

With the weakness on the boards the fact that they have two 6’10 scholarship guys not getting any PT is concerning for the future .

Some say they need a new coach , I think they need to get their coach better players , which requires less cash than buying him out and paying another coach . Now if that doesn’t work ……

Capel has had ample opportunities to prove he doesn't suck. He's failed. We can splurge for new tires and tinted windows on a hooptie or we can address the real problem.

Don’t buy it

ND, Virginia, NC State, GT aren’t better than WVU or OSU…

Just not buying it.

It’s effort and it’s all over the team at this point… the entire team is collectively shooting horribly

No but to be this consistent is absolutely an unusual phenomena

You would think dumb luck would come in to play… at some point?
Yea I dont disagree. Particularly when they’re playing pretty bad teams. But as Sauce has said, you are what your record says you are regardless of reason. And actually this team may be worse the their record considering that things looked to be good early on. Whatever that was seems like a lifetime ago.

No. Choose any saying by any overachiever and you find out that “chance favors the prepared mind” Louis Pasteur. “The harder I work the luckier I get”. Gary Player.
This team is a dead man walking. The coaches must hate going to practice and to games.
Losing is infectious.

"Luck is the residue of design." One of my dad's favorite sayings. ;)

It's so obvious that this team has not been prepared to play in any games for the past 2 months. That is entirely on Capel. Even a team with marginal talent could win more than Pitt has. And these players are getting paid to win games and have failed. Capel is getting paid big bucks and is failing miserably.

So what do we have left? A game against BC? The oddsmakers will once again make Pitt a favorite incorrectly, just because it's a home game. Pitt could win that game, but not playing or coached as they have been for the past 2 months.

"They" need to get the coach better players? The "coach" needs to get better players.

In fact if we want to have a good team, if we keep the same coach we need to get about three all ACC players. That would probably be enough for him to not be able to screw it up.

Probably.
and whose fault is that?
The previous two seasons were very successful making the tournament and then getting screwed last yr . I’d take that level of performance going forward .

This years roster had holes in it and of course the HC is responsible, but the acquisition ( not recruitment ) of players is directly related to your NIL bankroll .

Since none of us know the amount of funds available my guess is that Pitt is maxed out , could they have kept this team together if Bub returned ? ( I doubt it )

Who did they try to get to come to Pitt that went elsewhere for a bigger payday ?

Going forward it will be tough for anyone coaching Bb and Fb at Pitt competing against better funded programs .

Firing coaches with millions guaranteed isn’t the answer it is a lot more expensive that somehow figuring out how to funnel those resources into the players .

This team slowly but continuously deteriorated when the other guys on the floor realized Capel was going to let Ish and Lowe play selfish 2 on 5 BB….the more selfishly they played, the worse the rest of the team around them played. And the rest is history. Capel was more of a spectator than a coach. And just because I need to say it one more time: Heather Lyke is an idiot!

The hill is much steeper for football. We are capable of getting good enough talent in hoops to make NCAAT's where, once you get in, anything can happen. We'll be lucky to make a college football playoff once a generation. But we need a hoops coach capable of more than just rolling the ball out there.

No one’s investing in the duds running the FB and BB programs….there aren’t going to be resources to funnel to players unless Pitt will be paying the freight. The major men’s programs are both floating precariously on life rafts tied to anchors provided courtesy of Heather Lyke.
