He looks far better than Fields looks.

I havent watched any steeler games, but watching this one and eek, do people really like Fields? Is Wilson still injured?

Perhaps RW and Fields were cheaper, too.

I'm not sure Bob Nutting runs his franchise that much differently than the Rooneys. It's just the NFL has a salary cap is generally setup to give a cheap owner a better shot at competing.

Because the Bears were a trainwreck before Fields, and they’re going to continue to be a trainwreck after Fields.

Trainwreck how? They had better stats than the Steelers last year

Bears defense was 12th in the NFL in total yards, the Steelers were 19th
Bears offense was #2 in rushing, Steelers offense was #29 in rushing
Bears qbs had the 14th most time in the pocket, Steelers QBs has 29th most time in the pocket before pressure

I get it, Tomlin is a much better coach, but as far as players around him, the Bears and Steelers, you could certainly argue the Bears had more last year.

Even if you say receivers were better, Johnson missed 5 of the first 7 games last year.

I think Russel Wilson was perceived as having more gas in the tank, and he was cheaper. Fields was viewed as a lottery ticket that might hit.

We know better, though. Even with the Steelers using their media cronies to lay cover.

Flacco reads the field very well and doesn’t seem to have happy feet. He’s a really nice back up who has proven he can come in and win games.

I’m guessing the Steelers didn’t want 2 35plus qbs in the roster. Also strange question as the Steelers with fields is 3-0, he has done exactly what has been asked of him and isn’t the reason the Steelers are losing right now.

He’s also not the reason they are 3-0.

Where did I say Flacco would make a difference. I said in this offense it doesn’t matter who plays qb

And I was explaining to the op why they targeting fields over Flacco and why it was a weird question right now. Not saying fields is the reason the Steelers are 3-0

The knock on Fields is that he can look like an All Pro and a third-string benchwarmer - in the same quarter. Supposedly that’s why the Bears gave-up on him; the inconsistencies were maddening for them.

Yes. Same stuff very present today. Especially on the last drive and his fumble earlier. Dropped a few other snaps. Made some fine plays too though for sure.

A shame Boyd wasn’t a Steeler. Van Jefferson provides zero as WR2.

Pretty bad the Colts were down six starters on defense and the offense was lifeless in the first quarter. The Pickens and Fields fumbles were terrible as was the botched snap at the end.

Fields was the only reason the Steelers were in that game. He did make a few brain dead plays but they get shutout without him today.
Absolutely. The defense was ass today. Sure they had a big hand in winning the 1st 3 games, but, when you spend the overwhelming majority of your cap on building an elite defense, said defense cannot get picked apart by a young qb that led the league in interceptions and an old man that can't move. Fields kept them in it, and if not for the botched snap likely gets Boswell a shot to tie it at the very least.

I get that, but why sign the guy that was 5-20 for the Bears?
There are certain franchises that have been QB killers over the last several years. The Jets, Bears, Steelers and Panthers are the top culprits. It’s why Fields stunk in Chicago, Kenny didn’t develop here, and Sam Darnold was considered a draft bust for 6 years. The franchise culture, philosophy, OC, and players all contribute to it. I said before the season that Darnold will flourish in a real offense in Minnesota. People laughed at the notion, but the dude is playing like an All-Pro just as Brock Purdy has in asan Fran.

Systems matter. And while Arthur Smith doesn’t run a sexy offense, it is a real NFL offense, and Fields is showing to be more effect than he was in Chicago.

Reminds me of the Steeler Lions tie a couple of years ago. Rudolph played on a rainy windy day with no offensive weapons. I think he had one healthy receiver and despite the weather and offense he was playing in, he performed admirably and led his team down the field for the win, only for Dionte Johnson to fumble the game away deep in Lions territory. The next day people here were still proclaiming Rudolph to not be an NFL QB. It baffles me that people on a football forum can’t recognize what is truly happening on a football field and blame the QB for everything like my wife who knows nothing about football does.

Some of these Pickett acolytes are just a bit cheesed that they had to wait until Week 4 to piss on Fields's shoes for losing a close game on the road (mostly due to failures by the top defense in the NFL) while having a far better statistical day than Kenny Pickett has had in his brief career as a starter.

And then there are those posters who can't or won't acknowledge that the Iggles 2nd string QB obviously was part of the problem.
Will the posters who think Kenny wasn’t part of the problem please identify yourselves?

Of course Kenny was part of the problem. He was a 2nd year QB with limited starts under his belt. But where most Kenny defenders differ is they understand that he wasn’t problem 1(a) or 1(b). Of course “problem” is a subjective term, considering he finished and won games in the 4th quarter, which was something we couldn’t do yesterday. The only significant problem that Kenny posed for anyone would have been fantasy team owners. He wasn’t asked to be Dan Marino. But pea brain fans expected him to be.
