I am not an an infectious disease (ID) specialist, especially not viral ID. However, I do not understand the justification for players sitting out due to contact tracing.

I do not understand why players have to sit out for contact tracing when you have rapid daily testing. Can someone explain this to me?

I understand that if a player (or person) tests positive for the corona virus that you need to test and isolate all of the people that have come in contact with that person who tested positive.

However, why do the players that have come in contact with that corona virus positive person have to sit out 14 days?

I am sure that the people who are identified in the contract tracing undergo rapid and daily testing. If these players are negative after multiple tests (e.g. 3 daily tests) why do they have to sit out for 11 more days?

After negative daily tests (e.g. 3 daily tests) these players should be able to play as they do not have the virus.

Is the 14 day sit out for people who are identified in the contract tracing due to the risk of false negative test results after acute exposures? If so, I would love to see this data. Moreover, I would love to see the data that justifies having players who are identified in the contract tracing site out 14 days.
