PSU is the one BIG team I will not root for under any circumstance.
Wow that was really cool! You just plug in any number awesome! Here's a cool fact:
Plug in ANY year between 1890 and 2014, and it is ALWAYS incorrect if one were to say Pittsburgh has "more wins since <<year x>> than Penn State."
True. As is the following statement:
Plug in any year between 1890 and 2014, and it is always incorrect if one were to say Pittsburgh has "more wins since <<year x>> than Penn State."
Well, you'll always have that trump card to play.
Penn State (a) fired individuals involved in such within 72 hours of the story breaking, (b) commissioned an independent investigation regarding how that happened, (c) implemented the recommendations of that investigation, and (d) is not and has not ever been an active plantiff in any of the various lawsuits against the NCAA.
We cannot change the past, but I am happy with my University's response to the story since it broke on 5-November-2011.
So what you are saying in a roundabout, albeit stupid, way is that Penn State has more victories than Pitt….
plug in some years in that span and include teams they played there Skippy...1936 Pitt had WVU, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Nebraska and Washington (I did not list PSU as they were sort of an 1-AA type of team then) while Penn State grappled with the likes of Muhlenberg, Villanova, Lehigh and Bucknell....Pitt has been playing big time college football since 1890 while Penn State has about sixty years under their belts....
I think you have overstayed your welcome here and it may be time for you to exit.....
Well I at least give you props for that, you're obviously one of the more rational people to visit here. My only problem now is that you just pick a random year like 1938. I could say that since 1990 neither of us have won a national championship.I have no problem with Pittsburgh claiming 9 national titles.
As a corollary to my earlier fact, it remains true that "if you plug in any year between 1938 and 2014, it is always incorrect to say Pittsburgh has "more national championships in football since <<year x>> than Penn State."
no, I grabbed a year in your span to demonstrate that PItt played major powers back in the day while Penn State did not...nothing to do with being good that year...try to keep up....and also consider yourself fortunate to be on a message board with gentlemen (and women "sorry pittgirl) who tolerate your trolling foolishness. Pretty much everyone here has been banned from BWI for much, much, much less. Why don't you start a thread over there to ascertain why this is the case.....Yes, Pittsburgh was better than Penn State in 1936. Noone doubts that, shoot, Pittsburgh won a National Championship that year.
PSU is the one BIG team I will not root for under any circumstance.
You're not lying! When people ask me where I'm from I say near Pittsburgh (I'm from the suburbs.) I will not say I'm from Pennsylvania, they truly have embarrassed the entire state and it's sickening they think people hate them because they're such a clean program. Unreal. You are not alone my friend. Most of this country is disgusted by them. OSU and Michigan hate them too. The funny thing is, PoSU fans think it is because everyone is envious of them and the hatred is out of jealousy. It is that type of thinking that truly makes them hated because everyone feels that way about them because of their scandal, not envy. They have disgraced the entire state of Pennsylvania because any time anyone talks about this state, they bring up the penn state scandal.
Anyone know the difference between Jonestown and State College?Yep exactly the thread I was talking about. It's amazing how these people's minds work over there.
Anyone know the difference between Jonestown and State College?
Me either.
Based on the top 20 teams each school has in wins against, PSU has played more games against teams that are not even in FBS (many of which that dont even field D1 programs) than Pitt.
PSU: 101 wins in 143 games (~70%)
PITT: 70 wins in 88 games (~80%)
all right (and I am embarrassed to say so as I try to keep up with all things anti-cult) someone clue me in as I have no idea what "PoSU" means?Jonestown they actually drank the koolaid, and everyone wishes PoSU fans WOULD drink it?
Probably because back in 2012 ("contextually relevant" as a snobby snooty person trying to impress someone might say) you guys were probably spewing similar accolades to the Owls after the nits had a close one with them up in Happy Valley.....No offense, but how is a 47-17 game played in 2012 contextually relevant to how good Temple is (or is not) in 2015? 3 entire classes of players have left (and arrived) in between!
Precisely... The delusionists in Happy Valley constantly have poorly constructed smoke screens that eventually they fall prey to...please note I accounted already for the three year period... Anyone want to tell me Temple was pulling in top 25 classes in those mere 3 seasons? It has everything to do with deconstructing the pervading mental illness that is Happy Valley...Probably because back in 2012 ("contextually relevant" as a snobby snooty person trying to impress someone might say) you guys were probably spewing similar accolades to the Owls after the nits had a close one with them up in Happy Valley.....
So w/power 5 conferences 2005-2015 Cuse,UVa,Bama,& ND 4 in 11 years Because last I checked UCF & Temple don't qualify as P5. Forgive me if I'm wrong but did UVa & UPS play that second game ? so seven games in eleven years and you won how many of those ?As you well know, those are all buy games. Buy games will nearly universally come from non-Power 5 conferences.
Since 2005, Penn State has played neutral site or home-and-home series with UCF, Syracuse, Virginia, Temple, Alabama and Notre Dame. In 2016-2019, we will play Pittsburgh. I do wish we had a little more geographic diversity in the OOC schedule (e.g., schedule a series which takes us out west), but overall I'm comfortable with our OOC schedule over the last decade.
Where do they empty the sewage in crappy valley when the shitter's full?
In the sewer...of course!!
Simple answers:
1. Paterno killed the series because Pitt joined the Big East instead of the eastern conference that he was trying to form -- after the Big East rejected Penn State.
Maybe Temple is about the same... But Penn State sucks ?...Well, just be patient.
If Temple sucks in 2015 (as is the hypothesis of some), we'll find out soon.
If Temple is legit in 2015 (as in the hypothesis of some), we'll find out soon.
One thing is for sure though: Temple's performance in 2012 isn't really correlated with their performance in 2015.
Well, just be patient.

And didn't JoePa have this big demands, he wanted the conference, but wanted Penn State to have a bigger cut of revenues and more home games vs. all the teams? If I remember correctly, he wanted PSU to get a double share of TV revenues?
Although I do think the Big East screwed up by not admitting Penn State when they admitted Pitt, that might have kept that conference together.
This whole thread is pretty funny. Not debating the previous records or opponents or anything else but just wanted to say that to me one of the major differences between Pitt and PSU right now is we are in a conference that wants us, likes us and welcomed us with open arms. In all the years that PSU has been in the B1G, can you really say that has EVER been the case? I mean we ALL know how the officials have it out for you every game, right? And in all these years PSU has never developed any real rival. (And no, tOSU does not consider you a rival.) Will Pitt have one in the ACC? Who knows, but we're only in year 3. PSU's in, what, like year 25? (Oh and btw, your OOC schedule is a JOKE. Iowa is a P5 team. ND is a P5 team. You're hardest game is Temple? Keep blowing smoke that when the B1G goes to 9 conference games you want to schedule a "compelling" opponent. Compelling as in......Temple?)
Here's the link to that thread. I replied to their claims in an adult way. Can't wait to see how I get crushed over there...

Of course Temple and UCF aren't Power 5 teams.
Cuse, UVa, Bama and ND are fairly equivalent to ND, Nebraska, UVa, Iowa, Miami FLA and Utah --- Power 5 teams that Pittsburgh has played home-and-home OOC in the 2005-2015 era.
Temple and UCF are fairly equivalent to Akron, Buffalo, FIU, and Ohio University --- non Power 5 teams that Pittsburgh has played home-and-home OOC in the 2005-2015 era.
Big picture: Pittsburgh's and Penn State's OOC schedules are not THAT much radically different. We'll be on each other's schedules in the 2016-2019 era, of course.
FWIW, to answer your questions:
(1) PSU was 5-4 against current P5 teams in regular-season OOC games in the 2005-2014 era.
(2) The UVa return visit to State College is still (supposedly) TBD in the future. Perhaps 2019.
But this wasn't a conversation comparing PITT's OOC and Penn States OCC. You said you were comfortable w/ PSU's OCC I'm confused because I find it difficult to feel that way w/ so few power 5 match ups. I don't want to see PITT play non power 5 games I realize they have and probably will continue to
Looking at 5-4 record I, only see 3-4 but I will admit your knowledge on Penn State exceeds mine. I will note that I see and hear living near SC many tickets available for the Buffalo's SDSU. and Kent States.
Listen it would seem we are just on two different sides of the fence Penn State says they want a national schedule but they get Idaho E.Michigan ....and others ---- you are comfortable. I would not be.
Now they can drink beer with the image of "Dear Leader" front and Centre County.Confortable in the sense that the nit wits can drive in from all over Pennsyltucky, park in some cow pasture and drink beer before going into a stadium with bench seating and playing crappy teams.
