Why not put Tyler Boyd on defense for 10 plays to play man to man?

It seemed easy for us to want to put Whitehead on offense for 10 plays but why not Boyd on Defense for 10 plays to basically be a shut down corner.

Now that could be interesting.

It would be fun to see what he could do on defense.

He looked good in high school as a DB. Though, I suppose there is nothing really to be gained by him for doing it, yet there is much to lose. If he gets tired, he might hurt his chance of bigger yardage on offense and hurt his draft stock in the process. Also, doing so would add to the number of ways that he could get injured- something he can't afford at this stage.

If he keeps dropping catchable balls, his draft stock is going to drop.

Unlike Whitehead, I don't believe that Boyd is nearly physical enough to play the CB position on defense. Additionally, in this defense, you have to possess the ability to jam the WR coming off of the line (something Maddox struggles with at times). Maybe I'm selling Boyd short as a defensive player, but I just can't see him working on that side of the ball.

If Pitt was in the situation of trying to protect a one-score lead in the final minute(s) of a game, and the other team had to drive the length of the field - and Pitt knew that they had to pass - then yeah, I'd put TB back there. Let him play CB, or even Deep Safety. And especially - if a team was desperate and had to throw a Hail Mary, I'd definitely want Boyd back there in the mix, trying to prevent that long pass.

Its much, much, much easier to go to offense to play a few snaps....expecting a guy to go to defense and play man to man is a bit much......oy
