Will people scam pre-sold parking for PSU game?

Called Alco to see what deal was for Pitt-PSU parking. I don't come on here often so if this has been posted I apologize.

Basically I have a pass for Gold1. Alco told me the lots are open for Pirates game but not pre-sold. You have to show your tickets for them to let you in (who knows if that will actually be enforced), it is $15.

The lots won't fill for Pirates game of course, maybe half at most. If you have a Pitt-PSU pre-sold pass you are not allowed in until 4PM. And Pirates fans are not required to be out of the lot until 1 hour after game ends. It starts at 1:05, maybe 3 hour game, that means not all spaces available until at least 5PM.

Won't people who want to park for Pitt game just buy a cheap pirates ticket, buy a spot in the lots for pirates game and park the car and just not move it? What are they going to do, go through with a tow truck through all that traffic to get everyone out by 1 hour after Pirates game ends?

I guess it is a cluster no matter what way you think about it. They did say if you have a pirates ticket, pay $15 for Pirates game parking and show your Pitt parking pass, you will not have to move. Has anyone run into this before for something like a steelers home night game being on same day as a pirates home day game?

I don't see them having the cajoles to tow cars out of a lot but another poster on here said this happened a few years ago and they cleared lots before letting pitt fans in. I guess we will all wait and see..

I was curious about this too. I checked with Alcoa because I didn't know if you could buy a Pirates parking pass and just stay for the whole day. They said you have to be out an hour after the game. What if there's a rain delay or extra innings? Either way that's a cluster**** with cars leaving and cars coming along with any possible towing.. If there's any delay to the game, it will be even more of a mess. If I have a pass for football game parking, I don't want to be waiting around for a spot to open up. They should really move the Pirate game to 11 am to have a little more leeway. There is the occasional 11 am mlb game and this would be the day to do it.

they already moved it to 1pm, that's as good as it gets. my beloved buccos have mailed it in for the year, a couple more weeks and there will be a sparse crowd. the florida marlins don't exactly travel well or excite the host city either.

I agree there isn't going to be a big crowd of pirates fans down there. They are encouraging people to park downtown. The main thing I was thinking is people will park for pirates game and just never move and people who have bought pre-sold parking for pitt will be SOL when it gets over-filled. Simple answer is to just not allow pirates parking on those lots and open them up to pitt pass only around noon. Since pirates didn't pre-sell passes it's not like they will be ripping anyone off.

The problem is the Pirates have a contract stating they have first rights to those lots. Alco would rather be sued by a bunch of invidules for peanuts rather than a long time loyal customer who has deep pockets. The Pirates moved this game and they want their reward for doing so. That reward is a few thousand ticket sold that they normally would not sell otherwise. Expect the parking to be bad if you don't buy a pirates ticket.

In previous years when this conflict has occurred, it wasn’t a big deal. We have never had trouble getting in our Pitt lot even when the Pirates game was not quite over. It is a cluster for traffic and for Pitt fans without a parking pass. Not something to stress over in my opinion.
