Would you like to play Rutgers again??

i know we've dominated you since 2005, but I think it would be nice to rekindle the rivalry. Ok, maybe not dominated, but we do have the edge.

That's okay, no offense taken. By Rutgers' historically modest standards, any advantage during any arbitrary timeframe has to be considered domination.

As for your question, yes, I would definitely play Rutgers again. We have a history together (Pitt leads 22-8) and you are located in our natural recruiting area.

You are obviously not near the top of our list of priorities and there are several schools I would rather play instead of you, but if the opportunity arose and one of those schools wasn't available, of course I'd schedule a game. I'd certainly rather play RU than a MAC school or some other random bottom tier team from the B10, B12 or P12.

I must have missed something. Pitt had a rivalry with RU?

That's a tough one. Playing in NJ would be helpful in recruiting since the local kids have no affinity for RU but playing them would also give RU legitimacy as a program. I would pass but it's a non-starter since RU likes cream puff OOC schedules.

Yeah that last match up we had sure looked like "domination" face it "Al" Rutgers got most of those wins while Pitt was in turmoil in Wanny years...losing to other bad teams...it's 22-8 for cryin out loud...

Sure. Pitt needs an easy week 1 rent a victim. I wouldn't do it home and home though.

Reasons for yes :

1. It's an easy win
2. It counts as a P5 win.
3. It helps us steal more of your recruits.

Reasons for no:

1. It hurts our Strength of Schedule
2. It's would mean at least one game in freaking NJ.

Tough call.

Absolutely. I think it would be good for recruiting purposes plus it's an easy drive to go to the game. Of course it would have to be after UPS or WVU but would be much more preferable to a MAC or non-P5 school.

I guess in the world of Rutgers, a 5-3 record over 8 years .... at the height of the Rutgers 130 year history program.... is "dominance".

I wouldn't mind having a rotation of Rutgers and Maryland on our schedule each year. Close travel and good recruiting areas.

You will need as much KY jelly as you can spare with OSU, MSU, Uof M and even perenially 4th place PSU. Better to reserve ammo on your side of the thrust.

Absolutely! But only if better programs such as Nova, Temple, Delaware, and Monmouth arent available.

I think the thing that Pitt fans forget is that RU only needed 1 win to clinch their only BCS bid. But they lost to a mediocre Pitt team and then to Louisville the next week. Glad to keep them out of the Sugar Bowl. A program as putrid as Rutgers doesnt deserve that.

Yo Rutger al didn't about six of the RU players get arrested for breaking and entering and the team captain was suspended for hitting a woman after an RU game. Maybe the captian was just getting ready to play in the NFL lots of that going on there.
Lots of character in NJ where the state bird is a mosquito.

Plus recruits are leaving you might get ready to suit up?

we've dominated you over the history of the series fool (22-8). In fact we have dominated you recently as well; 3 out of 4:
2009 Pitt
2010 Pitt
2011 Rutgers
2012 Pitt

Personally I would like to continue our domination over your flea bag school, but we need to upgrade our schedule...

Let me tell you who you really are:

In the world of the Mafia big guns, you’re Fredo Corleone…

In the big stage of entertainment you’re Milli Vanilli…

In the educational library of literature, you’re a MAD Magazine…

And on the playing field of competitive sports, you’re Rosie Ruiz…

In short, you’re a bunch of wannabes and neverhavebeens pretending to be something you’re not….

Have a nice day…. And keep dreaming... Moron...

I don't think so Al. I'm loathe to say this, but playing Rutgers does nothing for us. You see Rutgers is a train wreck, a national joke and hardly worth playing. Not unlike our situation in 2010. And after five years, while most of us think our coach has right the ship, we are still waiting to reach the "next level". Expect the same.

Tell you what, stop by when your football program is capable of sustaining eight wins and we can talk turkey. Until then good luck.

Two more college football backwaters every year? So what if its close travel, those are shitty college football environments and Pitt needs to focus on filling its own stadium, not someone else's. Those two teams don't draw anyone anyway. Simply put, nobody cares about Rutgers and Maryland football, including most of their alums. They have no history, tradition, or sustained success, ever.

The "recruiting inroads" argument is weak, IMO. I sincerely doubt that Pitt or anyone else gains any quantifiable recruiting advantage based on where it plays its away games.

you wouldn't put any money in our pockets. your stadium is empty and ours is full. We'd help fill your stadium :)

The only thing empty around here is your skull. Yes....attendance.....the last refuge when you have nothing else to argue about.... How has attendance helped you in recruiting? How has it helped you in winning more games? How has it helped you in gaining respectability instead of a national joke???

I know rutgersal made some enemies on these boards, but I usually find his over the top comments highly entertaining, including this thread.

I mean, c'mon guys... He passionately follows a program with over a century long miserable losing history... It's like you're getting infuriated at a trash-talking homeless teddy bear.

IIRC it was RutgersAl that coined the phrase: Rutgers is the "USC of the East" a couple of years ago. As tempting as it may sound, if it was my decision to play a B1G team, I would rather play Iowa every year. Just my 2¢.

LOL. I like this guy. RutgersAl, you need to come over here more.

Do you think that fool realizes that RU filled its small stadium but one time this year....when they got bitch slapped by Ohio State and OSU brought in their army of fans.
They play to about 47,000 fans per game. Sucks when you consider that the Nebraska nation, Buckeye nation and Spartan nation visited.
hey Al...better to be thought a fool than to post and remove all doubt.

rutgersal has always been good for a soundbite. I'm surprised so many people here earnestly responded to this topic.

With that in mind, I'll play rutgers more if pitt fans get free food from the grease trucks

Rutgers averaged 47723 fans per game this year. Pitt averaged 48150 fans per game this year.

I was gonna say, we'll help you fill YOUR stadium. No one is at your games either.

Should PITT play Rutgers?

Sure! Pitt recruits NJ kids every year and would like to establish a perpetual link. While RU would never be a big draw at Heinz Field, the games are typically good and winnable from PITT's perspective.

I would rather play RU than FCS teams.

That right there is some outstanding work.

Folks, this is what should be referred to as a 'perfect response'. Well done, well done indeed.

Well maybe your fellow dolt should ask the "perfect question" instead of a backhanded question and he might get a more civil response... Right????

Now scram!

For sure Al would be one of the first posters in the "Forum Poster Hall of Fame" if there ever was such a thing. I think it's funny to see how butthurt people get over his silliness.

See you in Yankee Stadium some year Al. It's going to take awhile on your end. Would be fun ...lol.

I'd love to. It would give you and opportunity to get a look at all of your ex-commits.

Cruzer

Al, no bullshit questions here for you mate.

1. Do you think Rutgers would have beaten Pitt this year and if so how handily?
2. Is your over/under on wins for Rutgers next year 8 with you taking the over?
3. Do you think Rutgers will win the Big10 within the next 3 years?
