This isn't about basketball. This is about the caliber of students and fans that are at wvu. It's not exactly college material. Most could not get into a community college. Think about that.

Why would you be upset that WVU embraces the rivalry? I’m seriously asking the question. There are undoubtedly reasonable Pitt fans who agree with me. The Coliseum was sold out because it was Litt. Mylan Puskar was sold out in week 3 because it was VPI.

Well, first of all, the fan thing is exaggerated quite a bit and if they were a bit out of hand at one time, for people to believe our fans are/were really worse than everyone else is plain bull crap. There's plenty of stories around the country over the years on how bad fans are. As far as the quality of our students, couldn't get into a community college? Keep exaggerating. Our individual schools are pretty good, it's the overall ratings that hurts us and for obvious reasons. We've done plenty for what we have to work with considering the ignorant stigmas we have to live under, but Charles Vest, the Toyota thing, awards. I think WVU has held their own considering the poor economics we have to work with.
We even get blamed for that and it was filmed in Georgia-and they don't even have to pay for it.
To be fair, the only reason that people believe it is because it is so obviously true.
I mean you might not want to hear the truth, but that doesn't change it.

Feel free to find ANY ranking in which WVU is rated better than a glorified community college.
Pitt is a world renowned research institution that is academically in a different stratosphere than WVU... in every possible way to measure it.
You do finish higher in most "party school" rankings, so there's that.

Pps. 90% of WVU undergrads could not get into Pitt.
There are multiple rankings where Pitt is now ranked similarly to other elite schools in the top 25, like the Ivys, CMU, other ACC schools (Duke, UNC, GT) and higher than Notre Dame. These aren't just magazines. Show me ONE source of any kind where wvu is even showing up in the top 300. There is no comparison in the academics of Pitt and wvu. Not even close.
So take it somewhere else. Your school isn't in the same discussion as Pitt in any universe. But you do have athletics....oh wait, you're not that good in those either. Sorry. Beating Pitt in basketball doesn't count.

I care about academics and the reputation of my school academically. Basketball is all fun and games and nice for passing the time. It's not at all important, it's a diversion. My sports teams never once got me any of my jobs or had anything to do with my career or life.

In the end, WVU couldn't even beat us by more than The Citadel did.
Pitt is going to have a winless conference season and single-digit-win full season. We're the worst P6 team in the country.
The fact that WVU could only beat a depleted and pathetic Pitt team by 15, despite getting 32 turnovers. would be very concerning to me if I were unfortunate enough to be a Hoopie.
Doesn't bode well for the only WVU athletic program that is better than Pitt's equivalent (no, rifling doesn't count).

It is truly shocking to go from watching the Pitt teams from the Big East to watching you guys today. Couldn’t even get the ball up the court. Still not sure why you fired a guy that regularly got you into the tourney but I’m glad you did.
Nobody is comparing WVU to pitt academically, or any other top 100 academic institution. It's not the point, which is WVU does damn good pound for pound with what they've been dealt with. We are an R1 research institution and individually, many of our schools within are very respected.
The only ranking where Pitt is with the ivy leagues is the RPI.
And if we are ever in the same discussion as Pitt, it’ll be a dark day. Worst basketball team in America, playing in a rented football stadium in front of 20k fans while losing to MAC schools in a dream season.
They could get into community college. But its basically IUP South. We all know the vast majority of WVU students could not get into Pitt, PSU, OSU, etc. What makes it worse is there standards are so low for in-state kids, they accept a large number of hillbillies with 850s on SAT because they got a 3.8 GPA at their rural "high school."

i have been to 31 different college stadiums for both pitt games and non pitt games and NEVER i have EVER seen fan behavior as bad as WVU's.
you cant see that because you run in that same crowd with those perps so they dont give it to their own.

Yeah, and people like to exaggerate and I'm not when I say I've been going to games there since the early 70s and I have NEVER seen fan behavior like what you've alluded to. And that's the truth and a lot of WVU fans say that. People make stuff up and don't tell me bad stuff doesn't happen at other stadiums like the SEC for example. And another thing I've noticed is you people can't participate in a discussion without being racist and name calling towards WVU/West Virginia. Real educated class there.
