Wow, the hate level toward Pitt

This thread is the epitome of what makes the Brawl so great.

You aren’t getting this entertainment with a game versus Wake Forest and we aren’t getting it with a game against Texas Tech.

There have been some golden rebuttals by hoopies on this thread. I’m guessing that many of the Pitt fans on this specific thread are at least 60 years old based on some of the responses and lack of comedy snark.

I was @ the game. ( had not been in that building, in more than 40 years) The noise level was incredible.
I had a Pitt parka on, and a nike Panther logo zipneck underneath. No one said a word to me all night. The food offerings were really impressive; (shrimp & grits? check; veggie burger? check chicken & fries? regular burgers,
all looked good. The "ESP' chant is just something they are always going to do. I tell you this; IT REMAINS
the most intimidating home court in major college BB. I wish I new what the decibel level of the sound system& crowd noise was. Very intense & impressive

Yeah I think it was great. I enjoyed hearing WVU fans chant "eat s@#t Pitt". Brought back memories of when I was in school. And I like that we have a rivals that feels that level of hate towards us.

They really need to flip the court and put the student section on TV like Pitt did

You could hear them on TV, but you’re looking at older fans with their legs crossed while watching

I would be willing to bet that greater than 75% of Pitt fans would understand the importance of forest management, preservation, wildlife management, etc. It’s not different than a Music major, Accounting major, etc.

Any hunter, fly-fisherman, etc would also agree.

Let all of us Pitt fans be honest. WVU views us as their rival. We loathe the fact that they even do this. We view Penn State as our rival. They loathe the fact that we do this.

I will hand it to them though, the WE WANT THE CITADEL cheer was pretty good.

But….13-9.

I went to a few down there during the Glory Days. Besides someone throwing change at me (they missed), WVU fan behavior for bball is a million times better than football. Im sure that the lack of tailgating is the main reason
 
Went to Morgantown for the 2003 game.

Had my van keyed (license plate is UPITT89) and garbage dumped on its roof.

Had oranges tossed at us as we exited the stadium (people thought the winner was getting Orange Bowl invite).

Never went back. Neanderthal assholes. Everything that is wrong with America can be encapsulated by looking at the average WVU fan.
 
I worked in Charleston out of graduation from Pitt. Since I am a good Catholic boy I went to church and parked my car with its Pitt sticker in the parking lot of the Cathedral. When I came out one of the good WV Catholics had written sucks on my dirty window next to my sticker. Unbelievable.

If my football program was barely north of .500 over a 40 year span and hoops program was in the state of Pitt’s program, then I would certainly cite academics and fan behavior in all of my posts as well.

That’s all I’d have.

However, where Pitt fan, who despises the BB, is seriously flawed is by discounting a great rivalry like the BB. Moreover, they should be that much more excited to have a beam of relevance shine on them by another fan base.

No exaggeration at all. I've seen it first hand when wvu fans instigated brawls in the stands at Heinz Field, many brawls, and were tossed from the stadium. While being tossed by police, they continued to fight and act like heathens. It really happened. If you never saw it, you didn't have your eyes open.

How about wvu fans throwing things at Pitt fans? I've seen that too, with injuries. Not to mention wvu fans throwing coins at Pitt coaches and hitting them. And throwing things at Pitt players while exiting the court. I've seen wvu fans empty what appeared to be urine bottles on Pitt fans.

We're talking reality here, dude. This is your fanbase. Uneducated, crude, rude, and incapable of any measure of decency. One of the reasons we're glad that we have the fanbases we do in the ACC and know that you'll never qualify for entry into the ACC. You don't fit in. What are you going to do when the Big 12 or whatever it is now collapses?

Me??? LOL! That's hilarious!!! I have 0 debt....that means no debt, for you wvu fans. I pay off the one credit card I have every month, have no mortgage, and have no loans of any type. If I want a car or other large purchase, I pay cash. And my loans, the one I had, was paid off decades ago. The Masters degree I have was paid for by my employer and I owed nothing.

I get your message, though. I agree that going to a community college for at least the first couple of years is more cost effective than going straight to an expensive college and going into debt for it. If you have to go that route of straight to college, pay cash for it, work it off, and don't take out loans. Maybe wvu fans would have been better off getting associates degrees in community colleges. They'd be worth more than a wvu degree.

Since we're picking arbitrary time frames... how about something more relevant, like 10 years.

Pitt last 10 years: 69-56
WVU last 10 years: 66-54

Almost identical. Even in our mediocre current stretch, you can't do any better.

2. You are delusional. I’ve been to most BB football games and haven’t seen that sort of repeated physical altercations that you state.

Have you ever sat in the upper sections of Heinz during a Steeler game? It is the absolute worst fan behavior that I have ever witnessed at a sporting event. And most of it is yinzer on yinzer which makes it maddening.

It’s a reason I’ll watch away Steeler games but rarely watch at Heinz anymore.

And this has undoubtedly been the worst 10 year stretch in my lifetime.

Your mediocre current stretch is par for the course and 100% of Pitt fans would agree with that statement.

Your school has a lesser Dept of Athletics. Sorry.

The ONLY ranking that matters is an academic ranking. The sports stuff is fine entertainment and a diversion, nothing else. The day after a game is played, it's over and forgotten, win or lose. Not so with an education.

And you're wrong. Do some research on where Pitt ranks in terms of many criteria with other elite schools, including the Ivys. It will prove you wrong.

We don't want a school like wvu to be in the same discussion as Pitt, ever and with anything. We know that will never happen with the quality of the education.

There you go with the attendance garbage. Incidentally, we are getting a bit more than 20K for games. The last couple of home games, especially the Clemson and Miami games, we had more fans in the stands than you get in your stadium. Chew on that.

But if you want to talk sports, lets bring your bunch of misfits of a football team to Heinz Field and we'll see who wins that game. Kenny would put up 60 on you guys easily. And with rankings? Where are you in football? We're at least in the top 25 and have the best QB in the country. You don't have anything close to that.

You get free wins by playing Kansas every year, the worst P5 program in the country. At least the ACC's version of Kansas... Duke....is occasionally good.

Don't worry though... going forward you won't have to play Texas or Oklahoma every year in your soon-to-be second tier conference.

My WVU degree has literally paid off probably 125-150 fold.

There will literally be nothing in my lifetime that even approaches 20% of the value that my WVU degree has afforded me. I love the school. I love its mission.

In literally almost every sport that both schools have except basketball, Pitt currently has the better program.

Volleyball, soccer, baseball, wrestling, softball, track, swimming, etc. And football.


Congrats on being better in basketball at the moment, though.
