Our OL gets a ton of credit for its blocking, as it should, but our WRs did a great job yesterday too. I just watched the highlights from yesterday's games (mostly scoring plays, of course), and our WRs were outstanding with their blocks.

On the Conner 20 yard TD run that made it 42-40, Aaron Mathews took his guy down to the goal line and then had him totally locked up near the pylone, and Conner was able to run into the endzone right next to Mathews, and was untouched by the CB. He doesn't catch many passes - yet, but he is a beast as a blocker, and is the reason he gets in on as many plays as he does. BTW, he is really strong as the gunner on the punt team, so anyone who sees his limited number of catches and thinks he should've been redshirted is under appreciating his contribution to this year's team.

On the same play, even little Henderson helped with the blocking, as he came back from the edge to run a bit of interference, then raced downfield to push a guy into the endzone, who otherwise would've been able to make the tackle.

On the Orndoff shuffle pass TD in the first half, Weah ran his route straight to the goal line, then just blocked the CB completely out of the play to the back of the end zone.

Blocking is an underrated aspects of being a good WR, and Pitt's WR are doing a really good job in this respect, which is an important contributor to our offensive success this year.

I noticed this as well. Matthews block on Conners TD run late in the game was crucial to him scoring. It's the little thiings like this that make the difference.

I was also really impressed by Mathews covering on punts. The Panthers were at a field position disadvantage for most of the game, but Mathews' hustle and hitting kept them from being worse off on a couple of punts. Great to see his talents making an impact there.

Great OP... raleigh.

I noticed these crucial blocks too. Just a great effort by them. I hope Narduzzi and staff make a point of showing these types of plays to all receivers to demonstrate to them that they don't needed to get the ball to be a critical part in the success of a play.

It was really a truly beautiful team effort on Saturday.

Yes- Great point. He was terrific. Made some incredible tackles. Mathews is already proving to be a very valuable recruit. His ceiling is looking pretty high.

So promising to see these young guys step up in such a big game- Their play in this win will give them even more confidence: The confidence to KNOW they can contribute at a level that can help beat anyone as opposed to still have some doubt (if they were to lose).

I have to tip my hat to Coach Sherman he really has developed our young receivers and even has developed Weah.

Have to agree after re-watching the game the WR's do block very well downfield. I have been as harsh a critic of the pass defense play as anyone but that pick with just under 6 minutes saved the season and the O made plays to get the ball downfield when they had to. Peterman played his best game ever in a Pitt uni and our run defense is as good as its ranking its just such a shame we couldn't have had just decent DB play in the UNC and VT game and we'd be 8-2. I just hope the momentum from this win carries into the last 2 weeks. Finishing 8-4 sure seems like a real possibility but they still have to go out and make plays I don't think Duke or SU will lay down with both needing to win out to get 6 wins. It would sure be sweet keeping both of them short of the 6 win mark. Winning out would be an awesome statement saying Pitt is turning the corner on disappointing home losses when games really matter. Both these next two home games are huge 8-4 is a damn good year and sounds way better than 7-5 or God forbid 6-6. We really have an opportunity here to make a statement that we can turn the corner. I think they get it done
