This team is pathetic in every way , they don't even look like they care half the time , is it Jamie ? I don't know but something needs to change FAST , this is not the Pitt I know and love .. It's really embarrassing actually , who would of thought we would be getting blown out on our home floor let alone losing routinely at home like we do now , very sad to look at the state of this program right now , also this team should not be anywhere near the tournament and they deserve it , they lack effort and that issue is bigger then some of you realize

We've had a lot less talent than this before and have never been this bad , these guys do not care about defense and they give up when things don't look good

They lost their way a few years back when they lost the ability to play the quality of defense they were playing the previous decade. This is just another middle of the road program. One that on occasion will make the dance but will bow out the first weekend. Somehow they need to get a couple dynamic players who can take over games. Jamie hasn't been able to get them.

This, 100%.

I will say it again...pitt when they were successful wasn't getting great recruiting classes. However, they found players that fit a tough, physical system, and got better even if they didn't wow you with their athleticism.

I put it this way. We used to have one guy like Gil brown...now we have 5 of them and it isn't working.

Today's college bball isn't as physical as before. Yes getting a little bit tougher players would be good, but having a great center and a quick, take the ball to the hoop, good shooting 2/3 guard would do the trick. Pitt is too one-dementional being an only jump shooting team.

Virginia is taking it to us because they can do it all & they make like every three they take...

Go Pitt

I was very much in the camp that wanted to see what the high-potential, old-school recruits we have coming in next year can do before completely getting on the 'We Need A Change Train', but my faith is very much waning. This team lacks a leader, any kind of leader. That is not a good thing and reflects VERY poorly on the coach when you have 5 guys who are upperclassmen, all play significant minutes, and are in their 3rd or 4th year with the program, PLUS 3 grad transfers.

I often get the feeling watching the body language of our 3 'stars' that they seemingly just don't care if we don't come out of the gates nailing jumpers. With MY, I still hold-out hope that it's largely just frustration, even still, I expect more in a 3Y starter. You'd never see upperclassmen act this way during the 2000-2011 run.

Agreed - Pitt has lacked court leadership for awhile.

Just remember...people wanted to run guys like McGhee, brad, gray, and Nasir off the team. They also constantly b*tched about Adams his first year here. We would kill for any one of those guys right now.

Brad and Nasir are 2 of my favorite panthers ever , they simply wanted too win , played every game like it was their last ..

Dixon didn't evolve and improve as a HC and that includes playing the recruiting game. You don't evolve in any profession and you die on the vine. We're watching Dixon die on the vine.

Just remember people didn't want them replaced by worse players! And that's what Dixon did. he replaced physical BB players with modest skills with soft players with modest skills. That's how you get your head handed to you buy a $hit team like NC St. on your home floor.

We don't have a single guard who can carry Brown's jock.

Talent wise we are about 11-12th best in the conference. This issue is compounded by us being soft, lacking true floor leadership, and bad defense.

Go back and look at recruiting classes, you're wrong. The 2009 team had 9 guys on the roster that were top 75-100 this year maybe two.

Seems that UVA has found a way to play hard-assed, aggressive defense without running afoul of the new rules and the ACC officiating.
Well, I agree with him to the point you can't just bang like pitt used to, but we simply do not have guys that can play any defense.

Hummm and who is responsible for getting the guys who can play defense and maybe offense tooo?
Geezzz I keep forgeting the answer to this question but I bet you know!
its been a while since we played goood defense so that person must not be doing his job of getting players who can actually play.

Yep...but it extremely hypocritical for anyone on here to criticize Dixon for it because people wanted him to go for offensive players first.

Are you suggesting he successfully recruited those gifted offensive players? Outside of Young, name one guy on this team that cane to Pitt with the rep of a bona fide scorer. Even Artis was described as a "hard-hat, lunch-pail type player" in the media guide. Really?

You roll out our "scorers" against the scorers on the better teams in this league it's like bringing a butter knife to a gun fight. We need to get back to basics, and that won't be possible until we graduate a few of the marshmallows on this team and replace them with some kids who will fight to compete and win. We need some true bigs who aren't afraid to get some blood on their jerseys and some guards who will roll up their sleeves and harass people on D and that can pressure the opponent with dribble penetration and solid shooting at the other end.

Dixon, but it is also what most on here people asked for.
We dont get a vote nor do we recruit players.
Dixon's the hc and should know more than us!
A complete basketball player plays both offense and defense.Trust me Ive seen them on other teams like on alot of tne teams we play.

Well how about I'll play HC Dixon for a second.
How about getting the disinterested group together and get them a bit more interested by telling them if they dont get more interested Pitt wont be interested in continuing to give you a schlorship!
Thats the kind of things hc do.
