In not particular order:

  • Keeps his eyes down field while the play is developing
  • Rolls out well and keeps his eyes downfield
  • Goes thru his progressions while keeping his eyes down field
  • Threw no interceptions while keeping his eyes down field
  • Ability to pump fake while keeping his eyes down field
  • Keeps his eyes down field!

I note a common theme through all those keys. Well done.

The one thing you forgot to mention is that he keeps his eyes down field.

I think what’s impressive is his ability to both make a quick decision and fire it out, AND have the patience to read his progression while extending the play. A lot of the times, it’s an an either/or thing with young quarterbacks.

Then Quick release, knows where is receivers are, gotta say Yarnel made Cignetti look a lot better, the other two, slow release and had no concept of where their receivers would be, just unbelievable to wait this long to get the best player on the field, but good ole boy networking rather than production is a common theme among the Cignettis (don't ask)

the OP makes it seems so easy .

yeah , all i said is was he was better than the canadian.

Now , how do we get to .500 ?

QBs need the "he may run" to keep a defense honest. I hear you on the getting hurt but you gotta do it!
Exactly. Trevor Lawrence at Clemson was surrounded by gifted athletes yet his running proved time and again to be the difference. 6’6” dude could run and truck. Nate comes from read option Texas pedigree. He’s not gonna scoot out of bounds or slide - yet.

Two things:

1) the pump fake that allowed Means to get separation from the DB was a thing of beauty

2) if you listened to Nate after the game (at the press conference) he admitted to finding a piano to play at the hotel before the game. I vote for getting a piano for the locker room ...

Great job yesterday, guys ... H2P!

If he plays like this going forward I would be in favor of a piano on the sideline!

The game seemed slow for him. He seemed patient and under control vs the others qb. I like the run as others said need that threat. Interested to how goes against better defense. As of now hopeful

Yep. Also:
  • Had the confidence in his accuracy to be able to throw the ball into the middle of the field on several occasions. Pitt had been primarily using a majority of throws outside the hash marks this season.
  • Ran a couple of RPO’s with decisiveness and by making good, quick reads, including 1 for a TD. He’s not a “running” QB. But he has enough size and quickness to use those keepers as a weapon to pick up key yardage on occasion.
  • Pitt was not nearly as sloppy in terms of pre-snap penalties. Maybe not a coincidence?

Second reads like the pump fake.

Second reads like the pump fake.
That’s a key part of it. Thought in addition to the accuracy on many of his throws, his reads were quick and accurate.

Will be interested to see how he handles pass rush pressure. BC wasn’t able to generate much of that last night.

Will he be able to find his hot reads and/or check downs? Avoid sacks and turnovers? Save yardage? Handle adversity?

Looking forward to seeing that. Makes the last game of a very disappointing season a bit more meaningful and interesting.

You forgot: Add a shitload of talent.
On the offensive line, yes. For the skill positions, I think it’s more like “don’t lose the talent” (e.g., Gavin B, Hammond, Kenny Johnson). I’m really hoping we don’t have a mass exodus, but I’m not counting on it…

Our QB1 is from here on out known as "The Piano Man".
Credit my wife for that. I told her the QB plays piano, and she sang out "We're all in the mood for a victory!"
He's got us feeling alright for a week in the midst of an awful season.

Hopefully one of our creative posters can change the lyrics to suit Pitt and NY
