We may...MAY...win 1 more game the rest of the season. Including in the ACCT. I had hopes that we'd pull this win out against a bad GT team. But I knew deep down we're not even as good as they are. We just lost to 2 very bad teams in a row and facing a couple more sure losses.
This Pitt team is as irrelevant as Capel is. If we hired a good high school coach, he would do better. Maybe he'd practice these guys until they dropped, then run them for 10 miles or so. Last 3 in get to run another 10 miles.

Disappointing because 24-12, 22-11, 12-2 looked like a legit corner turning coming.
Capel will need a HUGE class of high end portal players if he wants to have a team next year. There will be transfers and loss of eligibility this year. Probably 4 or 5 players with eligibility won't return next year.
The problem is what high quality portal player would transfer here with no head coach to speak of, a decaying program, and absolutely no direction?

this was a terrible GT team, painful to watch. Honestly this game should be a fire-able offense.
It's basically a one-year contract for the player. They get paid and Capel lets his players play with a lot of freedom. I expect Capel to return, but it's not like Pitt is going to put a team void of talent on the floor next year regardless of who is coaching.
The way I see it, if Capel was going to be the guy to get us back where we want to be, it would’ve happened by now. Even notorious “late bloomers” like Scott Drew and Leonard Hamilton had multiple NCAAT appearances by this point.

GT is 5-2 in their last 7 with wins @ Clemson and vs Lou. They did lose to UVa and BC. They are legitimately better than us, which is why I had to put $50 on the GT moneyline. The payout was too good. I thought Pitt could win but knew GT was better.
Someone tweeted that if Pitt and Wake had 2nd Half of their seasons like GT has had, both would be going to the NCAAT.
Some teams get better throughout the season like we did last year. That's basically GT this year but they dug a hole way too deep.
11-3 and 9-4 also looked like a corner turning for Pat, but both turned into a wall.
