Maybe only a surprise in how long it’s taking to get there but YouTubeTV is gradually getting their pricing up to what the the traditional cable companies were charging. Just announced that their 2025 price is getting increased from $72.99/month up to $82.99/month.

Going to have to start looking into other cord-cutting options same as previously done with cable companies.

I was paying like 170 for cable here and then cut and switched to YouTubetv. Im still saving like 90 bucks a month with more flexibility to watch wherever I want. Has been good so far. Im curious what other services are increasing by for the same excuses, or if any will stay the same.

I’ve had Sling for a few years, but have been thinking of switching to YouTubeTV.
I don’t live in Pittsburgh, so the question for me is, will I have any issues with the ACC Network and ESPN so that I can see all Pitt games?

Sure was expecting a reply to come back like yours. How many premium channels did you have thrown in there to be up at $170? Or did that $170 also include your internet?

I know I sure wasn’t paying anything close to $170 for cable way back when I gave it up and switched to YouTubeTV.

edit: note that I’m primarily just commenting on YouTubeTV pricing approaching cable prices as expected. I agree with you on their flexibility and other pluses. I have houses in Ohio and Florida and just use the same YouTubeTV account in both places.

Yeah, Hula+LiveTV is one option that immediately came to mind. Their pricing was always similar to YouTubeTV though so I wouldn’t be surprised to see a similar increase from them.
At least in my zip code
Hulu lacks CW which some games will be on - you’d need an antenna for that
Fubo lacks CW and espnu but gets penguins games

My u verse was 260 with internet in Florida. Internet went up as was packaged but still much cheaper to split. The issue was not premiums but to even get sports like espn and the kids stuff had to have higher base packages with a lot of crap we never watched.

The ACCN is on YTTV. But to get *all* Pitt FB and BB games, you need ESPN+ as well.

The number of games on ESPN+ would probably be less than five. I would even say less than three.

The only Pitt games on ESPN+ would be Big 12 and non-Power conference road games that are not on national TV.

I don't think I'm that invested in sports anymore to be paying this high monthly fee.

YTTV may be out with the new year for me.

This is very incorrect. As long as you have ACCN, you can watch every Pitt football and basketball game and do NOT need ESPN+ at all. In fact, I cant remember any game since ACC Network started, where you needed ESPN+. The only time you'd ever need ESPN+ is if they played a true road game at a Big 12 school and that game wasnt deemed good enough to be on ESPN, ESPN2, or ESPNU. Or if Pitt played a football or basketball game at a G5/mid-major school, there is a chance that game could be on ESPN+. Actually, I think Pitt @ Akron was ESPN+ only but that predated ACCN so a game like that now probably gets an ESPN network since so much of that content shifted to ACCN. If Pitt were to ever play Duquesne or RMU on the road in hoops and that game didnt make ESPN, ESPN2, or ESPNU, those games would be on ESPN+ but Pitt almost never plays these types of games.

One other nice capability with YouTubeTV is that you can very easily stop and restart service for any desired months. I’ve done that in the past for the summer months, will likely do that again in the future if I don’t go with another option altogether.

How does Starlink internet compare price wise to what you guys are paying for your internet? I have their least expensive non-prioritized package and it works great.

I consistently answer these threads saying get Vita IPTV. $30-ish NZD a month for movies, every channel, Netflix Apple Amazon series. Pretty much everything. So that's about $20 a month USD.

DM me if you want details.

Edit. $30 NZD for a year. Not a month.

I’ve done the same thing with Sling. Canceling their extra sports package in the offseason saves a little bit of $.
I might have to give YouTubeTV a try.

Thanks Biden. I assume these prices will begin to drop after January 20.

The good news is that this made me look up my Verizon Fios account, which I have YTTV bundled through and learned I can get Netflix and HBO Max for $10 total per month so that saves me a couple bucks. So when this Biden price increase goes through, I'll be at $187 for Fios, YTTV, Netflix, and HBO.

Fubo has a sports package that i think is like $20 extra a month but you get nfl redzone espnu and many other sports channels.

Without or with very limited regulations - the prices are going to go through the roof.

You can take a three month break from yttv, which I take between hoops and football.

$90 plus whatever you are spending for streaming. At the end of the day, the cord-cutting savings will never have materialized.

We have. ESPN+ through a Hulu, Disney+, ESPN+ bundle. Cost is pretty reasonable for all three IIRC. As others have said, the cost of cord cutting has gotten to the point where it is no longer a big deal compared to cable. But I like YTTV for the unlimited recordings for a nine month "keep". At the end of the day, though, there's only so much TV you can watch

Yes, I've been doing that for the past 5 years or however long YTTV has been around.

Think, I'm getting to the point of not caring anymore though.

That's not true - if I *just* had the ACCN and *not* ESPN+ - I couldn't watch last night's game - Live - nor the next one with SH as examples.

I have the ACCN on YTTV and the only way I could watch last night's game - and others was by having ESPN+.
Any Pitt games on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPNNews - yeah, I get all of those on YTTV without ESPN+.

But for the ACCNExtra (ACCNX) I have to have ESPN+ to watch those particular games.

You don't need an ESPN+ subscription to watch ACCNX games on the ESPN app, you can just login with your YTTV credentials on the ESPN app and you'll be able to watch the ACCNX games.
Ok, I didn't know that.

I don’t think what you are saying is accurate. If you go on to the espn app and want to “watch live” doesn’t it require you to enter your provider? So when you log into YTTV and have the ACC network you can watch the game even if you are not an espn+ subscriber.

So dumb question - if I do what you say then I can only watch it on my phone?

I can access the espn app on my Roku tv. My LG Tv doesn’t have ESPN app (at least last time I looked.). So the smart TVs usually have a list of apps that come with TV.
Yeah so the TV that I watch almost all of my programs is an 18 y/o Pioneer - but I *do* have a Chromecast hooked on it and have been able to throw content from the ESPN ap - on occasion to it but it's not always reliable and I lose it on that TV.

But I thought - incorrectly that you had to have ESPN+ in order to access ACCNX - and *then* I could use the ESPN ap to view it.

So as a result, I just watch the ACCNX games on my desktop.
My other LG smart TV doesn't have the ESPN ap either - or at least not where I can see.

If you get a fire stick you can stream the ESPN app on there. Easier and less clunky than a Chromecast.
