#ZooGotYourBack

They should start hanging this sign on the entrances to general admission seating. Perfectly fits the general mood of the non-zoo fans.

No we didn't have 2 tough losses, we had 1 tough loss and 1 embarrassing blowout because half the team was lazy, disinterested and clueless. Something now is up with Young(who knows to what degree this is) and the team obviously doesn't appreciate your "love" because it got blown out at home by a winless NC State team.

Look I love Pitt and have gone to the ends of the earth over the years to watch them play wherever I am. However as I told DT, when the team is quitting mid game and pouting and not bothering to try and play any defense, it gets difficult for even the most passionate fans to claim they are facing "adversity".

Stop for a moment....this is the official student section, a 20 year old kid or kids. They're trying to be supportive. And youre literally raging at the clouds yet again about the injustice of being subjected to the word "adversity" when you'd prefer they say "we stink".

Your panties are literally in a bunch so tight they'll need to cut you out of them over this?

Here's a tip. Turn off the TV tonight. Go take your wife out to dinner. Have a conversation with her. Forget the message board. Wake up tomorrow. All will be fine in your life either way.

Glad to be of help.

no wife.

I'll offer one more word and then you can have the last one.

My word is "disappointing."
DT...Much respect, but this seems a little off base.
So, what would you do if one of your employees gave you a crappy week of work with little to zero effort? Would you discipline him or send him a "feel good" tweet?
There is a huge difference between trying your best (and just not being good enough) and lack of effort + caring. There is obviously a contingent of people on this board who feel this team has displayed a lack of effort and that in turn is also disappointing.

Student athletes are employees? That's need to me.

"Week"? We played very hard versus Miami, the last play notwithstanding. W lost by 2 points on the road to the #2 team in the ACC. Yea, the UNC game sucked, but what is the zoo supposed to do? #zoowillboo ? #zoothinksyouplaylikepoo?

These kids are not employees either, not by a longshot.

You also can't turnover your roster this week and start playing 12 new kids. You either motivate them to get back on track or announce you're forfeiting the rest of the season.

A better analogy is that you're in some serious financial turmoil, do you go through bankruptcy and try to salvage as much as possible to continue doing business, or do you start liquidating your furniture?

Fans have the luxury to accept a bad team and say, "there's always next year." The players only get 4 of them, so hopefully they realize there's still a lot of try for. The students, likewise, only get to cheer in the Zoo so many times. I'm lucky to have been in the Zoo when things were going a little more smoothly, but there's always disappointment to some extent.

I remember one year, fans booed the players on senior night for losing to UConn. It's hard to believe our fanbase was that entitled that quickly...

Besides the Zoo our crowds are absolutely terrible , we had a great home court advantage for a good stretch of years because those teams were very good ...

Chevy Troutman and Mark McCarroll...that was a shameful day for Pitt fans. It's also why they switched the senior ceremonies to before the game.

That team responded to those entitled, lousy Pitt fans by winning their last 2 on the road to get into the tournament btw.

I just can't get over how stupid some of the comments are in this thread. Like, how miserable do Pitt fans need to be that they feel compelled to crap over the Student Section's efforts to support their team. Whether it is internal dissension or the fact that they've faced some good teams, Pitt IS facing adversity right now. But do we want to rally behind them and help them turn it around with our support? Of course not.

Also, as others have noted, I love the ease with which Pitt fans employ double standards. Students don't sell out and maybe leave early? "YOU SUCK!" Students try to rally behind team? "YOU SUCK!"

Our team has been on the road for a week, and had 2 tough loses. A rough patch against the ACC's best is nothing to be ashamed of, but something we need to get back on track from, and a big home crowd to rally around would be great. This same team has positioned itself to be in the NCAA tournament with a strong finish. 3 of the final 6 games are at home, and one road game an entire bus load of students is traveling 5 hours to support them. We do what we can to let them know they are not in this long season alone. In my 4 years at Pitt, I have never heard as many students say "I love this team" as I have this year. We have their back, through it all, because we love this team, and most importantly our school. There is no doubt in my mind the team has the same love for the Zoo. That is what makes the Zoo special, and that will never change despite your criticism and opinion.
Now, that right there, is what it's all about!

Exactly. Football fans sh!t all over the students for not drawing 5,000 kids for the full game after we've had four straight 6-6 years. The basketball team still has a reasonable chance to make it to the right side of the bubble and people act like the arena ought to be empty out of protest.

Thanks for the respectful response.

But I'm not sure your employee analogy works here. Regardless, I don't think it's up to me to try to "discipline" the team. I think it's up to me to support them. Some folks feel differently, though, and I guess I can respect this as well. But I'll leave it to the coaches to try to get the team to change their behavior with whatever method they think will work.

For what it's worth, I think it was Dixon who was booed, but not the players. Regardless, it wasn't a good look for the presentation to seniors.

On the road against a good ND team and BC, who was at the top of the league.

I am not happy with the effort from this team, but I give kudos to the Zoo. They have stepped it up since the beginning of the year. It would be nice if this team did the same.

I still laugh thinking about that BC game. Not only did John DeGroat score like the first 10 points for Pitt, but that was also the game that CK through a between the legs pass on a fast break. I loved Krauser.

It was the game when Jay Bilas called John Degroat the "best airball rebounder in the county."
