Hey Captain - any updates on the Ped Trials?

I haven't seen anything lately and there are so still so many open books

Clery Violations - Seems many schools are in violation -though Ped State is the only one covering up child molesters. Whoever has the ultimate authority in enforcing this act has a history of dragging its feet - but this is getting ridiculous.

Trial of Spanier Schultz and Curley - last I saw the judge said the trial would proceed as defense motions were denied.

Lawsuits - McQueary whistleblower suit, victims who didn't take the settlement, Insurance company saying Ped State wasn't covered. etc etc

I don't know if anyone is tracking the cost to Ped State for the "Paturdo Era".
I find it amusing and it may be worth noting when the price hits $409 million.
An astronomical figure but very reachable.
60 million settlements (so far)
60million NCAA fines
Lost Bowl revenues
Lost Big 10 revenues
Cost of Freeh Report
Attorney costs
Assorted consultants
misc related costs

I'm guessing we're somewhere in the mid $300million?

Also was hearing in central pa that McCord from the treasury office that quit/fired/accused.
Was involved in kickbacks to forcing the suit against the ncaa. According to locals he forced people to give monies to the
congressman from center county to fight the ncaa. What have you heard?

Yeah they had to know about Fed investigation...

Thus the hurry up on the NCAA lawsuit....thing should have been tossed out.

Reply

There is no question that McCord is a creep and a criminal...but you can be certain he was not directing money to Jake Corman. McCord is a very partisan Democrat and would never direct money to Corman, who is very much a Repbulican. McCord is very tied into PSU through state politics and donors...but there is next to ZERO connection between him and Corman, other than they were both involved in the law suit. Hail to Pitt!

Re: Reply

In Central PA, politics - and UPS football - seem to make the strangest bedfellows.

But I'm guessing that there are so many layers involved in this that the truth will never be known, because those who are responsible for the investigations want it that way.

mbe - So that is what the 409 stickers mean! Thanks for clarifying as I heard some disgraced, fired football coach who had 409 wins but they took a bunch away because he looked the other way from a known pedophile.

409 Million

Re: Reply

Inherited his seat from his Dad (happens a lot out here) and gets zero opposition because the Republican machine keeps it that way. However, Corman can't keep getting elected if he doesn't pander to the PSU crowd. Simple fact of life in Central PA. He is also very entrenched into the political machine of Pennsylvania so the notion of him working with a Democrat in that manner isn't unheard of or unthinkable.

Reply

The concept of American politics is that you represent your local constituency and their local interests. Obviously if PSU is in your district...you have to do what is best for the institution if you want to keep getting elected. That's how American politics work. However, the notion that the "Republican machine" keeps him from facing opposition is kind of silly...as if he were to have opposition...it would be from a Democrat or independent candidate. Corman is a good guy...and certainly will not be going to jail anytime...unlike Mr. McCord.

Funny part of all this is that AG Kane was largely elected by JoeBots and PSU folks...and she too will likely be leaving office in disgrace. Hail to Pitt!

Re: Reply

You seem to me to actually believe that Democrats and Republicans are not in bed together behind the scenes. They all have their agendas and in most cases they are not all that different.

Reply

Depends on the issue. However, in recent years, it has been very difficult to get bi-partisan support for much of anything...and I believe the record supports my view. Again, because politics are local, the issues vary by locality and the parties in power in those places generally support those issues. Where I may agree with you is a view that each party is not monolithic with lock step positions or views. In other words, it is the reason in some places in the country Democrats are big NRA people...and in other places it is the Republicans, etc. So in PSU country, it is not an R or D position...it is the position. Hail to Pitt!

Not an original thought, but....everyone knows that State and National governing bodies are bad, so everyone says to "vote the bums out of office".

But John Q. Public wants the other guy to vote his bum out, but he'll continue to vote to keep his own bum in office.

Kane's election made it abundantly clear the easy way to elected office is through pandering to the PSU crowd. I can see McCord and Corman forgetting party alliances to keep the Joebots happy

Point well taken.

But having been born and raised in Washington County, considered by many to be the most politically corrupt county in the Commonwealth, I do have some idea.

Clery Violations - Seems many schools are in violation -though Ped State is the only one covering up child molesters. Whoever has the ultimate authority in enforcing this act has a history of dragging its feet - but this is getting ridiculous.

Outright a cover up now that even some PSU Trustees and Erickson wanted to know what happen to that aspect of the University that was not obeying the laws and compliance until 2012. The Press is being told that the Education Investigation ended with 1200 Page Report that is so large it requires way more time to respond too???

Others say, some Penn State Grads that were lawmakers and are married to Appeal Judge and some Congressmen have held it up and the Education Department has gone along with it. Yet, no Newspaper Reporter has looked into either, but Louie Freeh will use it to defend himself against lawsuits but that is years away.

Still others say, DOJ will use it in their Title IX Investigation Report but even the New AG to replace Holder is still being approved and this will be her big thing if approved but against all the Universities not just Penn State.

One last thing I am told is that the PAOAG will use it in the Criminal Trials as a motive for the cover ups, but those trials are farther off as Appeals continue?

Right now, as predicted most of the Children Victims Civil Lawsuits would be settled and I still predict so will be the remaining 3 for now.

The NCAA made a grave error insisting on keeping all the $60 million from PSU Fine and I was right on that one from the start, and they had to settle too at great expense to their reputations on their misjudgments. I still think the Paterno Lawsuits will be settled too and McQueary too.

I stated, due to interlocutory appeal (or interim appeal), The Criminal Trials will be delayed for years and the longer the better for the Defendants!

But most importantly, My very first comments were that everyone in the Power Structures of Pennsylvania wants this to go away ASAP and and that is more true today than yesterday.

Trial of Spanier Schultz and Curley - last I saw the judge said the trial would proceed as defense motions were denied.

Judge Hoover's rulings are on Appeal right now. Under these cases you are allow to Appeal every decision of the Trial Court Judges before the Trial and that can take years. I said from the onset here, that the Penn State Three Defense Teams are outstanding and they continue to show it.

Lawsuits - McQueary whistleblower suit, victims who didn't take the settlement, Insurance company saying Ped State wasn't covered. etc etc

Same with all, as Judges are making calls slowly on Discovery and what is allow and not allow, as well, as if the cases can go forward. No one under the Green Dome, would be upset if this all went away and the sooner the better as far as they are concern.

I don't know if anyone is tracking the cost to Ped State for the "Paturdo Era".

Anyway one cuts it, The Paterno Era brought in millions as they spent some of those millions in Revenues he helped bring to Penn State to be fair. At the same time, Paterno's Family and his wife Family also benefited big time with great jobs and pensions still accumulating from Commonwealth and for jobs Paterno made sure they got hired at Penn State and some still working there?

Moreover, to be even more fair, Paterno was only paid around $500,000 a year and his Assistants even less than what is Coach Franklin and Staff is being paid in the millions with a bigger million buyout. The same for the New President, AD, and others that are paid much higher and Spanier, Schultz, and Curley were actually paid lower than most colleges their size.

Paterno's Salary was augmented by Shoe Contracts by Nike whose CEO is a PSU Grad. Whether that has been reduced by Nike is not known maybe someone lese knows? It was part of the problem earlier discussed on how much the Penn State Brand has taken a hit on Property Rights for their Hats, Shirts, Coats etc etc. I know I was able to buy Penn State Hats just last year for $1.25 for many Penn State Friends while all other College Hates were on sale for $8.00 at Walgreens. They are starting to wear their Penn State Gear again, but they told me they get some stares but not much vocal disdain like when the Scandal broke.

Yet, Franklin hiring has already exceeded expectations and far exceeded Paterno & Staff Recruiting as far as Quality, Caliber, and Stars, than Paterno ever recruited in Pennsylvania and the region. Now they will watch if Franklin & Staff can exceed the coaching and wins Paterno was known for prior to joining the Big Ten?

They still are divided between some that are upset the Penn State Scandal ever happen, to time to move on, to wanting to know all the truth like why Second Mile and DPW never charged, to fewer
it never happen and the university is the victim, and others don't care about the university anymore? This kind of Public Relations cost is hard to value, but it has been very costly and not turning around as fast as they expected either?

This also includes way more Compensation for the New President, AD, and other Staffers Employees at Penn State and the Big Ten is still not giving them back their Bowl Money Share that has been given and pledged Youth Organization and Child Protection Agencies. The Big Ten did pay for the Team expenses for the Pinstripe Bowl but no equal bowl money share.

PSU is still not selling out all their games or season ticket sells either, but they still attract 100,000+ at games, so it is coming back un der Franklin's Recruiting Excitement. They have to pay back loans for their Athletics too.

Yet, it is harder to add up all the costs still coming in on legal, public relations, and consultant fees and these costs are going to continue for years. There are three Victims still not settled and heading towards a Civil Trial as well and if they do get a verdict, it can be anything since punitive damages will be considered and those are not in Centre County.

I find it amusing and it may be worth noting when the price hits $409 million. An astronomical figure but very reachable. 60 million settlements (so far) 60million NCAA fines Lost Bowl revenues Lost Big 10 revenues
Cost of Freeh Report Attorney costs Assorted consultants misc related costs I'm guessing we're somewhere in the mid $300million?

It will approach if not exceed over $500 Million soon just from 2010 to today and not including all those hidden costs of the reforms. In the end, it will exceed over Billions when it is all added up and all the Reforms continue to be part of process that had to make sure Penn State is in compliance with all alws all the time now, unlike Paterno Era?

Few understand all the changes that had to be implemented that Spanier, Paterno, Schultz, and Curley were ignoring and the Trustees did not know about or kept from them or were part of not obeying all the Rules, Law, and regulations by way of the "Penn State Way"?

Additionally, this does not include the Costs to the Commonwealth Taxpayers for the Investigations, Judicial Rulings, Grand Juries, and Prosecutions? Governors and Senate Legal Costs & Staff & Outside Counsel on Lawsuits they filed to protect that "Success With Honor" Motto?

Furthermore, There is even greater costs to Penn State on Clery & Title IX Act New Ethics & Compliance Office, Athletic Integrity Agreement Officer & Staffs Oversight, NCAA Monitor Oversight, Administrators, Faculty, Coaches, and Employees Yearly Multiple Compliance, Monitoring and Training, as well as Contributors Criminal Background Checks before accepting their money, and every Student Orientation Training before Enrollment that requires Students taking a few hours on how to know the regulations and laws, and report crimes. Talk about the "Grand Experiment" Costs and don't expect the Legislature to cut Penn State Education Allotment that much?

There is still a dispute among what Penn State will pay for and what their Insurance Companies will pay for and Penn State Insurance is still covering all costs for Spanier, Curley, and Schultz's Defense?

Also, there are a few Reporters and Victims Lawyers Investigators and Freeh Investigators looking into some Penn State former politicians working with Pennsylvania Judges involved in PornGate and maybe used Undue Influence on some of these issues.

It was not just 1 or 2 Judges and a few Corbett, Kelly and Ryan PAOAG Employees, but that far more than many know. It is all being played out over the Open Record Appointment, Kane Grand Jury Leaks allegations, and New Supreme Court changes and elections coming as well. If that breaks it will only get worse but we will get more of the full truth and I have supported that kind of transparency too.

In any event, this is the biggest University in the Commonwealth and it has cost Pennsylvania huge amounts of money to date all from a Penn State Graduate, Player, Coach, Employee and Annuitant, that was awarded Professor Emeritus by other Penn State Employees and Graduates that were not in compliance with many laws and regulations and had no Athletic Integrity Agreement, Officer, Ethical Compliance Office and Athletes Code of Conduct and treated differently than regular students that ahd to be corrected at greater costs for years to come.

But they got the Paterno's Vacated Wins Back and that is more important to a few from that CULTure that still think the Children weer lying and greedy? Yet, to be fair there are far more the Penn State Silent Majority that just want to know the full truth and care about making sure it does and why I support Pitt reaching out playing Penn State every year now.

I still admire and respect both schools and I want Pitt to play the best to beat the best, and that goes for WVU too. Penn State is in full compliance and model for many colleges to follow now on that aspect of laws and regulations that is now the focus of DOJ Civil Rights Title IX Investigations but it only happen after great cost to Penn State, Commonwealth, and Children Victim's Nightmares.

These costs cannot be measured by just money paid out to date, but the leftovers of winning more important than doing the right thing at the right time, and confusion that happen on what to do, once they thought Sandusky's retirement would remove the problem and then whe it all came out, nothing could be ignored anymore?.

All in know is Penn State is far better off and far better university without Paterno than it was with him, and any reasonable, intelligent, and Penn State Fan and Alumnus can thank Joe for building a great program and was without a doubt a great coach to be fair, but as in the Alma Mater Song, some Penn State Graduates and Employees have "Brought Shame To State's Name and that is Stain that will never go away, no matter hat happens in the Criminal Trials or Civil Lawsuits.

Anyone can blame others, but this is a total Penn State Scandal of, by, and at Penn State and it happen on Paterno's watch even if one wants to believed Sandusky duped him and other?

If one wants to argue culpability i
ncluding their Penn State Employees and Trustees, that is fine and why Lawyers are in America to defend, advocate, and choose to seek out other alternatives, but it is still tragedy for the Commonwealth and it happen at Penn State!

Finally, I wish nothing like ever happens again at any university but more importantly never happens to children that were selected for sexual abuse for personal pleasure that promoted Penn State football, and then was covered up or intentionally ignored, in the misjudgment of some in charge of making sure all alws, compliances, and regulations were suppose to be implemented to prevent such crimes and Penn State University was not until 2012????

This is what upsets the Best and Brightest of Penn State Alumni, Employees, and Fans and they want to full truth too, keep that mind, when judging Penn State.

Re: Mbe 34!

Someone in the media needs to step it up and do some Ganim like work....

The fact this went on so long and would have continued if not for a high schoolers Mom is disgraceful...the fact it took the gutsy work of one lone reporter is sad...too many turning the other way...

People need to demand some justice here....period.

Oh...and Joe should have done more.....

Re: Mbe 34!

Thanks Capt

This is still an amazing story.
Since the 20 or victims settled there really isn't anyone pushing for trials or an end.
I do expect the Clery report to eventually come out with a 7 figure fine - it might be grouped in with the findings on a lot of schools.

I agree completely - a lot of people wish this would just "go away"
Spanier Graham, Schultz are - IMO - guilty as hell -but none will ever see a jail cell and I wouldn't be surprised if they never go to trial.

Thanks again -Appreciate the updates

Re: DruidTM!

There is talk that Governor Wolf and AG Kane may appoint a Special Independent Prosecutor together to look into AG Corbett's prior Prosecutions exempting the senators from investigations and bringing them and Former Senate Aides now Lobbyists before Grand Juries or a Special Independent Investigation Under Oath. The Destruction of Files, Notes, and Evidence and relationships with County Judges and Appeal Court Judges including the Supreme Court could become a bigger scandal and flow from what is happen over Penn State.

The check versus checkmate pawn game with Mutual Assured Destruction is going on among staffs threats, but the new leadership in the Senate, Supreme Court, and Governor, (All Good People) realize learning to get along is more important than ever, now.

One thing to watch is how the Corbett Late Appointments approved by the Legislature especially The Open Records Chief plays out.

There are some Reporters on the relationship among Judges and Legislators and AG Kane still holds a few cards on knowing what Judges were involved in PornGate, and an Open Records Request especially emails and Phone Records could be one way for that to happen, but that is still up in the air, until Grand Jury Leaks charges are decided against AG Kane???

Yet, I think more reasonable minds will prevail and work out the early disagreements happening right now with any divided government, there are always more ways to compromise and agree, than push buttons, that push back on those that would rather have more stalemates than expose some dirty laundry on each other that will help no one.

They have been able to negotiate between the differences and working on all the scandals and many that once ruled Harrisburg have loss elections, resigned, retired, or went to jail. The last thing the new Leaders want to handle are revelations that could fall back on causing more problems rather than moving on to disagree on others?

Sometimes it is hard to see the bleary lines of grey between what one once thought was right or wrong and those in power would like to stay there rather than go into an arena of the unknown and the next thing to come out that disrupts even more???

There are a lot of Loopholes in the Clery Act and the Republican and Democratic Congressman and State Reps and Senate that work with them along with Jay Paterno supporting President Obama. They all can work with the Current Democratic Governor and Republican Senate & House Leadership whose interests is to move on and reduce the cost of the scandal, and not increase it, is more paramount now! Even the Presidential Contenders will be aware of avoiding all egg shells leftover from the Penn State Scandal.

The reason why I am saying this is that many think now that the NCAA settled on the Fines and Vacated Wins the time is now over to end urgent feelings to deal with the other Penn State Scandal meaningful subjects like the Criminal Trials, Clery Act, and Title IX. The way to do it is with indifference and misperception that removes the eagerness of displeasure underlying today's Penn State situation no longer burden by sanctions.

The Political Leadership nervousness at this time, like that old song's lyrics, "Who Will Answer"……"In the rooms of dark and shades, The scent of sandalwood pervades. The colored thoughts in muddled heads…..If the soul is darkened…..By a fear it cannot name….If the mind is baffled…..When the rules don't fit the game........Who will answer?"

Well, the Clery Act Violations were suppose to be made Public according to the Law, but when the Judges, Legislature, Governor and AG are trying to play their own games for election and re-election....Well, the "Rules Are Not Fitting The Game Or Laws Right Now and No One Can Answer Why"?

As Judges in concert with Legislators rule on issues long time passed by 5 years now, it also changes with the times echoing the moods and qualms of today's current unease to rid the Commonwealth of the Penn State Scandal aftermaths as soon as they can and then say, "See The Criminal Justice System took care of it.I agree completely - a lot of people wish this would just "go away"

There is no upside whatsoever to have Penn State University to be burden with more Million Dollar Fines and losses on funding for Students for Clery Act and Title IX Violations. The Governor, Legislature, Judges, Senators, Congresspersons and Education Department do not want this to happen, if they did, that Report would be made public by now??? Any severe fines will hurt the Commonwealth not just Penn State.

Spanier Graham, Schultz are - IMO - guilty as hell -but none will ever see a jail cell and I wouldn't be surprised if they never go to trial.

We are all entitled to being Innocent under the Law until proven guilty by our peers? What is good for them is good for us too, I am not defending it, but if anyone is put in that same situation, they would want the best Defense they can acquire and that is life in America. It may not always turn out to be justice, right, and honorable, but we have rights for all of us, them too!

The stain will always remain in history on Penn State since it was a total Penn State Scandal and that did "Bring Shame To The Dear Old State's Name"!

Yet, many feel the Victim's have been compensated, the University is still paying the price with reforms, and the Football Program has been sanctioned, and Paterno's vacated wins restored, everything else needs to go away and will as soon as few more investigations, court rulings, and trials are settled, plead or over!

Thanks again -Appreciate the updates

It is a burden to report and follow this scandal and doing it brings no delight or pleasure and looking forward for it to end too. Lives, Careers, and Freedoms have been changed, lost, and still remain as nightmares in the minds of many, and there are no winners from the Penn State Scandal.

Even Kane and McCord that ran on looking into it, are now tainted, as well as many fine Judges, Politicians and Governor Corbett and there is really no joy on BWI either, the stain, smell, and taint will remain along with the banter from others that will use the "Ped State" name after losing to them, and that will grate on every PSU Fan in the future.

Yet, few will remember what the children went through too, the simple fat remains, no on e wants to talk about what happen to them, no normal person even wants to bring up Pedophile abuse because the very subject is disgusting and only Professionals among the Courts, Prosecution, and Defense must do it!

KJB,

The Net was not "cast way to small" it was purposely timed casts to prevent catching the Leeches on Big Fish in the wrong places? Any reasonable person that carefully follows scandals can conclude it was done in such a way that manipulation of the investigation was taking place all along. Each time more information came out the Net was again casts in the wrong place to protect Bigger Fish that have many Leeches on them?

1. The AG knew the Grand Jury was over and the Report was being written and still did not publish it with "Intentional But Never Investigated Illegal Grand Jury Leaks" by the "Highest Legal Enforcement Agency in the Commonwealth" and not one Supreme court Justice demanded an Investigation?

2. The Grand Jury Presentment timing was released only after Joseph Vincent Paterno won his 409th NCAA Winning Game and in one week Joe Paterno went from being on the Highest Mountain to being Fired with lowest allegations of knowing but not stopping Child Molestation??

3. The Second Mile Contributors to Corbett's Campaign got a pass and 3 Million Grant after the Penn State scandal later retracted by Corbett, and TSM organization disbanded by a Judge ASAP, and proceeds sent to Houston, Texas???

4. Corbett's participation and comments in the Trustees Meeting just before they fired Spanier & Paterno a week later after the 409th Victory was strange and questionable and shows Corbett actually casted that Net in ways to manipulate the capture of just a few fish and not some also responsible at DPW, His Own AG Prosecutors????

5. The Corbett /Kelly Investigators led by Prosecutors Frank Fina, Ryan, Blessington, and Constanzo only went after Sandusky, Schultz, and Curley, and it was clearly shown did not properly investigate or have critical dates right, and Louis Freeh found the culpable emails and evidence that led to Spanier eventual charges, but not only exempted Paterno, but said there was no evidence Paterno never did anything wrong, in spite of evidence he knew in the Grand Jury and Emails?????

6. Corbett/Kelly/Ryan AG excuses of destroying all Emails, Notes, Proffers, and Evidence in the name it was costing too much money to spend as they allowed Senate Republicans to change their Computer Bonusgate, ComputerGate and DenaplesGate Files and not calling one Senator or Senate Aide before any Grand Jury and actually hiring the Former Senate Aides for Corbett's Campaign that were suppose to be under investigation is not strange but outright intentional and then thinking there was no way to review his actions since the records were destroyed??????

7. AG Kane recovery of Corbett/Kelly/Ryan Emails showing the Prosecutors and Investigators were using State Computers on State Time, For Personal Pleasures and Found Out sent back and forth to (MANY NOT JUST ONE AND TWO) County Judges whose Investigations on BonusGate, ComputerGate and DenaplesGate, Grand Juries and Criminal Trials and moved the Supreme Court to investigate AG Kane for Grand Jury Leaks is not a coincidence???????

8. When the Supreme Court had to go through over 20 and more County Judges that turned them down to assign them the Sandusky and Penn State Three Criminal Trials and later AG Kane reveals the AG Fina Prosecutors and Investigators PornGate previously unknown well after the JS Trial and Full Spanier, Curley, Schultz Charges, and still not one Judge other than "Shameus" McCaffery that had to resign and few more Investigators resigned too, and OAG staffers disciplined but not prosecuted? The other County Judges names are being kept away from the Public due to Open Record Laws currently in Court due to Corbett's After The Election Lame Duck Appointment and Senate Approval. No one is seeking such names either so there is no Transparency! especially in the subsequent content with more information never exposed except in drips and drabs as outlined above and those are no coincidence????????

There is far more that has been covered up that deserves a proper Investigation by a Federal Special Independent Prosecutor requested by Governor Wolf, AG Kane, to US Attorney Holder that needs to review all of PAOAG from Corbett to Kane as well as the Senate, Legislature and Judges, and Trustees, Second Mile and DPW and not just on Sandusky and the Penn State Three, but the Pattern and Practice of Prosecutors and Investigators since 2004, that are very fearful f their prosecution misconduct being exposed!

And I am still only Tangent Touching the Tip of the Iceberg of what is hiding under the water (Gricar Computer Hard Drives) that can sink those involved with the biggest scandals in Pennsylvania History and not just the Penn State Scandal, but the confusion, pawns, and power plays are running the shows.

"When Minds Are Baffled When The Rules Don't Fit The Game"....something is not right and much more is wrong, but who cares now, as the Vacated Wins Restored and Statue Back Up and now all can go away. Courtesy of the same Legislature, and Judges New Leadership that replaced the old! And some running for higher Judgeships that played to the Voters that elected a New AG that uncovered the Porn Emails, but has since been brought up on charges herself a her personal, professional and re-election life fall apart like the car crash caused her driver portends the worse to come? Now silence rules while and transparency is not just ignore but never there in the first place?

When Commonwealth Laws are not followed or investigated by the very Attorney Generals and Judges responsible for them.

Or Title IX and Clery Act Federal Laws are being ignored nor followed as required by law. Or no Newspaper or Media is reporting it or investigating why, something does not make sense except to know someone or something ah the power to prevent it and cover it up?

No matter what Blehars, Zieglers, Bagwell and Others report on and they themselves have been marginalized by discrediting themselves among themselves, as fed information meant to mislead by having some of the truth, but enough kept away, to make them argue over it.

Only three ways to describe it:

1. Paterno demanded Instant replay or would pull out of the Big Ten if his Teams kept losing games from intentional Ref Calls that many could see were outright wrong. Paterno knew it because when PSU was an Independent, some of Paterno's Ref Selections like Guman did the same for him! Later it came out some Big Ten Refs were actually indicted and later removed for gambling and fixing lines on games, but not published in details, and well after Instant replay became the standard in College and Pro Football.

2. "I Am Not A Farmer But I Know When I Smell Manure Even If I Cannot See It"?
The Political Powers are not just covering up parts of what happen at Penn State brought about by Jerry Sandusky, they are covering up for the shabby, sloppy, and outright Prosecution Misconduct and Ineffective Counsel chosen by the Political Pawns as well as those put in charge of the Attorney General Office that changed the Commonwealth Leadership in many of their prior political prosecutions. prior to Sandusky's revelations?

3. The full truth is never coming out now. This does not mean it was not manipulated. No question the Power Structure in the Commonwealth want it to go away and have worked hard to making it all go away. It will continue to fade, unless something comes out that brings the Commonwealth House Of Cards down!

They never thought the Penn State Scandal would open up the Can of Worms they used to Casts their Nets against others to remove from Power, and that caused a Democratic Attorney General to be elected after controlling that office from 1980. They never dreamed this would bring down Corbett from being re-elected either. The very man that went after Republican and Democratic Political Leadership carefully selected and allowing others to escape and evidence being destroyed to prevent Discovery of how they manipulated Judges as well?

They have been scrambling ever since watching a Supreme Court Justice having to resign, Prosecutors and Investigators involved with Porn and Evidence they thought was destroyed only to rise again? Now in Limbo Silent Fears that if you talk about it, you will be violating Grand Jury rules that were never enforced before under their own Silence Coups?

You have been honest enough to discuss Pitt and PSU Football with respect and without flames and to agree to disagree with me. I welcome that anytime while recognizing the greatness and flaws of Paterno and Penn State & Pitt Football on the Lair.

You are also honest enough to know some information has not all come out on this entire scandal and that means some of it has been hidden and that is not right either, in your heart, mind, and soul, but still can't figure out why?

My three posts on the subjects are again just a Tip of the Iceberg that is melting way as time moves it on to memories faded a long time ago and never to be investigated anymore. Unless someone brave enough to expose something else on these many "Scandals", not just the Penn State Scandal, that has open a Can of Worms no one expected to show the Nets were Casts in wrong places on purpose?

Now don't call my post Superfluous? I have been as concise I can be and anything I post will not make one bit of difference, the power perfume put out there is meant to cover the manure smell one knows is out there but can't find it, when one knows somewhere is hiding it?

Does this answer your question?

I found the vast majority of Pitt, Penn State and WVU Alumni to be moral and honorable folks, have passion for their Alma Maters and Teams, and will admit they too can have flaws and make mistakes, and still be proud of their Schools Accomplishments in Academics, Sports, and other areas, knowing they have contributed far more good than bad in this world.

There are always the few Zealot and Advocates thinking they are better, smarter, and winning in sports or making lots of money are superior to others, but anyone thinking that is factually proving they are not too smart at all?

I urge everyone on the Lair and in Life that is good that Penn State and West Virginia and Pitt seek out being the Best because when we play and beat each other, you know have won or loss against the best!

Pitt won a National Championship in 1976 after it beat Notre Dame and Penn State that were winning big during that era. Penn State was denied national Championships in 1968, 1969, and 1973 because many thought they played weaklings in the East.

However, after Pitt Football became the Best from 1975 to 1983, Penn won a national Title in 1982 and in 1986, and WVU played in one in 1989 with Notre Dame, because they were playing against the Best. All joined by Miami and FSU later too.

In 1994, Penn State was again denied a share of the National Championship because Big ten Coaches and Reporters to vote for them unlike voting for Michigan in 1998?

There is nothing wrong in being passionate about your own Team and University so long as you are respectful to others too, and that truly shows who is actually superior in the content of their character and has nothing to do with winning or losing football games?

Captain, I appreciate the in-depth response but the honest reality is that you are way more intelligent than me and 90% of it went over my head. The 10% I understood pretty much said you and I are on the same page. Its a shame because everyone involved is not going to be held accountable for what they knew. Disappointing to say the least and a very poor reflection on PA as a whole.

Re: 9nationalchampionships, Except....

......finding out who was driving the train, in charge of the tracks, and whom and why put a Gasoline Truck on the Tracks and then covered it all up so no one truly knows and then Investigators come in and cover their own mistakes on looking into how that Train Wreck Explosion actually happen is just as wrong, and is not giving the public the full and true view that led to everyone looking at them.

I never want that happening to me, my friends, or family, and more importantly, I do not want that happen to Pitt or any other school.

However, if a tragedy does happen, I would want all the truth and nothing but the truth, and until that happens, I don't want to be judged nor judge without that process, and just be associating with such a disgusting topic of child molestation that no one wants to discuss anyhow hurts any chances of finding the entire truth.

The Power that be never expected this tragedy to influence elections, power, plans, and agendas and making it go away to prevent more investigations is their goal now. and when any victims or mothers yells about it, all that is said now, look you got compensated, that is the best we could do, now move on?

Paternos, vacated wins are back, sanctions reduced, and statue will go back up somewhere, some day, now move on!

NCAA you messed up, fire Emment and hire Oliver Luck, now move on!

AG Kane stay quiet and move on?

Corbett go and teach somewhere move on?

In any event, PSU will move on too, under Franklin that is out recruiting Schools in the Region and even Paterno too, and We Are Moving On!

I have seen and read your analysis on Football, clearly you very intelligent!

I am not more Intelligent, just followed all of this and other happenings in the Commonwealth as well as being privy to bigger and better minds with experience than my own, and thus a tad more knowledgeable as a result, but just as confused as all, since we cannot find out more on what fully happen, why, and how, and this was as intentional from the start, and meant to confuse so some can be protected and others kept silent.

It is important the Pitt Football Program improves itself in many ways and the New Chancellor is doing just that with his changes to match his vision.

It is just as important the New President at Penn State improves and handles the remnants of this scandal and improve Penn State Football Program and University.

The same for WVU too!

Time to play each other more often too!

Last questions Captain. Do you believe that Joe Paterno was the head of the snake and the one who was responsible for keeping this quiet for so long? Do you think the Penn State football program and/or the win record was the primary reason for this whole mess?

Personally, I do not believe either of those things. As you know, I believe Joe Paterno is as guilty and culpable as the rest of them, but I just think their was more to it. Maybe I am naive. At the same time, their just doesn't seem to be enough money involved in that scenario.

This is a very difficult question for me to be honest. I grew up disliking and then admiring the more I talked to Joe Paterno many times and enjoyed it every time. Joe Paterno regardless of what anyone wants to judge, he was without a doubt a remarkable man, father, and teacher. Joe was a superb hard working coach that loved, adored college football and few coaches out worked him.

However, like any man or coach that never sought Saint Status but got it anyway, because that depends on the people that worship you, and not one asking for it. It happen to Bear Bryant, Vince Lombardi, Chuck Noll, and many in American Society Heroes, Accomplished People, and all people have two sides regardless how great they are because we are all flawed human beings. At the same time, Joe Paterno could be mean, petty, vindictive, and was not beyond doing some underhanded things to keep a competitive edge for Penn State Football.

There is no question Paterno ran the Penn State Program, coached, and hired Sandusky and some point had to grow suspiousus about Sandusky at least from 1998 to 2002. However, was he the Head of Snake no, because the Head Snake was Spanier that made all final calls at Penn State. I truly think Spanier, Schultz, Curley, and Paterno got used to defending Penn State and Penn State Players, and Penn Football Program against all allegations and critics.

Yet, once Sandusky was not arrested by District attorney Gricar Investigation in 1998 it was not enough to fire Jerry but enough to retire Jerry. I say this because if one of my employees or close friends of over 40 years was investigated and then not arrested, I would be just as confused on what to do as well as Spanier that Schultz worked with, and Curley that took orders from Paterno. Moreover, this is a subject I ever discussed nor think about ever and again, in the 1990's was not even a social issue and pretty much ignored.

Yet, Jerry retires and keeps running The Second Mile and I do know Joe & Sue took free vacations with TSM and I believed it was a backdoor to recruiting as well, but this is why Spanier gave Professor Emeritus Status to JS and I do not think Paterno has anything with this or had anything to do with JS after he retired.

Still, once allegations by McQueary came to Joe, there is no question, they all cover it up, never asked for an investigation, and ignored all of it, and one knows that on how Joe later cried about how should have done more, and pray for the victims. There was no Head of the Snakes then, they were all Snakes. Later just before preparing for the Grand Jury Joe hired a his own Lawyer, transferred his Estate, and was planning his retirement, and this was before he knew he was sick.

Much confusion came from Corbett's and Kelly OAG Investigations and no way any of the Prosecutors were going to prosecute a 80+ Year Old Beloved Coach ready to retire and they may or may not know he was sick and dying at that time? This is where some Snakes exists as well.

Bottom line, Joe knew at some point from 1998 to 2002 to 2007 and he did cried how his legacy and all his great accomplishments are ruined as the cancer started to drain him of all his energy again. The biggest mistake Joe made is that he did not retire in 1998 and stayed way too long was often sick throughout the 2000s, and it was not due to vanity, but because he had nothing else to do after football he lived, breathed and worked for with joy!

Don't forget, Snakes turn on Snakes and even Spanier and Curley went to Joe in 2004 to consider he should retire, but the King Snake, is immune from other Snakes Bites in nature, and keeps them out of his domain. Joe was able to tell Spanier his Boss, and Curley his Boss, he is the door, I'll decide when I want to decide and stay out of my playground. This is Lack of Institutional Control (LOIC) under the NCAA! Joe knew and decided did nothing even if anyone wants to say he reported it, that is not the Head of the Snake, but ends up being and acting like as snake in any event at some point, but confusion on what to do still ruled too, to be fair. Today, if any of us hear about Child Abuse we all know what to do now!

Do you think the Penn State football program and/or the win record was the primary reason for this whole mess? Yes, without a doubt the very success.

No, this is a Penn State CULT argument, arrogance of thinking they won better than others, and were superior somehow running a clean program that was not clean at all?

If it was so clean they would have had an Athletic Integrity Agreement and Officer that over saw the Athletes Code of Conduct and they none of those until 2012. Penn State had no Director of Ethics or Compliance until 2012 and were violating Federal laws by not having one and being in compliance with Clery Act and Title IX until 2012?

Did not having these have anything to do with winning or losing, I don't think so, but it did show again LOIC and why they were given NCAA Sanctions and once those LOIC corrected and Federal and State Compliances were put in place, Sanctions were reduced!

The NCAA made mistakes never investigating Paterno Program when other NCAA Violations did occur like Curtis Enis in 1996, and then vacating Bobby Bowden, and trying enforce a $60 million Fine to be spent by them, and settled them and included the Paterno Vacated Wins that ended those Lawsuits and maybe end the Paterno Estates Lawsuits as well.

Yet, the Sanctions that were approved for two years on scholarships and NCAA Monitor and Big Ten Bowl Revenues still took place and still part of the Settlement with the Senator Corbin. So, that still happen.

Personally, I do not believe either of those things.

I respect your beliefs and those with the passion that love Paterno and Penn State Football.

As you know, I believe Joe Paterno is as guilty and culpable as the rest of them, but I just think their was more to it. Maybe I am naive.

I agree with you completely, and don't forget the Children Abuse happen over 30 years. Yet, the Penn State part since 1998 and then the investigations and Grand Juries did not take place until 2010? Anytime, trying to remember what happen 12 years ago is not easy. Especially, when the PAOAG was just as confused as they investigated as Children and Mothers claim abuse and then Children recanting after Sandusky paid them off?

At the same time, their just doesn't seem to be enough money involved in that scenario.

I am little confused on what you mean, "doesn't seem to be enough money involved in that scenario." There is never enough money to compensate and take away true victims pain and trouble they were being young and then more trouble being taken advantage of by a deeply sick sexual predator with his own demons, and then using the adoration of the Penn State Program.

At the same time, Penn State has taken the steps to insure that no coach ever again would ever have such power that Joe Paterno had at Penn State. The New Coaches have been hired with the Athletic Integrity Officer full participation and reporting to the New Director of Ethics and Compliance. Penn State is now the new model

The Greatest Era of Penn State Football Fame happen on Joseph Vincent Paterno dedication and the Worst Scandal in College Football brought shame to Penn State's name on Joseph Vincent Paterno watch!

Bottom line, Penn State University in every way was responsible for allowing Joe Paterno to become above reproach and omnipotent without any oversight and ignoring rules, regulations, and laws.

I
n conclusion, Paterno will always be an icon at Penn State until this generation that grew up with him dies away. Nevertheless, future fans will not adore him and the taint of Paterno's Public Relations Grand Experiment, Success with Honor, and the Penn State Way, came from a Penn State Student, Alumnus, Coach, and Employee, Professor Emeritus that Joseph Vincent Paterno hired and that is why it is a Penn State Scandal!

Whether that makes Joe Paterno culpable is debatable but what is not debatable Joe was there entire time and his wisdom in hiring Jerry Sandusky still stains Penn State University forever, and no restoration of vacated wins or reduced sanctions will change that in anyway..

You can judge the quality of a place on how they protect the weakest individuals. Allowing Child Rape says it all - PED STATE.

Wait, wait....this story is not about the football program at all. That's what Bob Smizik and Ron Cook and all the other Joebots said. So why is this story in the sports section (of the PG no less!)???

Repeat after me: "It had nothing to do with football. It had nothing to do with football. It had nothing to do with football." Now bow down 409 times in front of the cardboard cut-out and your soul will travel the 2nd mile on the road to the eternal resting place known as Happy Valley.
