Hubly Joins Pitt Basketball Staff; Blose Promoted to Full-Time Role

PITTSBURGH –
Pitt Men’s Basketball head coach Jeff Capel has added Billy Hubly to his staff as the Assistant Athletic Director of Scouting, while former manager and graduate assistant Robert Blose has been promoted to an Assistant Director of Recruiting / Video role.

Hubly joins the staff after spending the past five seasons at South Florida. He joined the USF staff in 2018 as Director of Player Development before transitioning to a Video/Social Media Coordinator role. He also spent three seasons (2016-18) at East Carolina, where he served as the video coordinator for two seasons before being promoted to assistant coach for the 2017-18 campaign. Hubly also worked as the video coordinator at Georgia Tech during the 2015-16 season after spending two seasons with the Yellow Jackets as a graduate assistant coach.

While serving his graduate assistantship at Tech, Hubly worked toward his master’s degree in management from the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Ill., which he received in May of 2015. The Elk Grove, Ill., native earned his bachelor’s degree in recreation administration in August of 2012 from St. Francis, where he played basketball on scholarship for the Fighting Saints and earned All-Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (NAIA) honors three times.

In his role with the Panthers, Hubly will provide oversight and management for all aspects of scouting videos as well as team and student-athlete operations, communication, and development. This includes film exchange, video capture, editing, production, equipment maintenance, and related support for coaches‚ and student-athletes use. He will also serve as the primary liaison to areas such as academics, student-athlete housing, financial aid, equipment, and team travel logistics.

Blose has been promoted to a full-time role in the program after spending three seasons as a student manager and the past two seasons as a graduate manager. In his new role as Assistant Director of Recruiting / Video, Blose will assist with practice and competition video filming, editing, and preparation for coaches’ review, while also assisting with preparation and execution of recruiting activities.
