WPIAL Championship weekend

For 3A and 5A, you'd just be postponing your bye week from the bye they get after the regular season to a bye after the WPIAL Championship.
why do you think they would choose to lose money over making money? Surely it can't be because the small schools pull more weight then the big schools. The Big 56 is essentially the ruling body of the WPIAL. Everything trickles down from them.

WPIAL Championship weekend

Adding a bye week is not something coaches nor AD's want.

For 3A and 5A, you'd just be postponing your bye week from the bye they get after the regular season to a bye after the WPIAL Championship.

For example, this was P-R's schedule:

10/25 - Shaler (last regular season game)
11/1 - bye
11/8 - Franklin Regional
11/15 - Bethel Park
11/23 - Peters Twp
11/29 - Bishop McDevitt

This would have been their schedule if they moved the 3A and 5A finals up a week.

10/25 - Shaler (last regular season game)
11/1 - FR
11/8 - BP
11/15 - Peters
11/22 - bye
11/29 - Bishop McDevitt

Just dropping by afterwards to say I enjoyed lurking the last couple of days - you seem to have a more level-headed and knowledgeable group of posters than most fanbases. I am sorry about Dunn - that was a big deal for the outcome of this game.

If you are a fan of analytics, a partner and I do a statistics-based write-up on Buckyville after every Badger game - it's from a Badger perspective, of course, but if you're interested in digging a little below the surface, here it is: https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/buckyville/viewtopic.php?p=2459099#p2459099

Good luck the rest of the season - I hope Dunn is ok, and go beat Brutus!

Best of luck to you guys the rest of the way.

Wisconsin Game & Other Dribbles...

Dude, they only made it halfway through the bracket. They lost to a team that got trounced in the Final Four.

Great team. It wasn't a great team built to plow through March. The results back that up.

You dont use 1 game to determine how good a team is.

Kansas in 2010 was 33-2 going into the 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament. They were the overall number 1 seed and beat 9 ranked teams going into that game along with both a big 12 and big 12 tournament championship and they lost to Northern Iowa by 2 points. Had that game been played 100 times, Kansas probably loses 1 out of 100.

Pitt lost to Villanova in the Elite 8 because of 1 play. Dixon turning the ball over late then giving the opposing team a 3 point play. We had a 4 point lead with the ball under 3 minutes to play. That 1 bonehead play is close to the same level of bonehead as when Nasir Robinson fouling to lose the game in 2011 against Butler. You could also blame the loss on Brown missing 1 free throw to win the game. Butler then cruised to the NCAA Finals.

WPIAL Championship weekend

State college gets to play both ends … they play in a league with all district 3 teams … yet qualify through for state playoffs through district 6… … only a couple years ago they finished 5th in the mid Penn behind teams that did not make the playoffs in d3… they still got in through district 6, because there are only a few teams at the six level in that district, so they literally could go three and seven and still make the playoffs… they got an easy first round game and then they got the play Mount Lebanon and got their ass kicked

So basically the same thing the City League schools get to do since the State views the various classifications as separate within the City League and you have 4 different classifications among the 5 teams.

Congratulations to Coach Franklin

So towards the end of the first half, PSU has the ball and was driving and it was 3rd down Allar threw a deep pass that floated I dunno almost 10 yards out of bounds. The PSU WR and Minnesota DB had some typical hand fighting. The ref called a PI penalty on the Minn DB. It was the most egregiously bad PI call. Even Gene Steratore said not only was the pass not catchable, but there was no PI. One of the worst calls I have seen. PSU gets the 1st down and scores before half. Without that? They lose.

You don't think these conference refs know the score in regards to getting as many playoff games for their conferences as possible??
I thought it was a questionable call, as well, but I do take issue with the uncatchable part. Does a ball being "uncatchable" mean that under no circumstances can a penalty be called? Can the defensive back just hold and hold and hold, or body slam the receiver to the ground, or even pull his jersey over his helmet, and still not be called for a penalty just because the throw sailed too far out over the line? Giving total dispensation in that setting doesn't seem right to me. What if the QB throws it away intentionally because the receiver isn't where he's supposed to be because he's being interfered with?
