Holstein vs. Virginia D

So, Eli hasn't looked like the QB over the past 3 games the way he looked over the first 5 games. The question is...is he hitting the "freshman wall"? If he struggles against Virginia's defense in the first half, do you sit him down in the second half? It doesn't seem like Holstein is trusting what he sees. I think that's a maturity factor that, hopefully, gets in time. However, it's possibly a maturity factor I think Yarnell may have now. So, that being said, what do you think happens if Holstein struggles in the first half against a below average Virginia D?

I say, if Holstein struggles. If he is playing like he is not decisive when dropping back to pass or makes bad decisions with his throws (throwing into double coverage or throwing an interception), then he needs to sit. It's about winning games.

Not sure if personal self evaluation is needed…I was just doing a little venting on a fan message after an unexpectedly bad performance.

I’m always proud of the kids who play for the Alma Mater. No matter what happens.

Obviously this game just got away from them. I am surprised at how bad they looked after at the very least being competitive in every game up to this point. I didnt expect them to go undefeated but I didn’t expect for them to get completely destroyed by an SMU team that lost to Stanford and should have lost to Duke last week.

I guess I just expected them to at least be competitive.

Agreed. And I’ll add that you’re one of the better contributors here so the dramatic comment was a bit surprising.

Regarding the team I just think it was one of those games where Pitt didn’t have it and SmU was hitting on all

First of all its nice to see so many posters out of the shadows, but seriously game 8 and we were thinking of a possible playoff berth... That is awesome. Perspective people. This team is not good enough to run the table, in fact very few are. see KSU, ISU, PSU, etc.. Keep supporting the team and I look forward to seeing most of you saturday night! H2P

Or just stick with this coach forever and never be National Title contenders! He is what he is and a top tier head coach is not it.

As fans we can do very little to affect the team’s play. Until something drastic happens like buying much better players, we need to accept the fact that we can be pretenders (sniffing top 25) every once in a while but most of the time we aren’t even that.

He is the answer. I’ll take a quarterback they can throw the football on time and accurately and get all of my receivers involved.. Passers will always win you games where his throwers might look good and might be able to run, but they’ll never be able to beat real defenses with real coaches putting up schemes that will expose the fact that they don’t know how to read defenses and anticipate throws. I’ve been saying this for the last two years now to just play Yarnell and they don’t smh
